UNIVERSITY FAIR

A1 Yifei Wang

A1 Max Geng

A1 Darren Geng

UNIVERSITY FAIR

Our IG2 and A1 students participated in the Spring University Fair at SUIS Gubei Campus on Tuesday. This significant event featured more than 140 universities and institutions from 14 countries worldwide, providing a valuable opportunity for all students, particularly the seniors.

During the fair, students proactively visited the booths of universities they were intrigued by to engage directly with admissions officers. This setup enabled students to efficiently and flexibly gather information about universities from various countries within a shorter timeframe. Students inquired about a wide range of topics, including campus life, curriculum, professional opportunities, and more, exploring every aspect of their interests.

Some students shared their thoughts after the fair.

A1 Yifei Wang

This was the first time I attended a college fair, and it was certainly a novel and enlightening experience! My greatest takeaway from the event was exploring potential colleges that I may not have had the chance to learn about otherwise, and I’ve heard that the same is true for many other students. For me, this was the Australian National University, which I then planned on getting to know more in depth after the fair; previously, I mainly focused only on UK and Hong Kong opportunities, but passing by the many banners of various other universities made me realise how my options may not be as limited as I thought. I asked questions about post-graduate employment and the safety of campuses, which are questions whose answers are most candid when asked face-to-face with the university representative, which this college fair allowed me to. Hence, this event did give me a clearer outlook on my opportunities all around the world.

A1 Max Geng

To be honest, I was not expecting the experience to be useful before the fair. Since all the info, including GPA requirements, language requirements, majors available, ranking, location, etc., is widely available online, But it turns out that it is not true. I've asked questions related to racism among international students, safety, and the level of study pressure. Such questions are more accurate from the mouths of universities themselves than from the internet. One thing I like about the representatives is that they won't over exaggerate their university to encourage students to apply. Overall, it's worth going.

A1 Darren Geng

I believe I have greatly benefited from attending the university fair. Through engaging with admission officers from various universities, I have acquired a comprehensive understanding of each university's campus features, environment, and academic focus. Unlike researching independently, these conversation have provided me with a deeper insight into the unique qualities and appeal of each university, expanding my range of choices. This experience has also enhanced my understanding of my personal interests and aspirations, offering valuable insights and preparations for my future university decisions.

The university fair has given students a fresh perspective on universities. For students, the focus for now should be on effectively gathering and evaluating information. This preparation will ensure that they approach the application stage with confidence and ease.
