This year’s workshops covered critical areas for enhancing teaching and learning:

In this workshop, teachers focused on enhancing writing and reading instruction through data-driven techniques. Participants delved into the science of literacy, analyzed student work, and applied data cycles to inform teaching decisions. By the end, teachers left with practical tools to boost literacy outcomes and deepen student engagement in both writing and reading.

Teachers explored strategies to support multilingual learners (MLLs), learning how to integrate language into lessons, employ a variety of teaching techniques, and foster a supportive environment where every student, regardless of language background, can succeed. This session provided insights into creating an inclusive classroom that values and nurtures language diversity.

This session equipped educators with strategies to support multilingual learners in middle and high school across various content areas. Teachers explored reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and student discussions in target languages, and learned effective writing strategies to create language-rich classrooms. 

Collaboration time was built in for educators to plan with their departments, enhancing the consistency and quality of language support across disciplines.

Educators learned advanced differentiation techniques to address the diverse needs of each student in a high school classroom. Through intentional planning, assessment, and a strong emphasis on a supportive learning environment, teachers gained insights into how to tailor instruction to maximize each student’s potential. 

The workshop emphasized diagnostic assessments, ongoing goal-setting, and creating a student-centered learning experience where individual growth is the focus.

For our youngest learners, teachers learned to naturally integrate language and storytelling into play, using strategies such as story baskets, book creation, and play-based literacy activities. This hands-on session provided techniques for promoting oral language skills, capturing literacy milestones through play, and creating a rich language environment that fosters a lifelong love for learning.
