Members of our academic team in Wellington College Hangzhou have rich teaching backgrounds with an average teaching experience of over ten years each, they lead a team of outstanding educators recruited from within China and around the world. We are committed to supporting and challenging our academic staff to be innovative in their work through a series of proven and robust professional learning programmes. Over 60% of the Chinese staff have a master’s degree with over 50% of them having overseas learning experience. More than 90% of the expatriate staff come from the UK, USA, Canada and other native English-speaking countries.

Many teachers have graduated from QS world ranked top 100 universities including Harvard University, Cambridge University, King's College London, University of Pennsylvania, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, University of Hong Kong and Zhejiang University.  Our own Wellington College China, Huili Institute of Learning will deliver many of these training programmes to ensure that our teachers continue to harness their work as educators, informed by the very highest quality research and practices from around the world.   

All academic SLT members at Wellington College Hangzhou have substantial teaching and management experience and will steer our teachers and academic staff according to our core values. Kathryn Richardson

惠灵顿杭州校区校长
Master of Wellington 
College Hangzhou


Kathryn Richardson现任惠灵顿杭州校区校长,持数学与科学教育学士学位、教育领导力和管理硕士学位,是中高层领导力国家资质的持证协作人。Kathryn校长从事教育行业已有20余年,曾在伦敦多所学校任教,并迅速晋升至领导岗位。2014年9月,她前往迪拜,担任一所英式国际学校的副校长,并于2016年成为该校新开设的姊妹学校的小学部校长。Kathryn热衷于学校建设工作,致力于让每个孩子都发挥真正的潜能。她重新设计了学校课程,进一步发挥课程的创造力、更加符合每个人的独特需求,拔高每一位学生的潜力。 

Ms Kathryn Richardson, Master of Wellington College Hangzhou, has been in Education for 21 years. She taught in London schools, where she quickly progressed into leadership positions. In September 2014, Kathryn moved to Dubai as a Deputy Head teacher in a British curriculum international school. In 2016, she was promoted to the Head of Primary at their newly opened sister school. Kathryn has a bachelor’s degree in Education, specialising in maths and science. In addition to this, she has a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Management and is a qualified facilitator for the National Qualifications of Middle and Senior Leadership. Kathryn has a passion for school improvement and strongly believes in ensuring every child reaches their true potential. Kathryn has redesigned school curriculums to be creative, personalised to each individual pupil, and provide challenge for all.

王晓云 | Ivey Wang

杭州惠立学校中方校长
Principal of Huili School Hangzhou


王晓云校长毕业于华东师范大学,获得汉语国际教育学士学位,并完成教育心理学硕士课程;拥有美国普利茅斯州立大学教育学硕士学位。王校长是国际文凭(IB)考官,持IB中学项目校长培训认证,哈佛大学校长领导力课程培训认证,美国第二语言教学委员会 ACTFL、正面管教等教师培训认证;同时也是华东师范大学汉语国际教育系硕士校外实践导师。 

王校长从事国际化教育工作近十七年,先后在上海多所一流国际学校任职,不断提升着多元文化理解、沟通力及国际先进教育理念的实践能力,并从一线教师逐步走向教学领导岗位。她曾任上海美国外籍人员子女学校K12课程主任,之后在苏州和上海的两所国际化双语学校担任中小学课程负责人及小学校长。她融汇中西方教育理念与智慧,建设高效协作的教师团队,促进双语沉浸式融合课程发展,始终致力于为学生发展创造更多机会。 

王校长坚信国际化教育工作者的使命是为学生提供面向未来的教育,关注学生的全人发展,提升学生全球胜任力与幸福力。她期望通过引领教育创新,培养兼具中国文化底蕴与国际视野,未来有能力在国际舞台上自信沟通,解决全球性问题的终身学习者。 

Ms Ivey Wang graduated from East China Normal University with a bachelor's degree in Chinese International Education and completed a master's degree course in Educational Psychology; she also holds a master's degree in Education from Plymouth State University. Ivey is an IB examiner and qualified IB Middle Years Programme(MYP) Principal. Ivey obtained the certification of Leading School Course from Harvard Graduate School and the teacher training certification of ACTFL and Positive Discipline; she is also the Off Campus Practice Project Advisor of East China Normal University. 

