Last week, the Nord Anglia schools in China held their largest performing arts festival, involving seven schools from across the region. This two-day festival involved students partaking in a number of workshops including Drama Devising, Physical theatre and Shakespeare, Dance, Choir, Orchestra, Samba, Rock Band and Chinese Instrument ensemble.
Students explored and worked on totally unseen material and this was then put onto the stage with tremendous success at the end of Day 2. The festival showcase covered three hours and will filled with some incredible material, the first half of which saw our schools undertaking a ‘We Are…’ showcase, showing their own school in the way the Performing Arts teams saw best, then the second half showcased the workshop items from the two days, which concluded with a wonderful finale of all 300+ students going to the stage and dancing to the samba band workshop.
Our NAIS Pudong students were very happy with their performances, both on and off stage. They relished this great opportunity to engage with professional teachers from other schools, make friends with students from other schools, communicate with each other and exchange skills.
On the bus journey back to Shanghai, the students were still energised and sang more songs together on the bus while also thinking ahead with ideas for next year's show.
