The current job market is undergoing a profound transformation led by artificial intelligence (AI) technology. From OpenAI's GPT-4 model demonstrating capabilities in text, code, and video content generation to AI's widespread applications in data analysis, customer service, healthcare, and autonomous driving, we see technology rapidly changing the nature of work.
Companies no longer seek single-skilled experts but prefer those who can work across fields, adapt quickly to new environments, think innovatively, and solve complex problems. Such talents typically possess the following characteristics:

Q: Ms. Zhou, can you give us an overview of this year's college admissions results at Huayao Collegiate?
A: This year, Huayao Collegiate welcomed its second cohort of graduates, with 61% receiving offers from top 50 US universities. The scholars showcased unprecedented diversity in their choice of majors, covering 33 popular fields including physics, chemistry, animal science, economics, environmental sustainability, psychology, creative writing, industrial design, game and interactive media, and pop music. Their interests span a wide range from natural sciences to humanities and social sciences.
Notably, many scholars chose outstanding but less commonly selected liberal arts colleges known for their high-quality small class teaching, close teacher-scholar relationships, and comprehensive educational resources. Additionally, fields beyond traditional disciplines such as arts, music, and sports also stood out in this year's admissions.

Q: How does Huayao Collegiate's college counseling work, and when does it start?
A: At Huayao Collegiate, we believe that college counseling should not be limited to the college application season. In fact, the process begins when scholars enter the seventh grade and continues throughout their secondary education. During middle school, we give scholars opportunities to explore their interests. From high school onwards, we focus on solidifying their academic foundation while guiding them to further leverage their strengths, showcase their individuality, and find the best universities and majors that fit them.

Q: How important are college rankings? Are liberal arts colleges worth applying to since they are not ranked among comprehensive universities?
A: Comprehensive universities often hold high positions in international rankings, emphasizing professional education and research with large scholar bodies. In contrast, liberal arts colleges focus on general education, cultivating critical thinking and interdisciplinary learning. For scholars seeking holistic development, the small class sizes and close teacher-scholar relationships in liberal arts colleges may be more suitable.
Notably, several scholars chose liberal arts colleges over well-known comprehensive universities after careful consideration. We can see that university is a place to deepen one's strengths rather than just pursuing fame. It’s important to follow one’s heart and truly achieve personal growth and development.
Q:到底要不要寻找外面的留学机构“打辅助”?跟着学校的申请指导就够了吗?

Q: Do you need to seek external study abroad agencies for assistance? Is following the school's application guidance sufficient?
A: We firmly believe that under the meticulous guidance of Huayao Collegiate’s college counselors, every scholar has the ability to complete their college applications independently. We encourage scholars to actively participate and take control of their application process, as this is an important decision affecting their future.
Unlike some commercialized, template-based study abroad agencies, we are committed to uncovering and showcasing each scholar’s uniqueness. During the application season, we work closely with scholars and families to plan every step, carefully select each school and major, and refine every application essay, ensuring universities see a vivid, thoughtful, and storied individual, not just a standardized application "product."
Q: How should the application essays be written to avoid being cliché?
A: At the initial brainstorming stage, scholars often find themselves in a "memory loss" state. At this time, we help them recall their campus life experiences. Often, stories they consider “insignificant” or even “failures” are cleverly incorporated into their essays. These stories not only showcase their unique thinking, perspective, and personality but also reflect their growth and resilience in adversity. During the essay preparation stage, we use a series of innovative brainstorming and writing exercises to help scholars reflect on past experiences, highlighting qualities that demonstrate their personality, values, ability to face challenges, or unique perspectives, creating a true, multidimensional, and profound applicant image.
Q: How do you discover these "insignificant" stories?
A: Huayao Collegiate’s college counseling is not just about answering scholars’ questions in the office; it’s about stepping into the classroom, observing scholars’ daily performances, and deeply understanding their interests and potential. We look beyond academic performance to include classroom participation, social skills, and psychological state. Only when we see scholars' eyes light up about something are we confident they can excel in related college studies and future careers in that field.

