On July 4th, BMH had the honor of welcoming Lord Smith of Finsbury, the Master of Pembroke College, Cambridge, and Matthew Mellor, the Development Director. The visit from the leadership team of the University of Cambridge, one of the world's top academic institutions, brought great pride and joy to BMH.
Pembroke College, Cambridge
Founded in 1347, Pembroke College, Cambridge, is one of the oldest and most esteemed colleges at the University of Cambridge. Known for its outstanding academic traditions and rich cultural history, Pembroke consistently ranks highly in Cambridge's undergraduate performance tables. It has produced numerous distinguished alumni, including Nobel laureates, renowned politicians, scientists, and artists.
Lord Smith, the visiting Master, is a prominent British politician and scholar. He has served as the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport in the UK and has made significant contributions to public service and social welfare. As the Master of Pembroke College, Lord Smith is dedicated to advancing the college's academic excellence and societal impact, encouraging students to maintain an open mind and innovative spirit in their pursuit of knowledge.
Accompanied by Dr. Catherine Chu, director of the Board, and other school leaders, Lord Smith and Mr Mellor toured our beautiful campus. They praised the campus facilities, learning environment, and vibrant academic atmosphere.
During the visit, the distinguished guests were particularly impressed by the ongoing art exhibition, "Martlet Journey to the west". This exhibition, inspired by the Martlet symbol on our school crest, represents the connection between BMH and Bromsgrove Schools in China and the UK. The martlet, which also appears on Pembroke College's crest, symbolizes the connection and affinity between Pembroke College and Bromsgrove, highlighting our special relationship.
The exhibit showcased students' creativity and talent through various artworks, including paintings, tie-dye, and crafts. Both Lord Smith and Mr. Mellor highly commended the students' pieces.
Dr. Catherine Chu provided an in-depth introduction to BMH's educational philosophy, distinctive features, and collaboration with Bromsgrove School. She highlighted BMH's commitment to fostering well-rounded students by integrating academic and artistic education, offering diverse development opportunities.
We believe that such international exchanges and collaborations will enable BMH to continue its journey of educational innovation, creating broader growth opportunities for our students.
