近百余支队伍、数百名少年同台论道！“讲好中国故事”全国中小学语言素养大赛辩论赛项重庆赛区复赛在哈罗重庆启幕

作为教育部认可的全国性语言素养赛事，本届比赛围绕"讲好中国故事"这一核心主题展开。

比赛设置高中组、初中组、小学高年级组及小学低年级组多个组别，聚焦文化传承、青年担当、科技发展、社会治理等时代议题，引导学生在辩论中提升逻辑思维、公共表达与批判性思维能力。

比赛现场，辩手们引经据典、思维敏捷，既有严谨缜密的逻辑推演，也有充满温度的人文关怀。本届大赛的辩题——

他们围绕辩题展开激烈攻防，在观点碰撞中不断深化对中华文化、社会责任与时代使命的理解，充分展现新时代青少年的思辨风采与文化自信。

一次次精彩发言、一轮轮观点交锋，不仅赢得现场阵阵掌声，也让"讲好中国故事"拥有了更加鲜活、生动的青春表达。

承办国家级赛事，不仅意味着高标准的赛事组织能力，更体现了学校长期深耕思辨教育的成果。

作为拥有逾450年英国哈罗公学教育传承的成员学校，重庆哈罗礼德学校始终坚持培养兼具家国情怀与全球视野的未来领航者。

学校构建了覆盖1至12年级的中文思辨课程体系，以阅读、表达、写作与文化理解为核心，将批判性思维、逻辑表达和跨文化沟通能力融入日常教学，形成循序渐进、螺旋上升的人才培养路径。

中方校长孔静博士表示：本次赛事落地重庆哈罗礼德，不仅是对学校思辨教育成果的认可，更是推动重庆思辨教育发展的重要契机。学校希望通过赛事开放优质课程资源与教育平台，与更多学校共享思辨教育经验，培养更多敢思辨、善表达、有担当的新时代少年。

On 5 July, AISL Harrow Chongqing welcomed one of the city's most inspiring celebrations of youth, language and intellectual exchange. The Chongqing Regional Semi-finals of the "Telling China's Stories" National Language Literacy Competition (Debate)—a competition officially recognised on the Ministry of Education's approved national competitions list—opened on campus, bringing together outstanding primary and secondary students from across Chongqing.

Throughout the day, young debaters engaged in rigorous intellectual dialogue, using reasoned argument and articulate expression to demonstrate cultural confidence while sharing China's stories through the power of language. Representing public, private and international schools, competitors arrived with diverse educational backgrounds and perspectives, yet shared a common purpose: to tell China's stories through the voices of a new generation.

As the sole officially authorised organiser for the Chongqing Region, Harrow Chongqing was honoured to host the event. Drawing upon its distinctive fusion of British and Chinese educational excellence and its internationally minded learning environment, the School provided an exceptional platform on which young people could showcase critical thinking, eloquence and cultural understanding.

The Opening Ceremony commenced at 9:00 a.m. in the School's Theatre.

Distinguished guests included Mr Jing Yi, Deputy Party Affairs Organiser of the School of Foreign Languages at Southwest University of Political Science and Law and Head Coach of its Debate Team; Mr Tang Dong, Party Secretary of Sichuan International Studies University Liangjiang Affiliated Secondary School; Ms Qiu Chen, Columbia University graduate and renowned national Chinese debate coach; Ms Linda Wang, Deputy Director of Education, China, AISL; Ms Li Xueying, Deputy Director of Industry Activities, Education Technology Division, Hualong Education; Mr Zhao Yan, Chongqing Representative of CCTV Student Channel; Ms Xia Jing, Secondary Marketing Director of New Channel Chongqing; Ms Han Luying, International Director of Youziqing Education Platform; Ms Song Qingqing, Editor of Chongqing Expat Guide; together with representatives from leading media including People's Daily and Chongqing Daily.

They were joined by Mr Aaron Lennon, Head Master of Harrow Chongqing, Dr Judy Kong, Chinese Principal, and members of the School Leadership Team in witnessing the official opening of the competition.

Following a ceremonial countdown, the guests jointly activated the opening installation, formally declaring the Chongqing Regional Semi-finals of the "Telling China's Stories" National Language Literacy Competition (Debate) open.

It was a defining moment—not only for the competition, but also for the young thinkers of Chongqing embarking upon a journey of intellectual discovery.

As a nationally recognised language literacy competition, this year's debates centred on the theme of "Telling China's Stories."

The competition featured four divisions—Senior Secondary, Junior Secondary, Upper Primary and Lower Primary—with motions exploring topics including cultural heritage, youth responsibility, technological innovation and social development.

Designed to strengthen logical reasoning, public speaking and critical thinking, the competition encouraged students to engage thoughtfully with issues of contemporary significance.

Across every round, debaters demonstrated remarkable composure, intellectual agility and depth of knowledge. Carefully constructed arguments were balanced by empathy, insight and respect for differing perspectives.

This year's debate motions included:

Senior Secondary: Traditional Chinese aesthetics value harmonious completeness more than the beauty of empty space and artistic restraint.

Junior Secondary: A tree that stands above the forest invites the wind to break it versus The wind helps it grow stronger.

Upper Primary: During personal growth, following worthy role models is more important than embracing oneself.

Lower Primary: When faced with failure, it is wiser to persevere than to change direction at the right time.

Through every exchange of ideas, students deepened their understanding of Chinese culture, civic responsibility and the role of young people in shaping the future.

Each thoughtful speech and every compelling rebuttal brought fresh vitality to the mission of telling China's stories, giving it a confident and authentic voice for a new generation.
