At NAIS Pudong, we strive to achieve our values, one element of which is building confidence in our students to help them better prepare for life after education. But what about building the confidence to question one’s approach and strategy in tackling tasks or ideas? Well, Nord Anglia Education have conducted some significant research with Boston College within our global family of schools on this exact topic – Metacognition. Further work then took place with the Harvard Graduate School of Education to design Thinking Routines.
This evidence-based programme is designed to help students understand what Metacognition actually means, and how they can utilise it to further enhance their learning. This huge project has come to a definitive conclusion: that it truly is a Learning Superpower! Covering the three core areas of Self-awareness, Regulation, and Transfer, this process is gradually becoming embedded at NAIS Pudong and we are excited to develop these skills in our students to support the way their learn and improve.
