How to Get Away with a Murder Mystery is a hilarious and suspenseful play that combines comedy with detective work. With witty dialogue, silly misunderstandings, and a cast of eccentric characters, the play pokes fun at classic murder mysteries while keeping audiences laughing and guessing.

This production featured approximately 30 actors from grades 6 through 10, and four 11th graders helping backstage, managing the lighting, sound, and costumes, ensuring everything ran smoothly.

SIS MYP Theatre teacher Vanessa Tolino directed the play. She shared that after three months of intensive rehearsals from August to November, the students delivered a remarkable performance. "We did a lot of exploring and improvisation, and the students came up with many of the ideas themselves. It was incredible to see their creativity take shape, then watch them refine and develop it further. Bringing it to the audience, seeing the audience's response, and watching their energy soar made the performances even more extraordinary," she said.

Eleanor D, an actor in the play, reflected on how the performance demonstrated her IB qualities. "You definitely have to be a risk-taker to stand on stage in front of a large audience, and strong collaboration skills are equally important," she shared.

Loghan H a lead actor, shared her aspirations, "I’d love to attend a great college and pursue a degree in theatre because I enjoy connecting with audiences emotionally. This experience has been amazing, and I hope to work on more projects in the future. Having a full house last night was incredible, and I’m excited for what’s to come."
