This week in Grade 1, students strengthened their skills as effective communicators across various subjects. In Literacy, they explored possessive nouns and possessive pronouns, practising clear communication when indicating ownership. In Maths, students engaged in discussions about the seasons, identifying their characteristics and learning which months belong to each season. During Unit of Inquiry, students collaborated in groups to explore the Ocean habitat, refining their communication skills through teamwork. Additionally, students began working on their presentation skills, focusing on effectively presenting experiments using the scientific method.

This week, our Grade 2 students showcased their communication skills by presenting the experiments they completed during the holiday. They confidently shared their findings with the class, explaining each step of their scientific process. They focused on using the correct terminology while following the scientific method step by step. Through discussions and presentations, students practised being clear, precise, and effective communicators in science.

This week in Grade 3, the students have continued their exploration of the essential components needed to construct balanced arguments, with a particular emphasis on the distinction between fact and opinion. As part of their studies, they have learned how to differentiate between factual statements and opinions, and they have examined key language that can be used to identify certain statements as opinions.

Grade 4 students have been developing their communication skills by collaborating effectively in teams. They have been researching the solar system and creating displays in preparation for the upcoming science fair.

This week, Grade 5 students explored various types of science. They shared insights about how science is a vast field, encompassing multiple disciplines that focus on different aspects of the natural and physical world.

In Grade 6B, students showcased their skills as effective communicators by presenting their science experiments to the class, which they had prepared at home using the scientific method. This experience not only enhanced their public speaking abilities but also encouraged clear expression of their findings and insights.

This week in music class, students explored how music connects cultures and emotions, sharing ideas and feedback respectfully. Through group discussions and performances, they deepened their music knowledge while practising active listening and clear expression, showcasing growth as confident and thoughtful communicators.

This week in ICT, students from Grades 1 through 6 explored the importance of communication in the context of coding and technology. Through hands-on activities using Scratch Jr., Scratch programming, and Micro:bit, students developed both their technical skills and their ability to work collaboratively, share ideas, and explain their coding processes.

In the study of the Chinese language, effective communication is an important way to enhance learning outcomes, expand thinking, and develop language skills. 

This week, Grade 3 students discussed the texts' themes in groups and shared sentences they found beautiful and vivid, explaining their reasoning. The students listened carefully to others' opinions, understood differing viewpoints, and gained new knowledge and inspiration from their peers.

Grade 5 students studied the classic text "Borrowing Arrows with Straw Boats." They effectively developed a deeper understanding of the story's strategies and themes through detailed analysis and group discussions. The lesson highlighted Zhuge Liang's wisdom and resourcefulness, encouraging students to think critically about problem-solving and teamwork. They also explored historical context, enhancing their appreciation for classical literature.

Grade 6 and Grade 5 students continued debating "The Pros and Cons of the Internet" and experimented with static electricity by rubbing balloons and using memes to communicate their findings effectively. Grade 3 and Grade 4  studied "Transportation and Travel" and, through effective communication, started creating a simple version of "The History of Transportation Development."

Grade 2 students learned about "equal sharing" and the basics of division. Through hands-on activities and group collaboration, they effectively understood the concept of distributing items equally and began to grasp the names of the different parts of division. In class, students actively participated in practical activities such as sharing apples and candies, further solidifying their understanding of equal sharing. Through exercises and interactive games, they improved their calculation skills and developed teamwork and logical thinking. This effectively helped students build a preliminary understanding of division, laying a solid foundation for future learning.        

The tax rate and interest rate studied by sixth graders this week are important economic mathematics concepts that are widely used in real life and can effectively help students understand social and economic phenomena. After students learn tax rates, they can understand various tax scenarios in life, and students can understand the calculation method of deed tax. , understand the significance of paying taxes to national construction. After learning interest rate knowledge, students can effectively understand savings and loans, calculate the information they can obtain in the future based on different deposit interest rates, understand that reasonable savings can increase the value of money, and cultivate financial management awareness.

This week, Lower Primary played a ball-passing while Upper Primary progressed to using rackets in their rounders lesson. As students gained a greater understanding of the rules, students developed better communication skills with their team members on different strategies that can be used for success.

The PY boarding students demonstrated being effective learners this week by actively engaging in collaborative projects that encouraged critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Students took initiative in their learning by setting personal goals and reflecting on their progress throughout the week. Additionally, they utilised feedback from peers and teachers to enhance their understanding and performance as students.