Ivey has been engaged in international education for nearly 17 years. She has worked in several top international schools in Shanghai, where she developed the skills of multicultural understanding and communication, as well as the knowledge and practice of internationally recognised pedagogy, and gradually became a leader from a teacher. Ivey worked as K12 Chinese Curriculum Coordinator at Shanghai American School, then served as school Curriculum Director and Primary School Principal at two international bilingual schools in Suzhou and Shanghai. She integrated Chinese and western education concepts and wisdom, built a collaborative and efficient team, led the development of an integrated bilingual immersion curriculum, and always committed to creating more opportunities for students’ development.  

Ivey adheres to the mission of International Educators, which is to provide future oriented education for students, focus on students’ holistic development, and improve their global competence and well-being. Through leading education innovations, she is dedicated to cultivating lifelong learners with deep Chinese cultural roots and international mindedness, who will be able to communicate confidently on the international stage and deal with global issues in the future.

Hatty Leung

高中部校长 
Head of Sixth Form


Hatty来自英国,持有爱丁堡大学数学硕士荣誉学位。毕业后,她于2005年进入极具声望的英国“以教为先”研究生项目,并找到自己一生的追求,即带领孩子领略数学的奇妙,激发学生对数学的热爱。入选北伦敦“杰出教师”项目后,她的教学天赋得以施展。在任教生涯中,Hatty逐渐晋升为学校数学学科的课程总监,带领一支富有活力的教学团队在首次会考中一举取得优异的成绩。在教学中,她不断带领学生和员工迎接挑战、创设系统化的支持,带领学生达到、超越既定目标。2012年,她加入香港启历英制国际学校,担任高中部副校长,是高中部创建团队成员之一,负责幸福关怀工作,密切关注学生的学业进步,提供升学支持。在她的指导下,许多学生成功进入许多世界知名学府,如牛津、剑桥和罗素集团盟校等。 

Hatty认为,教育的意义是启迪学生、传递对学习的热忱、帮助学生追求人生的兴趣所在。她为能投身教育行业而感到自豪。她相信,成功的教育是激发学生与生俱来的求知欲,培养学生具备健全和独立的人格,为下一阶段的学业及未来的长足发展做好充足的准备。

After completing her degree in Mathematics MA (Hons) at the University of Edinburgh, she began her career in education in 2005 through the prestigious graduate programme Teach First. Here, she knew she had found her calling; inspiring students to enjoy and be curious about the wonders of mathematics. Her talent for classroom practice was formalised with her admission to the Outstanding Teacher Programme in North London. As her career progressed, Hatty became School Director of Mathematics, where she led a dynamic team to great success through its first set of public examinations. By creating academic challenges and a system of support for her students and staff, she ensured that students met and exceeded their targets. Looking for change and adventure, Hatty began working at Kellett School, The British International School in Hong Kong in 2012. As Deputy Head of Sixth Form, she was an integral member of the founding Sixth Form team, where she oversaw pastoral care and closely monitored the academic progress of students while helping them on their paths to higher education. She has supported applicants to reach a wide variety of destinations, including Oxford and Cambridge and Russell Group universities. 

Hatty is proud and delighted to be in a profession where she inspires young minds to share her love of learning while facilitating the pursuit of their life interests. She believes that a successful education should feed a student’s innate curiosity to allow them to flourish into well-rounded, independent individuals who are fully prepared to thrive in higher education and beyond.  

Hatty believes that in Wellington College Hangzhou’s Sixth Form, students will receive world class pastoral care, exciting academic challenge and ample opportunity to develop as individuals.  Furthermore, she believes that empowering our students with an excellent education will enable them to succeed in their lives.

Stewart Brown

初中部和中学部校长
Head of Junior High and Senior School


Stewart来自英国,持有帝国理工学院的生物科学管理理科学士学位和诺丁汉大学的策略与管理硕士学位。他热爱教育,对所有人都有着很高的期待,坚定不移地追求卓越。2003年,他以伦敦“以教为先”项目的创始年领头人身份开启自己的教学生涯。他曾担任旗舰城市学院担任科学组组长,在伦敦东南部的机遇与挑战并存的多所学校担任生物和化学老师。2007年,Stewart离开英国,来到中国香港,在一所大型国际集团的顶尖学校担任科学组长。2011年,他前往另一所学校,帮助该校一步步成长为全球数一数二的英国国际学校之一。

