亲爱的老师们、同学们,大家好!

Hello everyone, good afternoon!


欢迎你们回到宏润博源,也欢迎每一位新加入的同学,能够在这里代表所有的的老师发言,我感到十分荣幸!

Welcome back to SHBS! I also extend a warm welcome to each new student. It is an honor for me to speak here on behalf of all faculty members!


相信你们都度过了一个愉快的暑假,有的同学已经准备好迎接新学期的挑战,设定了新的目标;有的同学还在怀念暑假的快乐时光,希望开学来的晚一点。但无论如何,我们都站在了一个新的起点上。

I believe you all had an enjoyable summer vacation. Some of you are already prepared to face the challenges of the new semester, setting new goals for yourselves, while others might still be lingering in the joys of summer, hoping the new semester will arrive a little later. But no matter what, here we are, standing at this new beginning.


看着你们充满青春气息的脸孔,我常常恍惚,仿佛回到了自己的学生时代,和你们一样紧张而又期待地迎接着新学期的到来。

Seeing your youthful and energetic faces, I often find myself in a daze, as if I've returned to my student days, eagerly and nervously anticipating the beginning of a new school year, just like you.


我曾经是一个老师和家长心中的“乖孩子”,听话、懂事、成绩优秀。随波逐流,接受安排,这大概就是大多数中国孩子的童年和学生生涯。

I was once the "good child" in the eyes of my teachers and parents—never causing trouble, well-behaved, and excelling in my studies. I went with whatever was planned for me, without much thought. This might sound familiar to many of you, as it's a common experience for many students growing up in China.


我曾经学了很多年的画画,我曾梦想去学设计、学动漫、学油画,学任何一个与艺术相关的专业。然而我最终选择的是物理专业,因为我父母觉得理科会比艺术更实用。毕业后我成为了一位老师,因为老师的工作很稳定。

I spent many years learning to draw and once dreamed of studying design, animation, oil painting, or any art-related field. However, I ended up choosing physics as my major because my parents believed that science would be more useful than art. After graduation, I became a teacher because it was a stable job.


直到工作多年以后,我才开始思考:我到底在做什么,我又为我的学生么做了些什么?我在重点高中教书的十年,送走了一波又一波的学生,就如同流水线一般。他们中的大多数人可能和我当初一样,对学习并无兴趣,只是为了应付高考。

It wasn’t until many years into my career that I began to question: What am I doing? What have I done for my students? I spent ten years teaching at a top high school, sending waves of students to take the Gaokao, just like on a production line. Most of them, like I was, had little interest in learning, studying only to get through the exams.


我看到了学习沦为了选拔的工具,看到了被压抑但是不敢呐喊的心灵,看到了学习者失去了学习的兴趣和动力。于是我毅然决定要做点什么,我创办了一个STEM机构,希望让更多的孩子体验到科学的乐趣,不要从小就失去了思考的能力。因为教育和艺术一样,都是传播情感、思想和价值的途径。

I saw learning had become a tool for selection, I saw repressed souls who dared not speak out, I saw students losing their interest and motivation to learn. So I decided to do something. I founded a STEM institution with the hope that more children could experience the joy of science and not lose their ability to think critically from a young age. Because, like art, education is a means of spreading emotions, thoughts, and values.


三年前,我遇到了Bowen校长,我们探讨了很多关于教育的理想和愿景,我被吸引,我知道这所学校将会给很多学生带来不一样的未来。我选择加入这里。 

Three years ago, I met Mr. Bowen. We discussed many ideals and visions about education. I was drawn in because I knew this school would provide a different future for many students. I chose to join.


在这里,可以让学习回归本质,可以体验科学的神奇和美,可以体验人文的深邃与温暖,而最重要的是你们可以做出选择!

Here, learning can be what it is. You can experience the wonder and beauty of science, the depth and warmth of the humanities, and most importantly, you can make choices!


你们可以去聆听、去思考、去体验、去感受,在此之后你可以说是,或者不。

You can listen, think, experience, and feel. After that, you can decide to say yes or no.


当你发现学物理也许只是为了知道足球为什么会在空中划出一道弧线,学化学也许是为了知道怎样才能洗干净茶壶里的水垢,学生物也许是为了知道怎么样才能让自己减掉更多赘肉,学经济也许只是为了知道一罐可口可乐到底赚了我多少钱,学历史也许只是为了了解某个游戏角色的背景……

When you realize that learning physics might be just to understand why a football curves in the air, learning chemistry might be to know how to clean limescale from a kettle, learning biology might be to find out how to lose more weight, learning economics might be to figure out how much profit a can of Coca-Cola makes, learning history might be to understand the background of a video game character...


学习就不再可怕,上课也不再无趣,你可以和老师聊天、讨论、分享以及提出不同意见。

Learning will no longer be scary, and classes will no longer be boring. You can chat, discuss, share, and debate with your teachers.


希望能看到越来越多的同学能在上课抬起头,抓住老师的眼神,问更多的为什么,更敢于提出质疑和不同意见。

I hope to see more students raising their heads in class, catching the teacher's eye, asking more "whys," and daring to question and express different viewpoints.


这才是学习的意义!

这才是我们为人师的真正意义!
