新学期伊始，吴老师代表学生会，主持了龙年新学年的第一场周晨会暨开学典礼。

At the beginning of the new term, Ms Wu, hosted the opening ceremony as the first Monday Assembly in the Year of the Dragon, on behalf of the Students Leadership Team (SLT).

首先，我们一同欢迎了本学期新加入莱克顿大家庭的新生和老师们。

First of all, we welcomed our new students and teachers who will be joining the Lucton family this term.

而后，担任总部理事长助理、校董会秘书的陈圆女士，代表校董会，在全校师生前, 宣布了新的人事任命：

Later on, Ms Chen Yuan, who served as the Assistant to the Managing Governor and the Secretary of the Governor, announced the new appointment on behalf of the governor board in front of all the teachers and students:

Our new Executive Headmaster Mr Tu delivered a message to all students for the new term：

“我对今天的开学典礼有三个关键词。

“I have three key words for today's assembly. 

第一个是“谢谢”。

我谨向CLEM PARRISH先生表示衷心的感谢。感谢您一直以来对全体师生的支持。当我们需要你的时候，你总是在我们身边。我还要感谢所有返校的学生和工作人员，感谢你们准时回来。

The first one is ‘Appreciation’. I want to express my sincere gratitude to Mr Clem Parrish. Thank you for your constant support to all the teachers and students. You were always around when we needed you. I also want to thank all the returning students and staff for your coming back on time. 

第二个关键词是“欢迎”。

热烈欢迎所有27名新生和一位新英文老师Gavin Qian加入到莱克顿大家庭。

The second key word is "Welcome". All 27 new students are warmly welcomed to join our Lucton family. Also we have a new English teacher, Gavin Qian. Welcome to Lucton Family. 

第三个关键词是“期望”。

我们对所有学生提出三个期望：第一，请为即将到来的5月和6月的全球考试做好充分的准备。杰出的学术成就对学生的进一步发展意义非常重大。所有老师都会尽力支持所有学生在全球统考中取得优异成绩。第二，更多的努力和精力将投入到晚自修中。希望所有参加晚自修的学生都能够做到“专注、安静、有序”。第三，我们将设置学生领导力团队协调员的角色，以促进学生领导力发展。希望更多品学兼优的同学加入到学生会，为学生会的发展添砖加瓦。”

The Third key word is "Expectation." We have three expectations for all students in this term: First, please make well preparation for the upcoming exam board exams in May and June. Outstanding academic achievements are very important for students’ further development. All teachers will try their best to support all students to achieve their best in the exam board exams. Second, more efforts and focus will be devoted to the Prep. All students in Prep are expected to be "focused, quiet and orderly". Third, we will set the role of Students Leadership Team Coordinator to enhance the development of the Students Leadership Team.”

紧随其后，升学指导和学生关爱主任仇老师向我们分享了新学期的班主任阵容，以及最新的十三年级升学数据统计。截止至2月18日，我们的准毕业生们共获得了125份Offers，其中包含了5封G5大学，100%的学生都拿到了QS世界前百大学Offer，68%的学生都拿到了QS世界前三十大学Offer。

Immediately afterwards, the Head of University Guidance and Pastoral Care, Ms Qiu introduced us the new tutor team for this term and the latest statistics of university guidance of Year 13. Till February 18th, our Class of 2024 graduating students have received a total of 125 offers, including 5 offers from G5 universities. 100% of students have received offers from QS Top 100 Universities, and 68% of students have received offers from QS Top 30 Universities.

在一片喜悦中，刚刚囊获剑桥录取offer的Ethan W同学，向大家分享了他在申请季的感受和心得。截至目前，他已经收到了来自香港大学，爱丁堡大学，伦敦大学学院，帝国理工和剑桥大学的录取通知。Ethan同学倾情分享了他如何保持努力备考的心态和积极的状态，为在座的莱克顿学弟学妹们提供了有效的经验之谈：“首先，不能等到13年级才去思考你们大学想学习什么专业，你们至少要在申请的前一年就做好决定。你们也可以开始思考要申请的大学、课程或是学院。如果你想申请牛剑的话，大学的官网会很有用处，可以查询到某个课程的A-level要求等信息。”

The joy of Ethan Wang, who has just received an offer from Cambridge, shared his feelings and insights during the application season. “First of all, you cannot wait until Year 13 to decide what you want to learn in University. You have to make up your mind at least a year before applying. You may also start thinking about the universities, courses and campuses. If you intend to apply for Oxbridge, the official website is always a good place to look for information, such as the A—Level requirements for certain courses.”

“在你选好专业之后，接下来就是要为之努力了。在学校的课程之外，我强烈建议大家在各自感兴趣的学科做一些超纲学习，尤其是那些想要去比较好的大学的同学。这些超纲的学习会给你一个不一样的视角来看待事物，而这会在写作文和面试时帮上大忙。一般学校的官网都会有推荐书单，从这个书单开始选书是个不错的选择。”

“Once you have decided which subject you want to learn, you then have to strive for it. Besides school work, you are strongly advised to do some advanced learning in the subject you are interested in. Especially if you want to go to a good university. The advanced learning will usually give you a different perspective on how things work and that is going to help a lot with your personal statement and interview. Usually, there is a recommended book list on the university official websites which is a good place to start with.”

至此，莱克顿的新学期就此拉开了序幕，这将会是又一个硕果满满的学期，充满活力，又值得回忆。

Last but not least, the new term in Lucton has begun. It will be a successful, dynamic and memorable year.
