HUAMEI FOREIGN
LANGUAGE SCHOOL CLASSROOM
CULTURE SHOWCASE (PART 6)
President Deng Dengjiang proposed a comprehensive quality view, where the "four greater concerns" set the qualitative standards, and the "three achieving over 80%" set the quantitative standards. The classroom is the main channel for education and teaching. This semester, various aspects of the school's classroom culture will be showcased. The purpose of this activity is to address the doubts, difficulties, pains, and blind spots in daily teaching. "Home-cooked dishes are the most nourishing," and "regular classes are the most educational." With a focus on "common classes," avoiding ostentation, and judging primarily based on practicality, pragmatism, implementation, and effectiveness, this initiative aims to promote collective lesson preparation, refinement, reflection, and other teaching research activities within subject groups. The goal is to realize the formation of Huamei's classroom culture.
Throwing lightweight objects a distance is a common sports activity and also a common teaching activity. In this physical education class, Teacher Wang Hao focused on teaching the third-grade students the skill of "Throwing Lightweight Objects." Through this lesson, the goal is to develop students' upper limb strength and body coordination. This skill requires certain demands on the field space and equipment, and it is challenging. Therefore, based on the key point of "quick arm swing" in the unit teaching, an overall design for the unit was carried out. Through safe and effective activity design and assessment, clear teaching requirements are set to cultivate students' ability to engage in independent physical activities and develop positive fitness habits.

In the preparation div, the game "Grab His Little Tail" was used to liven up the classroom atmosphere, engage students' interest, and provide a lively warm-up through cheerful musical rhythms. Towel exercises replaced the traditional and monotonous calisthenics. Students used towels to stretch various muscles and joints in preparation for learning, following the dynamic rhythm of the music.
In the fundamental div, the design revolves around three exercises: "Listening to Strength," "Observing Strength," and "Feeling Strength." These exercises are closely focused on the teaching emphasis of "quick arm swing." They allow children to fully experience the softness and resilience of the towel, exploring various exercise methods with different shapes of towels. The aim is to develop students' upper limb strength, agility, and coordination. Additionally, through relay races, teamwork spirit is cultivated, achieving the goal of exercising the body in a joyful manner.
In this class, different exercises accompanied by music of varying rhythms, sometimes vigorous, sometimes soothing, filled with a sense of the times, are suitable for the children's age group. Under the blue sky and on the green lawn, teachers and children play, move, communicate, exchange, experience, and perceive with unrestrained joy.
Through the use of a common towel, the class achieves innovation, versatility, and ingenious application. It interprets the principles of exercise and the interest of life. Activities such as "Grabbing the Little Tail," "Towel Calisthenics," "Listening to Strength," "Observing Strength," "Feeling Strength," and "Physical Fitness Exercises" allow children to fully experience the softness and resilience of the towel. Different shapes of towels bring various ways of movement, and the convenience and joy of group cooperative learning. Particularly in the segments of "Listening to Strength," "Observing Strength," and "Feeling Strength," it further permeates sports science and cognitive science, breaking through the difficulties of practicing and perceiving movements, making this physical education class full of "thinking" tension and achieving significant results.
From introduction, demonstration, practice, competition, to conclusion, the class unfolds naturally, smoothly, and logically. For younger students, play and games are the "context," where curiosity and the desire to win have "meaning." Teacher Wang Hao precisely understands children's learning psychology, carefully designs teaching segments, and seamlessly connects each part of the class. The entire lesson is interconnected, full of excitement, and captivates the audience.
Principal Deng's summary of the lesson:
This class centers around the students, with the students as the main focus. It is lively, dynamic, "strict but not stifling, active but not chaotic," perfectly integrating physical education, music, and daily life. This is project-based learning, where a class, a segment, a process, etc., can all be considered a "project." I believe the children will apply towels in their learning and daily life, discovering more ingenious uses and enjoyment.
