In the afternoon, we entered the elderly care home in Gucun Town, Baoshan District, and met the "Healing Team" of the "Cure Paws" public welfare organization: the healing dogs Wuma, Zhuaizhuai, and Nali, the healing cats Fubao, Haha, and Xiongdahao, and the first healing guinea pig in China - Yale. Under the guidance of Teacher Wu Qi's team, we learned interaction skills and had one-on-one exchanges with the elderly.
Starting from chatting about the joys of pet-keeping, to watching the furry friends approach them on their own initiative, the elderly people's eyes gradually changed from being strange and tense to gentle and relaxed. They gently stroked the dogs' backs, the cats' soft fur, and held the guinea pigs with great affection, with long-lost smiles blooming on their faces. At the end, the students presented them with sunflowers and blessing cards they had made by hand, and a group photo captured this warm encounter that transcended generations and species.
Back in the meeting room, we also had close interactions with the therapy animals - a dog placed its front paws on our shoulders, asking for a photo, and the scene was filled with continuous laughter, with joy spilling out of the screen.
