“我曾热衷于观看《复仇者联盟》、《钢铁侠》这类的科幻巨制，心中不时萌生出成为编剧或导演的梦想，也对音乐、舞蹈抱有向往。然而，当我逐一尝试将这些兴趣付诸实践后，我发现自己内心深处最热衷且长久坚持的，还是体育运动。它让我乐此不疲，始终充满热情。”

Jimmy作为创校生，是和狄邦华曜一路成长起来的学者，他始终记得初三那年，刚从江西南昌一所体制内学校转到HC，最令他印象深刻的是狄邦华曜提供的丰富多样的课程以及那豪华的运动场地。让那个曾在学习中迷茫却热爱运动的男孩，仿佛看到适合自己成长的理想之地。

在这所倡导个性化教育的美式校园里，Jimmy如鱼得水，不仅在课堂上找回了学习的自信，还在运动场上找到了自己未来发展的方向。作为今年G12毕业生，Jimmy凭借自己优异的成绩，收获了来自美国富兰克林马歇尔学院、罗格斯大学、东北大学、康涅狄格大学、雪城大学等一众名校的offer。

今年8月份，他将奔赴美国东北大学学习健康科学专业，追逐那属于自己的热爱。

Sports-loving boys now have more options than just sports schools, receiving offers from prestigious universities worldwide for sports science programs.

“I used to be passionate about watching sci-fi blockbusters like ‘The Avengers' and ‘Iron Man' and often dreamed of becoming a screenwriter or director. I also had a strong interest in music and dance. However, after trying out these interests one by one, I discovered that my deepest and most enduring passion is sports. It keeps me tirelessly engaged and always full of enthusiasm.”

As a founding student, Jimmy grew up with Huayao Collegiate. He still remembers his third year of junior high school when he transferred from a traditional school in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, to HC. What impressed him the most were the diverse courses offered by Huayao Collegiate and the luxurious sports facilities. It was like finding the ideal place for growth for a boy who was confused about his studies but loved sports.

In this American-style campus that advocates personalized education, Jimmy thrived. Not only did he regain his confidence in the classroom, but he also found his future direction on the sports field. As a G12 graduate this year, Jimmy, with his outstanding academic performance, received offers from prestigious universities including Franklin & Marshall College, Rutgers University, Northeastern University, University of Connecticut, and Syracuse University.

This August, he will head to Northeastern University in the United States to study Health Science, chasing his passion.

谈起最初Jimmy与运动专业的结缘，还要从初中时的经历说起。

在南昌的公立学校就读时，Jimmy时常被一张张密密麻麻、似乎永无尽头的成绩排名所包围。在那片由数字堆砌的海洋中，让成绩平平的他，难免感到自己被淹没在浩瀚无垠的学生人潮之中，难以脱颖而出。

进入八年级后，日益沉重的学业负担，还致使Jimmy不得不暂停了长时间学习的拉丁舞和竹笛。每当夜深人静，他总会不由自主地想起那些与舞伴共舞、与竹笛相伴的日子，心中充满了无尽的怀念与不舍。

那时的Jimmy，每日放学归来，脸上总是挂着挥之不去的忧郁。深爱他的父母看在眼里，急在心里，于是提出了一个全新的思路——全家搬迁至上海，让他九年级转轨到国际学校，或许这能成为他人生道路上的一个转折点。

正如《阿甘正传》中的Forrest Gump在迷茫和困惑时总能想起母亲鼓励他的话 ：“生活就像一盒巧克力，你永远不知道下一块会是什么味道。”对于Jimmy来说，换个赛道、换种多元化的教育方式何尝不是给予他新的希望与无限的力量。

也正是这一决定发生在疫情笼罩全球的2020年，让他意外地与运动结下了不解之缘。起初，或许只是出于对健康的渴望，或是想要寻找一种释放压力的方式，他踏入了运动的世界。

在转校前短暂的脱产时间里，Jimmy一边忙于学英语考小托福，一边尝试通过运动调整自己的状态。那时，他的身形尚未如今日般高大健硕，背影之中透露出更多的是一份青涩与稚嫩。

“以前在体制内的学校里跑800米、3000米完全是为了中考体育而做准备，跑步是一件目的性很强的事情，没有任何乐趣，面对不断加大强度的训练是很痛苦的。”

直到他离开公立学校的束缚，开始有机会自己做计划，主导自己的时间和身体训练节奏，他才体会到跑步的另一种境界——那是一种源自内心的热爱与自由。不再是为了应试的压力，不再是为了达到某个外在的标准，跑步成了一种享受自我挑战、感受身体极限并逐渐突破它的过程。而这一真切的感受，恰恰成为了后来Jimmy与狄邦华曜产生共鸣的桥梁。

To talk about how Jimmy first got involved with sports, we have to start from his middle school years.

