Dear guests, parents, teachers, and our beloved graduating class of 2026: Good afternoon!

Standing here at the graduation ceremony, my heart is filled with profound emotion: this is the ninth graduating class since Yinghua University's founding. Gazing at the familiar, radiant faces in the audience, I can still vividly recall your youthful innocence four years ago as you first stepped onto campus, their eyes shining with curiosity and wonder.

Perhaps many of you may recall that our connection began during a particularly significant period: when the first cohort of students enrolled in the autumn of 2022, the shadow of the pandemic had not yet fully lifted, and the initial class size was relatively small. However, soon after, an increasing number of students transferred from renowned international schools across the Greater Bay Area, choosing to entrust their most crucial phase of growth during secondary education to Yinghua. This profound trust represents the most valuable gift I have received as school supervisor over the past four years, and it is the foundation of my greatest pride.

Over four years, we have shared a special semester marked by frequent transitions between online and offline learning environments; we have worked through one set of past exam papers after another in the library; we have experienced both the highs and lows, as well as the excitement and anxiety, associated with mock exams; and we have repeatedly refined our application essays and rehearsed interview scenarios in pursuit of our dream admission letters. I have witnessed and deeply cherished every moment: those evenings when you chased teachers down the corridors to ask questions; those weekends spent discussing group assignments until you forgot to eat; and those moments of jubilation when you embraced your classmates upon receiving your preliminary admission offers.

And you have never disappointed anyone. This year's admission results for the 60 graduates once again set a new record in Yinghua's educational history: students in the UK track received offers from prestigious G5 and Russell Group universities such as IC, LSE, UCL, KCL, University of Warwick, and University of Manchester; those in the Australian track secured placements at Australia's top eight universities including the University of Melbourne and University of Sydney; amid unprecedented competition in Hong Kong university applications, we obtained offers from Hong Kong's top eight institutions—The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and City University of Hong Kong—along with multiple associate degree placements from The University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Baptist University, as well as admissions to Tung Wah College, Higher Institute of Technology, and VTC. Almost every student's ultimate destination far exceeded initial expectations; through years of steady effort, you have forged a broader path for personal growth, and I am truly proud of you.

From today onward, you will embark on a journey into a broader world bearing the imprint of Yinghua. I know the road ahead won't always be smooth: you will encounter challenging academic courses, unfamiliar environments requiring independent adaptation, and life's crossroads where you must make your own choices. But please always remember that during your three years at Yinghua, the resilience you've developed to withstand pressure, your problem-solving skills, and your drive to think innovatively and strive diligently are the strongest foundation for facing all uncertainties.

Let us turn our attention to the world around us: two nights ago, the FIFA World Cup in Mexico City officially commenced; yesterday, SpaceX successfully completed its IPO on NASDAQ. The world of 2026 is like a kaleidoscope filled with surprises and turbulence, yet brimming with unprecedented opportunities. The era of artificial intelligence has arrived with great momentum, as robotics, drones, and new energy technologies evolve rapidly. Countless innovations and emerging fields are reshaping our lives, making this world more vibrant and full of possibilities than ever before—precisely the age in which your generation will venture forth and create. I sincerely hope that Yinghua University's graduates will embrace this remarkable era with the courage they've cultivated over these years, experience unprecedented transformations, acquire cutting-edge knowledge, explore uncharted territories, innovate boldly, and forge ahead with determination—to truly step onto the global stage and build a bright future that belongs solely to you.

Here, I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all the parents present. Thank you for entrusting your children's development to Yinghua, and thank you for your understanding and support of our school's various initiatives over the years—whether through regular academic feedback, semesterly campus visits, or your unwavering trust during the school's brief challenges last year; all of these have been our strongest foundation. Yinghua has always prioritized "living up to every act of trust" as our foremost principle in education. Moving forward, we will continue to uphold teaching quality as our core commitment, providing our students with a more stable and superior learning environment, and ensuring that every trust placed in us is fully met.

Children, today's graduation ceremony is not the end, but the beginning of your next chapter in life. I hope that when you travel to every corner of the world, you will always remember why you set out, and continue to embrace curiosity about the world, perseverance toward your goals, and kindness toward those around you. If you have time, visit Yinghua often—this place will always be your home.

Finally, I wish all 2026 graduates a bright future and smooth sailing ahead! And to all parents and teachers, I extend my best wishes for good health and success in everything you undertake.

Thank you all!

Good afternoon, everyone.