Stewart既是一名出色的教师,也有着成功的领导经验。他致力于构建乐观向上的团队,有着极富感染力的学习热情。他在教育领域有着丰富的阅历,曾担任过考官、导师、项目组长、顾问和一家全国范围内协作网络的创始人,这些职位都旨在提高教育水准和成就。为表彰他在教育行业的奉献和积极影响,他被授予英国特许教学委员会成员(英国教师的最高职业荣誉)。Stewart认为,学校管理者的职责是将学术日程置于优先位置,打造出色的国际化教育。他相信,只有在世界领先的全方位幸福关怀体系的全力支持下,在聚焦积极教育、赋予学生掌握自身幸福的环境中,这些目标就能一一得到实现。 

Stewart is a proud educator who approaches his work with a deeply ingrained philosophy of high expectations for all, whilst being steadfast and tenacious in the pursuit of excellence. Stewart is from the UK, he studied Biochemistry with Management BSc. (Hons) at Imperial College London and then Strategy and Governance MA at Nottingham University. Stewart entered the teaching profession through Teach First in London, as a pioneer on the first year of the programme in 2003. He taught Biology and Chemistry in challenging but exciting schools in South East London, before leading the Science Faculty at the flagship City Academy. Stewart left the UK in 2007 and headed to Hong Kong, where he worked as a Science lead at the top performing school in a large international foundation.

In 2011 he helped build from the ground up what is now one of the highest achieving British international schools in the world.

Stewart’s own credibility stems from him being an outstanding teacher in his own classroom, and a leader with a consistent track record of high success. Stewart strives to build happy and collaborative teams, his enthusiasm and passion for learning are infectious. Stewart has a breadth of experience in education where he has served as an examiner, mentor, project lead, consultant and the founder of a country wide collaborative network - all roles or functions in the education industry with intent to raise standards and performance. In recognition of his commitment to, and ongoing positive impact upon the teaching profession, Stewart has been awarded Fellowship to the Chartered College of Teaching; the highest professional body for teaching in the UK. Stewart believes that his purpose as a leader is to put an academic agenda at the forefront of all decisions being made in the construction of an exceptional international education. He knows that this agenda can only be successful when fully supported by world class wrap-around pastoral care, with a keen focus on positive education which empowers students to be the masters of their own wellbeing.

李娜 | Nina Li

初中部和中学部副校长

李娜是一位英籍华人,毕业于中国上海师范大学和英国伦敦大学金匠学院。她持有中英两国教师资格证,有超过二十年的教学经验, 先后在中国上海的重点中学,英国伦敦优秀的公立学校,新加坡、马来西亚和中国的著名英国国际学校工作,担任过学科教师,班主任,学科负责人,集团课程编写组成员。她曾获得过校内的各种称号,比如“最受欢迎老师”,“最佳表现老师”,也在孔子课堂举办的全球国际汉语教学比赛中多次获奖。校外,她是剑桥国际教育评估机构的教师培训官,常常给全球的老师们举办讲座。 

李娜的教学理念来源自于她自己作为学生、家长和教师的经验。她相信强调技能才能让知识学以致用,安全有趣和愉快的氛围才能让学生自由全面地发展,学生也要学会为自己的学习负责,强调学习策略和逻辑思维。 

Nina Li is proudly British and Chinese holding both Chinese and British teaching qualifications having graduated from  Shanghai Teachers’ University in China and Goldsmiths College, University of London in the UK. She has over 20 years of teaching experience, having worked in selective schools in Shanghai,  outstanding state schools in London, and prestigious British International Schools in Singapore, Malaysia and China.  Nina was also a member of the curriculum development team for an education group. She has been awarded various titles within the schools, such as "Most Popular Teacher", "Best Performing Teacher", and has won several awards in international Chinese teaching competitions held by Confucius Classroom worldwide. Outside of school, she is a teachers’ trainer for exam board: Cambridge Assessment International Education. She often runs workshops and offers training to teachers around the world. 

Nina’s teaching philosophy comes from her own experience as a pupil, parent, and teacher. She believes that (i) emphasis on skills in order for knowledge to be applied (ii) a safe, fun and enjoyable atmosphere in order for pupils to develop freely and fully (iii) pupils must learn to take responsibility for their own learning, emphasising learning strategies and logical thinking.

