In the current wave of educational reform, Project-Based Learning (PBL) as an innovative teaching method is gradually gaining attention and recognition from society. To better promote the implementation of Hua Mei PBL project-based learning and enhance teachers' professional competencies, our school organized the "Decoding Project-Based Learning, Practicing Core Subject Competencies" teacher training activity.
The objective of this training is to help teachers gain a deep understanding of the core principles and operational methods of project-based learning, master how to design challenging and open-ended project tasks, and guide students in enhancing subject competencies and comprehensive abilities through solving real-world problems. The training was conducted by an expert in the field of project-based learning, Director Zhou Xiang, who shared his practical experience and successful cases, providing valuable insights and inspirations for teachers.

Project-Based Learning is a student-centered teaching method that focuses on allowing students to gain interdisciplinary knowledge, skills, and experiences through participating in real projects. In PBL, students typically engage in in-depth research and exploration on a specific theme or problem, ultimately producing a tangible result or solution with practical value. This learning approach emphasizes not only knowledge acquisition but also the cultivation of critical thinking, innovation, collaboration, and communication skills in students during the process of solving real-world problems.
To practice core subject competencies in Project-Based Learning, teachers need to design challenging and open-ended project tasks, guide students in deep exploration and problem-solving, provide timely feedback and guidance on students' performance and progress during the project, and help them enhance subject competencies and comprehensive abilities. Additionally, teachers should create a conducive learning environment that encourages active participation, communication, and collaboration among students to complete project tasks together.
Finally, Director Zhou combined the actual situation of the school with the "Hua Mei Foreign Language School Homework Exhibition Evaluation" as a case study, guiding everyone to reflect on what constitutes excellent homework and how teachers and students can integrate project-based learning through collaborative exploration, planning, outcome presentation, and diverse evaluation methods to achieve a comprehensive presentation of student subject competencies.

Many participants expressed that through the training, they have gained a clearer understanding of the importance of Project-Based Learning and acquired more practical teaching methods and techniques. We believe that through this training, teachers will be able to better utilize the methods of project-based learning to guide students in active exploration, collaborative learning, and cultivate their innovative spirit and practical abilities. At the same time, teachers will continue to enhance their own professional competencies and educational teaching abilities, contributing to the holistic development of students.
Let us work together to promote the widespread application of Project-Based Learning in education and teaching, and strive to cultivate innovative and practical talents for the new era!