I'm Dalia, and I graduated in 2024. It's a great honour to return to Yinghua today as a former student, sitting in the same auditorium where I graduated, watching all of you embark on your new lives. My thoughts suddenly drift back to my own graduation season two years ago – just like yours now. Back then, I was buried in exam papers and endless practice questions, enduring the torment of international exams and IELTS, while simultaneously dreaming of my vibrant university life. Whenever I felt like I couldn't keep studying, my elders would repeatedly say, "Just hang in there for two more years – you'll have an easier time once you get into university."

That one sentence sustained me throughout high school.

Back then, all my obsessions were tied to getting into a university in Hong Kong. At seventeen or eighteen, I felt that getting into a Hong Kong university was like passing every hurdle in life – getting permanent residency, working in Hong Kong, achieving financial freedom, and never being chased by grades again. I treated university as the finish line, believing that once I crossed it, all of life's problems would be solved.

But when I actually stepped onto a university campus in Hong Kong, reality ruthlessly shattered all my illusions, bit by bit.

Contrary to my expectations of a carefree life, I was bombarded with quizzes, presentations and group assignments. Every semester was a vicious cycle of "just finished exams and then having to prepare for more." And my body was particularly temperamental – it was as if I had a built-in 'culture shock' effect when travelling from my hometown to Hong Kong. Every time I crossed the border, I would get a fever, but my temperature would automatically return to normal as soon as I stepped back onto the mainland. I suffered both physically and mentally. Even more disheartening was the change in interpersonal relationships. At Yinghua, when I was overwhelmed by practice problems, my teachers and classmates took turns comforting me. But at university? Classmates were basically just "tools" for group assignments, and I maintained a polite distance from professors. Finding someone I could truly confide in was a luxury.

I had a typical goal-oriented personality – I needed a clear objective to move forward; without direction, I stagnated. At the same time, I really disliked being bound by various school exams, which left me no time to improve myself according to my own ideas. So during that period, I was trapped in a long stretch of exhausting inner conflict, constantly pondering the meaning of life. We spend twelve years completing compulsory education, then we strive for university in high school, and then we continue the fierce competition for graduate school. After graduating, we still have to work hard, then get married and have children. We're constantly on the move. Do we really have to wait until we're old and frail before we have time to enjoy life? If the end of studying is always the next exam and the next round of competition, then what was the point of all those days and nights I spent studying and suffering in high school? At my most confused, I felt a deep-seated aversion to books and to numbers – which I used to love. I no longer wanted to numbly move forward along the predetermined track of fierce competition.

The day before my first-semester final exams, I spent the entire day working on group assignments and final exam revision. Dragging my aching body to my dorm, I searched the whole street – all I could find to eat were cold convenience-store rice balls and McDonald's. Numbed by the daily grind of coursework, even a hot roadside late-night snack had become a luxury. This seemingly small thing became the final straw. I suddenly realised I couldn't let myself suffocate in that oppressive environment any longer. Instead of stubbornly enduring a life that didn't suit me, I had to actively break free. Since living in Hong Kong was too stifling, I chose to settle in Shenzhen, starting my commute between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Later, I adopted a cat, who played with me at home every day. In my spare time, I tutored A-levels. The income wasn't much, but it made my life more fulfilling and allowed me to create a small bar at home, where I could invite friends over for drinks and chats anytime.

Ironically, as the pace of life gradually relaxed, my studies and campus life at Hong Kong Polytechnic University took a new turn for the better. After choosing my major in my second year, I officially entered the Financial Mathematics programme. Because of my interest in this subject, I gradually found a learning rhythm that suited me, and the exams and assignments that once overwhelmed me became much easier to handle. I knew that the university courses alone were not enough to support my ambitions for my future career, so I successively prepared for several professional certifications in accounting, finance and other fields, and completed internships in banks and investment banks, accumulating knowledge of the financial industry through practical experience. At the same time, the university had abundant resources. I occasionally participated in industry sharing sessions and finance-themed salons on campus. Apart from delving deeper into my major, I had also had a great interest in international study-abroad applications since graduating from high school. So this summer, I am doing an internship in the study-abroad industry. Whenever the students I have mentored receive offers from their ideal universities and come to share their joy with me, the sense of accomplishment always heals my busy and tiring daily life.

