Emma, an A2 student at SUIS Pudong, started her journey in the school’s Pioneer Class during junior high. After the senior high school entrance examination, she switched to an international curriculum. Through consistent hard work, she secured offers from several prestigious institutions including University College London, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, the University of Manchester, the University of Bristol, and the University of Sydney, and has finally decided to pursue her studies at CUHK.

In her A Level studies, Emma took four main subjects: Economics, Physics, Mathematics, and Chinese. Her passion for Economics and Management first took root in her IG2 Economics classes. Teachers combined textbook theories with trending social issues, helping her truly grasp the practical value of economics in real life — from resource allocation to the optimization of business decisions. These thought-provoking topics instantly captured her interest.
The IEPQ project further reinforced her career direction. She adopted professional analytical models to conduct research, reviewed extensive academic literature and authentic revenue data, and analyzed public consumption motivations. This hands-on research experience fully convinced her to dedicate herself to the fields of economics and management in the future. Translating theoretical knowledge into practical research skills has cultivated her rigorous academic competence and research capabilities, which are highly valued by top universities in Hong Kong.

When talking about her life at SUIS, Emma summed it up with three words: freedom, warmth, and growth.
Freedom means the school gives students space to experiment and explore, without the constant pressure that one wrong move will lead to failure.
Warmth lies in the sincere companionship between teachers and peers, a sense of security that someone is always willing to listen even when things do not go well.；
Growth refers to the continuous accumulation of knowledge and maturity of mind, from being confused and uncertain to seeing a clear path for the future.
She also shared sincere advice for younger schoolmates: Do not just bury yourselves in textbooks. Take part in more activities and explore actively. Action is the best way to dispel confusion. Even realising that a certain field is not your interest counts as valuable progress. Learn to be kind to yourselves and stop chasing perfection relentlessly. Allow yourself more room for mistakes so you can move forward lightly and chase your dreams to the fullest.
