Dear families,

We understand that the recent incident within our community of Shekou has caused concern, and we want to take a moment to reassure you that at our school, the safety and well-being of our students are always our top priority. While any act of violence deeply saddens us, we remain committed to providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all.

Our security team has been briefed and is taking extra precautions to ensure the continued safety of everyone on campus. We are actively working with local authorities and are in close cooperation with them to maintain the highest safety standards. We are grateful for the strong support from local agencies, which reinforces our shared commitment to protecting our students and staff.

AI in Education

SIS hosted a ParentEDU that was open to the broader community. We delved into the rapidly evolving world of AI and its significant impact on education. As a community, we discussed how AI has advanced over the years and is already an integral component of our daily lives.

Additionally, we explored AI's challenges and opportunities, particularly in shaping how students learn and how educators teach. The session encouraged thoughtful discussions about the ethical implications of AI, its potential to personalise learning, and the importance of equipping us all with the skills to navigate this technological landscape responsibly.

We highlighted tools like https://www.perplexity.ai/ that transform research and writing and platforms that support adaptive learning, offering personalised feedback and resources tailored to individual needs.

Participants left with an increased awareness of utilising AI responsibly.

人工智能在教育领域的应用

SIS举办了一场面向广大社群的家长教育讲座。在此次讲座中，我们深入探讨了人工智能这一迅猛发展的领域及其对教育领域产生的深远影响。作为社群的一员，我们共同回顾了人工智能这些年来的发展历程，并认识到它已悄然融入我们的日常生活，成为不可或缺的一部分。

此外，我们还探讨了人工智能在重塑学生学习模式与教师教学策略上所遭遇的挑战与蕴含的机遇。本次讲座激发了了大家对于人工智能伦理影响的深刻反思，剖析其推动个性化学习的巨大潜力，并强调了在这一科技环境下，掌握负责任行为所需技能的重要性。

Parent Advisory Council

The Parent Advisory Council consists of divisionally nominated parents from across the school who meet with the Head of School to discuss matters related to the community and overall school initiatives for improvement. This year, instead of nominations, I am keen to open up this vital role for expressions of interest.

Please contact Sonja (szhengsis.org.cn) with a short explanation of how you can contribute to this important role. Preference will be given to representatives who haven't served on the council already and can commit to meeting three times over the academic year. Ideally, we are looking for two parents from each division, primary and secondary.

家长咨询委员会汇聚了来自全校各校区经推选产生的家长代表，他们定期与总校长会面，共同探讨社群福祉及学校全面改进的相关议题。今年，我决定调整参与方式，不再仅仅依赖提名，而是向所有家长开放这一重要角色，诚挚邀请各位家长表达您的参与意愿。

请有意加入的家长联系Sonja（邮箱：szhengsis.org.cn），并附上简短说明，阐述您如何能为这一重要角色贡献力量。我们将优先考虑那些尚未在委员会中担任过职务，且能够承诺在学年内参加三次会议的家长代表。最理想的情况是，我们期望能从小学部和中学部中各选出两位家长代表。
