As we conclude this academic term, with the New Year approaching, it almost feels like a tradition for us to pause, to celebrate the achievements across all areas of our endeavors and extend best wishes for the upcoming year.
The year 2023 has witnessed numerous personal and collective accomplishments among you: so many of you have reached new heights in academic performance, excelled in sports and arts, and made remarkable progress in your leadership journey and contributed to charity within and outside of the school. Each achievement, whether big or small, is a testament to your dedication to your passions and aspirations, as well as a reflection of Harrow's core values of courage, honor, humility, and fellowship. From January to December, we've woven a tapestry of shared experiences. We've celebrated victories, navigated challenges, and embraced the spirit of collaboration." Congratulations, and we should be immensely proud.
Among all the kaleidoscopic gains you have garnered together, I am most impressed with what you give back, namely your contributions to your class, house, to the school community and to the wider society and even the world, which resonates with our motto of "Educational excellence for life and leadership". Remember Churchill's words, "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."
Undoubtedly, all these achievements won't be possible without the unwavering support from the champions, cheerleaders, heroes and friends of Harrow among us. They are the beloved parents, dedicated teachers, classroom practitioners and non-academic staff, and our fellow Harrovians. Thank you all indeed.
My dear Harrow community, "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