While attending a public school in Nanchang, Jimmy was often surrounded by dense and seemingly endless ranking lists. In that ocean of numbers, it was hard for an average student like him to stand out, and he often felt lost in the vast crowd of students.

In the eighth grade, the increasing academic burden forced Jimmy to pause his long-time studies in Latin dance and bamboo flute. Late at night, he would often think back to those days dancing with his partner and playing the flute, filled with endless nostalgia and reluctance to let go.

Seeing Jimmy's sadness, his loving parents proposed a new idea: the whole family would move to Shanghai, allowing him to transfer to an international school in ninth grade. Perhaps this could become a turning point in his life.

Just like how Forrest Gump always recalled his mother's encouraging words when he was confused: "Life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you're gonna get." For Jimmy, switching to a different path and a more diverse educational system gave him new hope and immense strength.

This decision, made during the global pandemic in 2020, unexpectedly led him to form an inseparable bond with sports. Initially, it might have been driven by a desire for health or a way to relieve stress, but he stepped into the world of sports.

During the short break before transferring schools, Jimmy was busy studying English for the TOEFL test and trying to adjust himself through sports. At that time, he was not as tall and strong as he is now, and his silhouette revealed more of a youthful and tender side.

"In the traditional school, running 800 meters and 3000 meters was entirely to prepare for the physical fitness test for high school entrance exams. Running was a highly goal-oriented activity with no fun at all, and facing the increasing intensity of training was very painful."

It wasn't until he left the constraints of the public school and had the opportunity to make his own plans, controlling his time and training pace, that he experienced another realm of running—one driven by an inner love and sense of freedom. No longer was it about the pressure of exams or meeting an external standard; running became a process of enjoying self-challenge, feeling the limits of his body, and gradually surpassing them. This genuine feeling became the bridge that later resonated between Jimmy and Huayao Collegiate.

就这样，Jimmy怀揣着在奔跑中获得的成长喜悦，踏入了狄邦华曜的校门，由此开启他人生中一段新的学习之旅。

回想起四年前刚走进HC时，他被眼前的景象深深触动：在这片融合了石库门风格与现代气息的教学楼群中，豪华的运动场馆错落其间。让Jimmy印象深刻的，还有狄邦华曜独具特色的个性化选课和分层教学模式，这两个亮点仿佛是为他量身定制，瞬间击中了他的学习需求和成长渴望。

个性化选课让他能够根据自己的兴趣、优势及未来规划，自由选择适合自己的课程，这种灵活性极大地激发了他的学习动力和创造力。而分层教学的实施，则确保了他能在适合自己的难度层次上得到最有效的指导，无论是基础巩固还是进阶提升，都能找到最适合自己的节奏和路径。

在这样的教育环境中，Jimmy迅速融入了这个充满活力、多元包容的HC社区。

在狄邦华曜的学习时光中，Jimmy不仅重启了初中时因学业压力而搁置的兴趣爱好，跟随舞蹈老师Mr. Dan在冬季音乐会上优雅地旋转华尔兹，还在夏日清风音乐会上，与志同道合的伙伴们组建了一支表演乐队，手持竹笛，吹奏出悠扬动听的旋律。

此外，他还在戏剧课上意外地发现了自己对表演的热爱，勇敢地站在了舞台上，成功出演了经典剧目《Hercules》，展现了非凡的舞台魅力，让他不禁设想过或许编剧或导演也可以成为他未来的发展方向。

同时， Jimmy的学术成绩也发生了翻天覆地的变化，尤其是数学、生物、物理这三门曾让他头疼不已的学科。狄邦华曜的教学环境、师资力量以及丰富的学习资源，为他打开了一扇通往新世界的大门。

在数学课上，郭惠老师通过生动的实例和互动讨论，让复杂的公式和定理变得易于理解；在生物和物理实验中，他亲手操作，亲眼见证科学原理的奥妙，这种直观的学习体验让他对这两门学科破除了畏惧的心理。

