We believe in regular reporting both as a means of keeping parents informed but also to help motivate the students. It is essential, therefore, that all grading and reporting is fit for purpose in respect of the latter. Too often, grading becomes something that is demotivating. Similarly, it can sometimes give a very false picture.
There are four different types of reporting throughout the year:
· Interim Reports: short written comments from the subject teachers, one each term.
· Full Reports: full written reports with extra comments from the Tutor and Executive Principal, one at the end of each term.
· EPGs: Engagement and Progress Grades. There are two types: (1) Two different grades based on the student’s engagement with the work inside and outside lessons; (2) One grade based on his/her progress and performance through the course and in relation to targets generated from baseline data and past assessments.
· PTCs: Parent Teacher Consultation meetings, two per year but others for individuals can also be arranged in cases of need.
Alongside these, we shall have two formal school assessment weeks per term in which students will be appropriately assessed in each subject. Their results will be compared with targets generated from baseline data we have on each pupil and reported to parents.
Our uniform is part of our culture of high standards and expectations. Simply tucking in the shirt or wearing nice black shoes makes all the difference. We want our pupils to take pride in their appearance and maintain these high standards and we can achieve this through ensuring our uniform is pristine.
Grade 1-3 may wear P.E. clothes on the days they do P.E. but Grades 4-12 will need to wear full school uniform every day and change. The uniform for lower prep is grey skirt/trousers with a white shirt and tie or white polo shirt. Upper prep may also wear the black skirt/pinafore or trousers still with a white shirt/blouse. The blazer, grey school jumper, navy cardigan or vest is for extra heat and the school hoodie/fleece is for P.E. only.
In the new term, to better serve the students of King's School and enhance communication between school and parents, we are establishing the first Parent-Teacher Association of The King's School Shenzhen. We are delighted to have received applications from some parents already. If you would like to apply to the PTA and contribute to the growth of our school, please get in touch by sending an email to kuiling.likings-school.com.cn. The first meeting of the PTA will take place on the 25th of September.
