在狄邦华曜学校，我们深知艺术与体育对于学者全面发展的重要性，因此新成立了艺体中心（Arts & Sports Center），旨在打破学部间的界限，通过跨学科合作，为学者提供更广阔的发展平台。

如今，新学期已过去近两个月，艺体中心正逐步推动学校艺术与体育活动的发展，为学者的个性成长和社交技能提升创造丰富机遇。本文采访了艺术总监Michella Du老师和体育总监Alan Yuan老师，让我们一同见证艺体中心的进展，期待它如何继续激发学者的潜力，为校园生活增添更多色彩。

At Huayao Collegiate School, we recognize the vital role that arts and sports play in the holistic development of our students. With this in mind, the Arts & Sports Center was established to break down barriers between departments and foster interdisciplinary collaboration, providing a broader platform for student growth.

As we settle into the new semester, the Arts & Sports Center has already made significant strides in promoting a variety of art and sports activities. These initiatives offer numerous opportunities for personal growth and the development of social skills. This article features interviews with Art Director Ms. Michella Du and Sports Director Mr. Alan Yuan, offering insight into the progress of the Arts & Sports Center and anticipate how it will continue to inspire our students, adding more color and vibrancy to campus life.

学校提供了一系列丰富多样的艺术课程，不仅让艺术学科的老师继续精进专业内的艺术课程，还鼓励非艺术背景的老师根据自己的特长开设特色课程。例如，语文老师开设的手串制作班和历史老师开设的数字油画课程。

这些丰富多元的课程不仅提升了学者的动手能力，也为校园文化增添了多彩元素。此外，中学阶段的艺术课程更倾向于专业化，如管弦乐、舞蹈等，旨在帮助学者在特定领域深入发展，为他们的未来发展奠定坚实的基础。

Huayao Collegiate offers an extensive range of art courses, designed to encourage both specialized teaching and cross-disciplinary creativity. Art teachers are refining their expertise, while teachers from non-art subjects are creating unique classes based on their strengths. For instance, a Chinese language teacher may lead a bracelet-making class, while a history teacher might offer a digital oil painting course. 

These diverse offerings not only enhance students’ practical skills but also contribute to a vibrant campus culture. At the secondary level, courses such as orchestral music and dance focus on deeper specialization, laying a solid foundation for students’ futures in the arts.

艺术中心不仅注重学者艺术才能的培养，还致力于为他们提供丰富的展示平台。校内，学校定期举办艺术周和冬季音乐会等活动，这些活动为学者创造了一个展示自己艺术才华的舞台，让他们在同伴、老师和家长面前展现所学，增强自信，并从观众的反馈中获得宝贵的经验。

校外，艺术中心同时积极寻求国际化艺术活动的交流机会，让学者在更广阔的平台上展示自我，体验不同文化，从而促进学者艺术素养和综合素质的全面提升。

The Art Center prioritizes creating platforms for students to showcase their talents. Regular school events, such as Art Week and Winter Concerts, give students the opportunity to perform for their peers, teachers, and parents, boosting their confidence and honing their presentation skills. 

Beyond school, the Art Center actively seeks international exchange opportunities, where students can present their work on a broader stage, experience different cultures, and develop their artistic abilities.

学校通过跨学部合作的方式，如组建管弦乐团，为不同年级的学者提供了共同学习的机会，并实施分层教学以满足不同水平学者的需求。通过这种方式，学校不仅促进了不同年级学者之间的交流，还提高了教学效果。

与此同时，学校计划引入外部资源，为学者提供更多参与艺术活动的机会，例如参观美术馆、聆听音乐会等研学活动等。

Interdepartmental projects, such as forming a school orchestra, enable students from different grades to learn and collaborate together. Tiered teaching is implemented to cater to students at various skill levels, enhancing both communication and learning effectiveness. 

Additionally, the school plans to introduce external resources, such as visits to art galleries, concerts, and educational trips, to expand students' exposure to the arts.

体育中心致力于提供丰富多元的体育类延展课Life Block课程与活动，旨在激发学者对体育的热爱并满足他们的多样化需求。除了传统的三大球，中心还引入了如皮艇球等创新体育项目，并利用校内赛事级标准化游泳池进行训练，增强了学者的身体素质和体育技能。展望未来，学校计划在数月内训练出能参加皮艇球比赛的队伍。

此外，橄榄球作为学校的强势传统项目，一直在校内外的比赛中取得了显著成绩，深受学者和家长的欢迎。

The Sports Center offers a wide array of PE courses and Life Block activities designed to spark students’ passion for sports. In addition to traditional team sports like basketball, football, and volleyball, innovative programs such as kayak polo are being introduced. Utilizing the school’s competition-standard swimming pool, kayak polo helps students develop physical fitness and new sporting skills. The school is also working to establish a competitive kayak polo team in the coming months. 

Rugby, a longstanding favorite at the school, continues to see success in both internal and external competitions, and remains highly popular with students and parents alike.

学校正积极备战即将到来的排球、篮球和足球赛季，通过组织训练和比赛，致力于提升学者的竞技水平和团队合作能力。其中，排球校队是学校体育强势项目之一，男女队加起来有近30人，目前正在备战10月末的比赛中。

随后，学校也计划在未来几个月承办篮球联赛，进一步积累学者的实战经验，增强学校的体育竞技水平和社区凝聚力。

Huayao Collegiate is actively preparing for upcoming volleyball, basketball, and soccer seasons by organizing training sessions and matches to strengthen students’ competitive and teamwork skills. Volleyball, in particular, is one of the school’s most prominent sports, with nearly 30 students across the boys’ and girls’ teams training for matches in late October. 

Following the volleyball season, the school plans to host a basketball league, further enriching students’ competitive experience and fostering a strong sense of community.

学校高度重视家长的诉求与反馈，通过与家长的积极沟通，深入了解他们对体育类课程和活动的期望，并致力于寻找和实施解决方案。

在本学年的下半学期，学校会一如既往举办全校运动会，正在构想的开幕式将是一个重要的亮点。小学、初中、高中各个学部都将参与其中，通过精心策划的入场式和富有创意的表演，彰显各自学部的特色和精神。

The school values parent feedback and actively engages with them to ensure their expectations for sports activities are met. 

As in previous years, the school will host its annual Sports Day during the second half of the academic year, with all divisions—primary, middle, and high school—participating. The opening ceremony promises to be a highlight, featuring vibrant parades and performances that showcase each division’s unique spirit and character.