It was in these small, everyday moments that I slowly untangled my past knots. I discovered that the meaning of life isn't necessarily about achieving grand goals. After a busy period, I can take a few days to travel to unfamiliar cities with old friends, experiencing different local cultures; spend weekends relaxing on the windowsill at home, basking in the sun with my cat; and during holidays, meet up with a few close friends at home for drinks and heartfelt conversations about life. Even in the busiest of ordinary days, the appearance of these small, beautiful moments quietly dissipates all the confusion, giving ordinary days extraordinary meaning. Life has no fixed, unchanging trajectory; we don't need to be trapped on a predetermined path, rushing headlong. We spend our entire lives collecting those rare and beautiful moments along the way.

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. The world is a boundless wilderness, not prearranged rails, and genuine happiness hides in ordinary trivial moments.

This quote, from Emerson, translates to: "Don't follow the established path – go where no one has been, and leave your own footprints." Life is a wilderness, not a track.

This is also what I wanted to give you.

Now that you're in university, you'll likely experience the same confusion and sense of disillusionment that I did. On one hand, I want you to remember – life is a wilderness. Don't let the competitive tide overwhelm you until you're exhausted, and don't force yourself to blindly follow trends and relentlessly pursue high grades and rankings. When you're tired, take a break, immerse yourself in a hobby, or stroll alone through the city streets, living life at your own pace and following your heart.

On the other hand, I also want to tell you not to give up. You must study your major courses diligently, and at the same time, combine this with your own plans to obtain professional certifications. You can also use your holidays to try internships in different fields. This way, you can deepen your professional knowledge, accumulate industry resources, and explore areas you love according to your personal interests – just as I balanced finance with international studies, continuously improving myself through diverse methods. In short, you don't need to blindly study and compete for rankings, but you must always maintain a passion for learning and take advantage of the rich platforms available at university for self-improvement. In this way, life will naturally unfold its own unique landscape.

Finally, I sincerely wish all of you success in gaining admission to your desired universities and in freely embarking on your own unique journeys through life. May you carry the passion of youth, transcend conventional answers, and with the confidence you've gained at Yinghua, calmly explore the myriad possibilities ahead. Wherever the future leads, Yinghua will always be a starting point you can look back on. I look forward to meeting you all at the pinnacle of your respective fields in the future.

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. The world is boundless wilderness, not prearranged rails, and genuine happiness hides in ordinary trivial moments.

Good afternoon.

I am Zoey from A2. It is both a great honor and a deeply emotional moment for me to stand here today as the student representative of the graduating class.

Four years ago, we walked into this high school filled with anticipation and a touch of uncertainty. We were curious about the future, yet slightly anxious about the unknown. In the blink of an eye, these four years have quietly passed. The lively classroom discussions and debates, the explorations in the laboratory, the laughter and teamwork in clubs and activities, and the tension and perseverance during exam seasons have all become the most vivid memories of our youth.

At this campus, we learned not only knowledge, but also how to think, how to express ourselves, and how to respect diverse cultures. We wrote essays in English, completed projects through collaboration, and examined issues with critical thinking. Through countless presentations and exchanges, we gradually learned to express ourselves with confidence. We came to understand that true education is not merely the accumulation of grades, but the expansion of perspective and the shaping of character.

Of course, these four years were not without challenges. We experienced the disappointment of unsatisfactory exam results and the anxiety of application season. We stayed up late revising essays repeatedly and gave our all in pursuit of our goals. Yet it was precisely these challenges that made us stronger and more mature. We learned to find direction under pressure, to rise again after setbacks, and to maintain courage amid uncertainty.

Here, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our teachers. Thank you for your patient instruction in class, your careful guidance after class, your encouragement when we felt lost, and your reminders when we grew complacent. You have been not only transmitters of knowledge, but also mentors guiding us along the path of growth. I would also like to thank our parents. Your unwavering support and understanding have given us the confidence to pursue our dreams. Your companionship and trust have been our strongest foundation.

Dear classmates, graduation is not an end, but a new beginning. We are about to set off for different corners of the world, enter different universities, choose different majors, and embark on our own unique journeys. The road ahead may still hold challenges, and the future may be full of uncertainties, but I firmly believe that the past four years have equipped us with the ability and courage to face the world.

Years from now, when we look back on this day, I hope we can proudly say that we once studied hard, strove earnestly, and grew together here; that we did not let our youth—or one another—down.

Finally, let us give our warmest applause to the teachers and parents who have supported us tirelessly, and offer our best wishes to ourselves as we set forth on a new journey. May our futures be as bright as brocade, and may we all meet again at the summit.

Thank you.
