On December 21, the 2024 China Golf Regional Championship - Greater Bay Area Cup officially kicked off at Guanlan Lake Golf Club.
This competition brought together hundreds of golf players from 21 schools across the country, and the competition was exceptionally fierce. Every move the competitors made showed what they’ve got. After intense and thrilling competition, the MIS players jointly trained by the School and Golf Planet shone brightly with their outstanding abilities, dominating the award list, which shows a perfect combination of teamwork and individual abilities.

As the most dazzling team in this tournament, the MIS players did not win the championship by luck. Behind this success were the full support of the school's policies, the meticulous guidance of the coaching staff from Golf Planet, and the extra help and guidance from the master coach who ranked among the top 20 in the United States. From pre-game strategy and tactics instructions to on-site cheers, every player fully felt the importance and support given by the school and the coaching staff to this match.
Master coach Andrew Dawes from Golf Planet has been recognized by Golf Digest, the world's leading golf magazine, as one of the "Top 20 Teachers Under 40 in America" for eleven consecutive years. Moreover, he has been honored as the "Best Golf Coach" in every state where he has worked in the United States. Coach Andrew has also guided over 30 students, including Aline Krauter, all of whom gained scholarships and were admitted into prestigious universities such as Stanford University, Louisiana State University, and Texas A&M University based on their golfing prowess.
As early as 2023, MIS Shenzhen officially launched the Golf Million Scholarship Programme, which aims to encourage more excellent young golfers to have outstanding golf skills and to receive the authentic British holistic education of MIS, which in turn will achieve academic and professional improvement. This programme is not only a useful attempt to train students to enter the top international universities through their golf specialities, but also a best proof of MIS's practice of the concept of ‘holistic education’.

In 2025, the MIS Golf Academy will continue to upgrade and join hands with the most leading golf training academy in China - Golf Planet Performance Centre - to create a full time Golf Academy in the Greater Bay Area. The Academy's golf programme will be led and taught by the American Top 20 coachAndrew Dawes. Andrew adopts the talent development model of coaching that the Ivy League universities most prefer to help our golfers to achieve academic excellence and professional improvement, and successfully enter the top international universities through their golf specialities.
In terms of Golf Traning arrangement, the Golf Academy will provide students with customised education services.
In G1-G5 elementary level, students will have no less than 6 hours of golf training per week.
At the G6-G11 elite level, students will have a minimum of 3 hours of professional golf training per day.
As for the academic curriculum, the Academy will tailor-make a personalised learning programme according to the student's own situation. By focusing on both academics and professionalism, we will make sure that our golfers will achieve excellence in academy and golf profession.

As the first overseas branch of Merchiston Castle School (Edinburgh), MIS Shenzhen shares a common culture with MCS Edinburgh, as well as the responsibility and mission to pass on and promote sportsmanship.’ At the Golf Academy's Parent Salon event, Mr. Lyv Jianjun, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lighthouse Education Group and Founder of MIS Shenzhen, expressed his hope that more MIS students can enter the top international universities through MIS’s internationalised curriculum development and professional expertise in golf.