郑丹丹 | Tracey Zheng

小学部校长 
Head of Primary


郑丹丹校长来自上海,获悉尼大学理学学士,教育学硕士和悉尼科技大学数学学科教学学士学位。  

她曾在悉尼Kuring-gai 高中任教。回国后,先后在北京和上海任教。2013年起,负责北京海淀外国语学校国际部双语数学课程体系的研发和实施,并在此期间获得第六届“中国——瑞典国际数学教育交流”论坛最佳研讨课。 

加入惠立之前的四年里,她曾担任上海浦东万科学校初中部创校校长,参与了学校从筹备到开办以及双语融合课程落地的全过程。在任期间,初中部取得了快速稳步的发展,首届毕业生升学取得了优异的成绩,纷纷升入国内外顶尖高中进行学习。 

她非常喜爱孩子,认为要适应未来的教学,我们应该培养学生在不同环境中主动学习的意识,自主、合作探究的能力和终身学习的习惯,最重要的是培养学生的仁爱之心,使其内心充盈,懂得思于脑且感于心。

Tracey, originally from Shanghai, graduated from the University of Sydney, Australia, with a bachelor’s degree in Science and a master’s degree in Education. In addition, she has a bachelor's teaching degree in Secondary Mathematics from the University of Technology, Sydney. After teaching  in Sydney, Tracey continued her career in Beijing and Shanghai.  From 2013 to 2016 Tracey developed and implemented the Bilingual Mathematics Curriculum in the International Division of the Beijing Haidian Foreign Languages School (BHFLS). During her career in BHFLS, her teaching was acknowledged with an award for the best demonstration of teaching in the Sixth “China-Sweden International Mathematics Education Forum”. Tracey previously worked as the Head of Secondary at Vanke School Pudong (VSP), and has played a vital role in the start-up of VSP, from preparation to the opening of the school and the continued development of the integrated bilingual curriculum. 

She believes that one of the important roles of an educator is to provide students with the skills to adapt to the demands of their future education; to cultivate in them the initiative to learn in various scenarios; to enhance self-directed learning and teamwork as well as to foster a life-long learning mindset. Tracey believes that as well as having the power of critical thinking, it is of paramount significance for students to develop benevolence as a way to enrich their inner selves and the worlds of others with whom they interact.

Laurence Burgess

小学部高年级副校长

Laurence持有欧洲商务管理荣誉文学学士和教育研究生文凭,曾在多所优质的英式学校和国际学校担任管理职位,他在阿曼的一所壳牌国际学校担任副校长,并在文莱的一所英国国防学院(英国教育标准局评级为优秀)担任助理校长。在加入惠立之前,他曾在俄罗斯的一所壳牌学校任职,负责国际小学课程的建设。在带领学校团队前行的路上,他希望能让学生充分体验秉承着学校价值观的多彩课程,开展兼具趣味与挑战的课业学习,培养音体美素养和儿童领导力,尝试技能提升的课外活动,同时建立起国际化视野、成长型思维和人文关怀。他坚信学习应当是乐趣与挑战并存、富有意义的,是秉持积极的价值观、朝着高标准努力的过程。 

With substantial leadership experience in a range of high quality British and International contexts, Laurence believes learning must be engaging, challenging and purposeful, all underpinned by strong values and high expectations.  Supporting and leading within the school team he is passionate that students experience a values based, broad and enriched curriculum. One that encompasses exciting and challenging academic areas whilst developing a passion for music, sports, innovation the arts and child leadership, in addition to a skills based extra-curricular programme. All of which are balanced with international mindedness, a growth mindset and care for others.  With close to 20 years of experience in education, he has previously worked as Deputy Headteacher of a Shell International School in Oman and Assistant Headteacher at an (OFSTED Outstanding) British Ministry of Defence school in Brunei Darussalam. Most recently he worked in a Shell affiliated international school in Russia, further developing the International Primary Curriculum. Laurence holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Education and a BA Hons in European Business Management from University of Wales, Cardiff and prior to finding his chosen career in education, he worked within the recruitment, marketing and logistics industries.