我们也会持续追踪毕业生的情况,让狄邦华曜的校友反哺学弟学妹们,不光是给当前毕业季的学者提供前沿的职业信息和建议,还能让低年龄的学者们看到一个个可以“够得着的榜样”。
Middle school scholars are usually interested in many things, making it difficult to find something that can truly develop into a major or even a career. Therefore, we continuously and periodically talk to scholars, allowing them to express freely and listening to their thoughts. We also use small tools to identify their interests.
For example, the G10 descriptive adjective exercise lets scholars choose words that best represent themselves and explain these words with specific examples. Scholars discover that they exhibit different states when doing different things, helping them understand their passions and personality.
In G11, the "My Essence Objects" activity asks scholars to select a few items representing their personality and values. These items could be a book, an instrument, or a photo with a story. Through these objects, scholars begin to identify their strengths and gradually clarify their future development direction.
Q: Besides the daily follow-up by college counselors, does Huayao Collegiate School offer any unique support for college applications?
A: Although Huayao Collegiate has only had two graduating classes so far, college counseling has been a long-standing "tradition" within Dipont Education Group. Every application season, Dipont headquarters’ college experts conduct multiple rounds of seminars to review and diagnose the applications of all graduates from Dipont schools, ensuring no "shining star" is overlooked.
We also continuously track the progress of alumni, allowing Huayao Collegiate alumni to give back to younger scholars. This not only provides current graduates with cutting-edge career information and advice but also offers younger scholars tangible role models to look up to.
Q:狄邦华曜创校仅四年,如何让全球的大学了解这所学校,并认可我们的毕业生?
A:学校的升学指导办公室一直在做大学的外联工作,增加海外院校对我们的认知,包括但不限于平时邀请海外校方代表做宣讲,去年和今年连续两年作为国际升学指导协会(IACAC)成员在海外参会,一方面建立联系,了解最新录取趋势、政策、项目,另一方面也在积极帮助学校在权威舞台展示我们的专业性。
Q: Huayao Collegiate has only been established for four years. How do you make global universities aware of the school and recognize our graduates?
A: The college counseling office continuously engages in outreach to increase international universities’ awareness of our school. This includes inviting overseas university representatives to give presentations and participating in international conferences hosted by the International Association for College Admission Counseling (IACAC) for two consecutive years. This helps us build connections, stay updated on the latest admissions trends, policies, and programs, and actively showcase our professionalism on authoritative platforms.
Q:何谓“大学”?大学能带给一个人最大的价值是什么?
A:大学不仅是学习已知知识的场所,更是一个探索未知、培养独立思考和解决问题能力的环境。大学教育应该帮助学生实现"为学"和"为人"的双重目标,即在积累学术知识的同时,也要学会如何与人交流、建立关系。
Q:AI技术发展迅猛,我们如何才能不被AI取代?
A:自ChatGPT横空出世之后,一直有学者和家长表示担忧。AI虽然很强大,但终究是人类智慧的延伸,因此大可不必将AI视为威胁,而应乐观地接纳这是一种更便捷的工具,可以被人类掌握和运用。未来,拥有批判性思维,学会提问,敢于质疑AI所给出的“答案”将会是一种更为宝贵的能力。
Q: What is a "university"? What is the greatest value that a university can offer an individual?
A: A university is not only a place to learn known knowledge but also an environment to explore the unknown, fostering independent thinking and problem-solving skills. University education should help scholars achieve the dual goals of "learning" and "personal growth," accumulating academic knowledge while learning how to communicate and build relationships with others.
Q: With the rapid development of AI technology, how can we avoid being replaced by AI?
A: Since the emergence of ChatGPT, scholars and parents have expressed concerns. While AI is powerful, it is ultimately an extension of human wisdom. Therefore, we should not see AI as a threat but optimistically accept it as a more convenient tool that humans can master and use. In the future, having critical thinking, learning to ask questions, and daring to challenge the "answers" provided by AI will be increasingly valuable skills.