如何将课堂上的学科知识与自己的爱好相结合呢？在学习“细胞的能量转换”时，Jimmy获得了灵感。

当生物老师介绍到各类食物的热量，提出了“补充哪些营养会帮助身体提升运动表现”，“如何根据个人体重、身高的计算身体一天消耗的卡路里？”等现实问题，引起了一直坚持跑步的Jimmy深入思考。

课后，Jimmy不仅制定了详尽的饮食计划表，还将其细化到了每一餐，确保摄入的食物既能满足日常能量需求，又能促进身体健康与运动表现的提升。除此之外，他开始自发的学习与运动机能相关的生物知识，对营养学、运动科学展开了解，并乐此不疲、沉浸在因兴趣而萌发的知识探索中。

如果说，狄邦华曜高中阶段83门灵活且多元化的课程体系，为Jimmy搭建了一个广阔的探索平台。与此同时，与这些课程相辅相成的升学指导团队，则为未来会迈入大学的学者指引了前行的道路。

正当Jimmy为未来的专业方向犹豫不决时，升学指导老师周稀静与他进行了一次次深入的谈话。

在那段时间，周老师不仅细致的分析了Jimmy在数学、生物、物理等学科的成绩优势，还敏锐地捕捉到了他在运动方面展现出的热情——从个人跑到创立跑步社团，还积极参与运动会、毅力跑等校园活动，无不透露出他对运动的热爱与坚持。因此，周老师建议他可以考虑将运动相关的专业作为未来发展的方向，这一提议也和Jimmy的想法不谋而合。

With the joy of growth he gained from running, Jimmy stepped into the gates of Huayao Collegiate, beginning a new chapter in his educational journey.

Reflecting on his first arrival at HC four years ago, he was deeply moved by what he saw: a blend of Shikumen style and modern architecture, with luxurious sports facilities scattered throughout. What impressed Jimmy the most were the unique personalized course selection and tiered teaching model at Huayao Collegiate. These two highlights seemed tailor-made for him, instantly meeting his learning needs and growth aspirations.

The personalized course selection allowed him to choose courses based on his interests, strengths, and future plans. This flexibility greatly stimulated his motivation and creativity. The implementation of tiered teaching ensured that he received the most effective guidance at the appropriate difficulty level, whether it was for foundational consolidation or advanced improvement, allowing him to find the rhythm and path that suited him best. In such an educational environment, Jimmy quickly integrated into the vibrant and inclusive HC community.

During his time at Huayao Collegiate, Jimmy not only resumed the hobbies he had put aside due to academic pressure in middle school—gracefully waltzing with dance teacher Mr. Dan at the Winter Concert and forming a performance band with like-minded friends at the Summer Breeze Music Festival, playing melodious tunes on his bamboo flute.

Additionally, he discovered a passion for acting in drama class, bravely taking the stage and successfully starring in the classic play ‘Hercules’ showcasing his exceptional stage presence. This experience even led him to consider scriptwriting or directing as potential future career paths.

Meanwhile, Jimmy's academic performance underwent a dramatic transformation, particularly in mathematics, biology, and physics, subjects that had previously caused him great difficulty. The educational environment, faculty, and abundant learning resources at Huayao Collegiate opened a new world for him.

In math class, Ms. Guo Hui used vivid examples and interactive discussions to make complex formulas and theorems easier to understand. In biology and physics experiments, he conducted hands-on experiments, witnessing the wonders of scientific principles firsthand. This direct learning experience helped him overcome his fear of these subjects.

How could he combine classroom knowledge with his hobbies? Jimmy found inspiration while studying "cellular energy conversion."

When his biology teacher discussed the caloric content of various foods and posed questions like “What nutrients enhance athletic performance?” and “How to calculate daily caloric expenditure based on personal weight and height?” Jimmy, who had always been a dedicated runner, began to think deeply.

After class, Jimmy not only created a detailed meal plan but also refined it to include every meal, ensuring that his food intake met daily energy needs while promoting health and athletic performance. Additionally, he began independently studying biological knowledge related to sports functions, delving into nutrition and sports science with enthusiasm, immersing himself in knowledge sparked by his interests.

If Huayao Collegiate’s diverse and flexible curriculum of 83 courses in high school provided Jimmy with a broad platform for exploration, the complementary college counseling team guided scholars towards their future university paths.

When Jimmy was uncertain about his future major, college counselor Ms. Zhou had multiple in-depth conversations with him.

