Eight students from Year 5 to Year 8 proudly represented NAIS Pudong at the NAE Regional Maths Challenge, hosted by the British School of Nanjing from Thursday 29 to Saturday 31 January.
Across three days of competition, students challenged themselves through a range of individual and team events, including cross numbers, shuttles and mental arithmetic. They also worked collaboratively with students from across China on Fermi problems, developing their mathematical reasoning, teamwork and public speaking skills.
Beyond the competition, students had the opportunity to experience the culture of Nanjing, trekking up Purple Mountain, visiting the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, enjoying hotpot, and watching traditional cultural dances.
We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements, with several outstanding individual results:
Jaden T – 3rd Place, Year 8 Boys
Joey Z – 1st Place, Year 8 Girls
Jeffrey J – 1st Place, Year 7 Boys
Our secondary team, Jaden T, Joey Z and Jeffrey J, was joined by Chieh T from Year 6, who competed against older students and played a key role in the team’s impressive 2nd place finish.
