Music as an academic subject has its unique logic and theory. Students ought to understand the language of music, through which to appreciate and interpret the composers' creation, enrich their playing skills, and finally have the ability to complete their own music creation.

Year 10 students have just completed the study of IGCSE set work that Brandenburg Concerto in D major from J.S Bach. They have analysed the characteristics of music in Baroque period, the construction of a concerto, and the structure of fugue. We are moving from classical music to popular music and fusion. Students have just finished their first Blues composition work.

The students of Year 11 are going to have their IGCSE examination soon. We are currently reviewing the previous know ledges. Strengthening analysing ability by unfamiliar listening. Students are going to make preparation on their composition and performance portfolio.

A Level music involves music genre varying from classical till contemporary, pop and jazz, fusion, vocal music, film and television soundtrack, etc. Year 12 students have just finished the study of pop music and jazz, we learnt the development of pop music in the 1960s, analysed the works of Beatles, Courtney pine and Kate Bush. Year 13 are learning how to write four-part harmonies in the style of Bach. As they will get on their new journey to the university soon. I hope they can get a good result in the upcoming exam.
