美美与共:当IB遇上中华优秀传统文化
千百年来的学堂里总是这样一幅场景:先生摇头晃脑地讲学,学生们正襟危坐认真聆听。那么,传统的师生关系和我们现在的有多大差别呢?
我们带领孩子们在课室里还原了古代学堂的场景。孩子们满是新奇地接受开笔礼「朱砂开智」,向先生行礼,被寄予「好好读书,学业有成」的厚望。他们运用思考技能中的子技能——批判性思考,对古今师生关系的经验进行对比、分析进而形成新的想法,发掘尊师重道的内涵所在:原来,在葆有尊师的礼仪之外,学生和老师的关系是平等而非不可逾越的,师生可以一起讨论问题,学生更是可以主动发问以及表达自己的观点。
In today's world, education not only teaches knowledge, but also focuses on the overall development of human beings. Chinese traditional culture, as the cultural gene of the Chinese bloodline, not only carries a long history, but also initiates an innovative future. At a time when the promotion of Chinese traditional culture has come to the forefront, King's has utilized the five skills and their sub-skills advocated by the IB Early Childhood and Primary King's (ECP) to open up a new perspective of integrating local culture into IB education practice. King's is committed to cultivating open-minded and caring cross-cultural communicators, and we believe that, once children have mastered these skills, they will be able to explore Chinese traditional culture and and strengthen their cultural identity. Additionaly, they can use them as a tool for exploring the cultures of other countries as well.

《黄帝内经·太素》中写道:「空腹而食,病则为药。」中医也是我国传统文化瑰宝之一,自古以来就提倡药食同源。金生的小小药膳家们发挥研究技能,在探究「我们是谁」的超学科主题时,通过去闻、摸、嗅去分辨各种药材、食材,既体会到身体器官的功能,又对中医文化有了初步的感知。我们从网络中查找到的信息「五色养生法」,是否有相应的依据呢?孩子们尝试搭配各种原材料,炮制出独特美味的养生药膳茶。
The Huang Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine reads, “Eating on an empty stomach makes the disease a medicine.” Chinese medicine is also one of the treasures of our traditional culture, and since ancient times, it has been advocated that food and medicine come from the same source. In exploring the multidisciplinary theme of “Who are we?”, King's young herbalists put their research skills to use by smelling, touching, and tasting various herbs and ingredients, not only experiencing the functions of the body's organs, but also gaining a preliminary understanding of the culture of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Do we have a basis for the information we found on the Internet about the “five-color method of health maintenance”? The children tried to combine various raw materials to make a unique and delicious herbal tea.

每逢立秋节气,岭南的村落总是晾晒着数不清的农作物。金生的孩子们也共赴秋实之约,一起体验“晒秋”。可是,立秋意味着什么?孩子们仔细思考,尽情交流自己的想法;认真倾听他人的观点与老师的介绍,从不同角度解读节气的含义。在教师创设的教育环境下,他们把晒干的石榴皮煮沸,利用民间传统工艺为手帕扎染上一抹丰收的颜色。
During the Autumn Festival, countless crops are dried in the villages of Lingnan. The children of King's also went to view the autumn fruits and experience “sunning in the autumn” together. But what does the beginning of autumn mean? The children thought carefully and exchanged their ideas; they listened attentively to the views of others and the teacher's introduction, and interpreted the meaning of the festival from different perspectives. In the educational environment created by the teacher, they boiled sun-dried pomegranate skins and used traditional folk crafts to tie-dye handkerchiefs in the colors of the harvest.

夫孝,徳之本也,教之所由生也。恰逢九九重阳,伴随着悠扬的古琴乐声,金生的孩子们为到访的爷爷奶奶奉上了清香扑鼻菊花茶,还亲自教他们制作非遗团扇,陪伴他们度过这一特别的节日。孩子们在与老人家交流的过程中学习如何与隔代相处,学习尊重和关心祖辈,在为他们提供力所能及的服务的同时表达一份充满童稚的孝心。看呀,一大一小在户外共同游玩滚铁环的传统游戏,互相积极协作,可谓其乐融融。
Filial piety is the foundation of virtue and the source of education. Accompanied by the melodious sound of guqin music, King's children served fragrant chrysanthemum tea to the visiting grandparents and taught them how to make non-heritage fans, accompanying them on this special holiday. In the process of communicating with the elderly, the children learned how to get along with other generations, learned to respect and care for their grandparents, and expressed their filial piety while providing them with what they could. Look at the old and the young playing the traditional game of “Roller Derby” together outdoors, actively collaborating with each other, which can be said to be a joyful and happy experience.

艺术是传承中华优秀传统文化的重要桥梁。视觉艺术课上,孩子们细心观察并自主设计非遗云肩的纹样,运用中式对称美学将点和线组合,感受传统服饰之美。在富有挑战性的艺术创作中,孩子们运用自我管理技能,为自己设定目标,发挥专注力与毅力,仔细把云肩的花纹对称地勾画出来。他们还尝试用传统色系描绘古代的亭子,画中动静呼应,巧用留白,意境悠远。
Art is an important bridge to pass on the outstanding traditional Chinese culture. In the visual arts class, children carefully observed and independently designed the patterns of the non-heritage clouds, utilizing Chinese symmetry aesthetics to combine dots and lines, and experiencing the beauty of traditional costumes. In the challenging artwork, the children used self-management skills to set goals for themselves, exercising focus and perseverance to carefully sketch the cloud pattern in a symmetrical manner. They also attempted to depict ancient pavilions with traditional colors, echoing movement and static, and using white space to create a far-reaching mood.