During that time, Ms. Zhou not only meticulously analyzed Jimmy’s strengths in subjects like mathematics, biology, and physics but also keenly observed his passion for sports—from personal running to founding a running club and actively participating in sports meets and endurance runs. This passion and persistence were evident. Therefore, Ms. Zhou suggested that he consider pursuing a sports-related major in the future, a proposal that resonated with Jimmy’s own thoughts.

“未来充满不确定性，能确定的就只有坚持自己所热爱的、所选择的东西，把它做到最好。”Jimmy带着这份信念，每一步都踏得更加坚实有力。

他开始更加深入地研究健康科学、运动科学、营养学相关的知识，从理论到实践，从课堂到赛场，不断拓宽自己的知识边界和实践经验。在追求梦想的路上，Jimmy还在HC社区包容的环境里遇到了志同道合的伙伴，他们相互激励，共同进步，在无数次讨论与实验中碰撞出思想的火花。同时，他也得到了来自周老师、郭老师等多位师者的悉心指导与帮助。

在十一年级暑假Jimmy凭借着自己优异的成绩和丰富的活动经历，申请到了马萨诸塞大学阿默斯特分校(UMASS Amherst)的夏校研学机会，通过运动机能(kinesiology)课程学习，认识到了不同人群的运动和身体活动对健康和福祉的重要影响。

在海外大学的课堂上，他与来自世界各地的同龄人们探究了肌肉的构成、功能，预防疾病的方法、措施，以及如何提高个人机能问题；在开展项目中，他和同伴们相互配合测量血压、探讨如何恢复脚踝伤病、如何帮助截肢患者康复等相关问题。

这次短暂的海外学习经历，让Jimmy见识到了更广阔的世界。他意识到，狄邦华曜所赋予他的，远不止于流利的英语能力和完善的知识体系，这些固然是他攀登知识高峰的坚实基石，但更为宝贵的是，HC塑造了他追求梦想的勇气、培养了他更加自主和自信的人格，以及教会了他如何以开放的心态去拥抱这个多元而复杂的世界。

如果，没有4年前的那次转轨国际教育的抉择，Jimmy的人生轨迹会是完全另外的样子。如今再回首，他很庆幸和家人一起做出了一个更适合自己的选择。

当他收到来自美国知名学府的多封录取通知书时，他深知这不仅仅是对他过去努力的肯定，更是对他未来无限可能的期许。他将带着这份认可，即将踏上了新的征程。在未来的大学时光里，他将继续秉持着那份对运动的热爱与执着，勇往直前，为人类的健康与幸福贡献自己的力量。

"The future is full of uncertainties; the only thing you can be sure of is to persist in what you love and choose, and do it to the best of your ability." With this belief, Jimmy takes each step with greater strength and determination.

He began to delve deeper into the knowledge related to health science, exercise science, and dietetics , from theory to practice, from the classroom to the field, continually expanding his knowledge and practical experience. On the path to pursuing his dreams, Jimmy also found like-minded partners in the inclusive environment of the HC community. They inspired each other and made progress together, sparking ideas through numerous discussions and experiments. At the same time, he received thoughtful guidance and assistance from teachers like Ms. Zhou and Ms. Guo.

During the summer of his eleventh grade, Jimmy, with his excellent grades and rich extracurricular activities, applied for and was accepted into a summer study program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMASS Amherst). Through the kinesiology course, he learned about the significant impact of sports and physical activities on the health and well-being of different populations.

In the overseas university classroom, he explored muscle composition and function, disease prevention methods, and ways to improve personal fitness with peers from around the world. During project work, he and his teammates measured blood pressure, discussed ankle injury recovery, and studied rehabilitation for amputees, among other topics.

This brief overseas study experience exposed Jimmy to a broader world. He realized that what Huayao Collegiate had given him went far beyond fluent English and a comprehensive knowledge system. These were solid foundations for his academic pursuits, but even more valuable were the courage to chase his dreams, the autonomy and confidence he developed, and the ability to embrace a diverse and complex world with an open mind.

Without the decision to switch to international education four years ago, Jimmy’s life trajectory would have been entirely different. Looking back now, he is grateful for the choice he made with his family.

When he received multiple acceptance letters from prestigious American universities, he knew that this was not only a recognition of his past efforts but also an expectation of his future potential. He will embark on a new journey with this acknowledgment. In his future university life, he will continue to uphold his passion and dedication to sport, moving forward with determination and contributing to the health and happiness of humanity.