Sophie Brookes

幼儿园园长和小学低年级校长
Head of Early Years and Lower Primary


Sophie园长持有英国伯明翰大学的希腊和罗马研究学士学位。求学期间,她在伯明翰一所小学做志愿者,萌发了成为一名教师的念头,于是进入埃克塞特大学攻读小学教育的学位教师教育证书课程(PGCE)课程,专攻幼儿教育。 

Sophie园长专注于幼儿的发展和教育,对小学阶段的教学和管理也有丰富的经验。她曾先后在三个国家任教。获得了专业教师资格认证后,她在英国工作了一段时间,积累经验,之后加入了埃及开罗的英国国际学校并任教数年。回到伦敦后,她在伦敦一所享有盛誉的女子预科学校Sarum Hall School担任幼儿园部创校校长。2013年开始,Sophie园长将工作中心转移到中国,并在北京哈罗学校等知名国际学校担任领导岗位。 

Sophie园长曾是伦敦卡姆登区早期教育团队的教师带头人,她曾担任导师一职,并在杂志上发表关于幼儿教育的文章。Sophie园长始终不忘初心,以儿童为中心,倡导为儿童开展富有意义的教育,她对特殊教育需求也有浓厚兴趣。她的两个孩子目前就读于惠灵顿杭州校区。 

Sophie completed her Greek and Roman studies BA at the University of Birmingham, UK. Whilst volunteering at a local primary school,, she decided to become a teacher and undertook a PGCE at the University of Exeter in Primary Education with a specialism in the Early Years. 

Sophie's passion is the development and education of young children. However, she has a range of experience across the primary age group at teaching and management levels. During her career, Sophie has taught in various settings and in three different countries. After qualifying and spending time learning her craft in the UK, she joined the British International School, Cairo, where she stayed for several years. Upon returning to London, she became Head of Early Years Foundation Stage at Sarum Hall School, a highly respected prep school for girls in London. In 2013 Sophie joined Harrow Beijing as Head of Early Years and has been in China ever since, leading the Primary divs of MIS in Shenzhen and KCS in Chengdu.  

Sophie was a teacher moderator for the London Borough of Camden's Early Years team. She has also been an NQT mentor and has written articles about Early Childhood Education for several magazines. Sophie is passionate about child-centred education and the importance of meaningful education for children. She is also interested in Special Educational Needs.

杨柳漪 | Erica Yang

幼儿园副园长 
Deputy Head of Early Years


杨副园长持有新西兰高等教育学院幼儿教育硕士文凭和新西兰国家专业注册教师证书。她曾在新西兰任教五年,还曾在数所出色的幼儿园工作,开展新教师培训,积极参与制定和整合教学计划,支持管理团队建设。她的教学理念和实践深受瑞吉欧·埃米利亚教学法的影响。她相信每个孩子都是有能力和智慧的独特个体,并与孩子们建立起互相信任的师生关系,创建彼此尊重、互相包容和鼓舞人心的学习环境。多年的教学和管理工作激发了她温暖而有担当的教学热情和对各年龄段儿童的真挚的爱。她笃信终身学习的理念,珍视和孩子们一起学习的机会。在中国文化背景的熏陶下,她崇尚文化多样性,努力培养每个孩子积极的自我认知;同时,多年的海外留学和工作经历也赋予她独特的跨文化交流技巧,让她能理解、支持和帮助家长,共同建设积极的家园关系。她喜欢为团队贡献力量,相信理解、共情、支持和引导是卓越领导力的开始。

Erica has completed a Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education at the New Zealand Tertiary College and obtained a national-level New Zealand teaching certificate. She has been teaching in New Zealand for five years and has worked in leading early childhood centres. She supported the leadership team by training new teachers and actively developing and integrating curriculums. Reggio Emilia’s teaching methods influenced her, especially her philosophy and teaching practice. She believes that every child is a capable, unique and resourceful individual. She is committed to creating a respectful, inclusive and inspiring learning environment for children through trustworthy relationships. From her previous roles, she discovered her warm, responsible, and passionate nature and her sincere love for children of all ages. She cherishes the opportunity to learn with her children as she sees herself as a lifelong learner. As a teacher from a Chinese cultural background, she advocates cultural diversity and strives to foster a positive sense of self-identity in every child. Her overseas experience has also provided her with unique cross-cultural communication skills and the ability to understand, support and assist parents through positive relationships. Erica enjoys working in a team and believes effective leadership starts from understanding, empathy, supporting and mentoring.
