G8 Design  

G8 设计课


G8 Design students are creating their own skateboard decks, combining creativity and hands-on skills. Students are measuring, cutting, and assembling their materials while working together on their deck designs. This project teaches them how to plan, use tools safely and effectively build a functional skateboard deck. It also encourages collaboration, problem-solving, and thinking about how design can reflect personal ideas and trends. 

G8设计课的同学们正在亲手制作自己的滑板板面。他们将创意与动手能力相结合,一起测量、切割并组装材料,共同设计滑板板面。这个项目教会了他们如何规划并安全有效地使用工具,制作出实用又美观的滑板板面。同时,这也鼓励了大家团队合作、共同解决问题以及思考如何通过设计来表达个人想法并紧跟潮流。 



G10 Journey - Exploring AI  

G10 学习之旅 - 探索人工智能


In our G10 Chinese Unit 2, students explored artificial intelligence and its impact on humanity. Using The Wandering Earth 2 as a starting point, they reflected on the role of “digital life” in shaping our future. 


The film’s portrayal of AI in global crises inspired discussions on key questions: How does AI influence decision-making? Can technology replicate human values? 


Students connected these ideas to real-world applications like autonomous systems, ethical AI use, and digital dependency. They explored the balance between technological advancements and human-centered values. 


This inquiry is helping students think critically about AI’s potential and its role in solving global challenges, preparing them for an increasingly digital world. We’re proud of their thoughtful engagement! 

在G10中文第二单元的学习中,学生们深入探讨了人工智能及其对人类社会的影响。通过《流浪地球2》观影,他们思考了“数字生命”在塑造我们未来中的作用。 


电影中人工智能应对全球危机的情节激发了学生们的讨论:人工智能如何影响决策?科技是否能真正复制人类的价值观?


学生们将这些思考与现实世界相结合,探讨了自动化系统、人工智能伦理及数字依赖等主题。他们尝试在技术进步与人类价值之间寻找平衡。 


这种探索学习帮助学生批判性地思考人工智能的潜力及其在解决全球挑战中的作用,为迎接日益数字化的世界做好准备。我们为他们的深入思考感到自豪!

Academic Awards

学业奖颁奖典礼


Prior to breaking up for the winter break, we celebrated students who had achieved significant academic milestones. We were pleased to have so many students being awarded Honours and High Honours. With full MYP implementation this year, the criteria for Honours and High Honours has changed. Honours requires students to get a total of 48/56, with High Honours being 52/56. In either case, students cannot have received any mark below a 5. This benchmark is very high, and we congratulate those who were able to receive this merit. 

我们在寒假前表彰了在学业上取得卓越成就的同学。我们很高兴能有众多同学荣获荣誉奖和最高荣誉奖。随着今年中学MYP项目的全面实施,荣誉奖和最高荣誉奖的评选标准也有变化。获得荣誉奖要求学生总分达到48/56,最高荣誉奖要求达到52/56。学生在这两种情况下任何一科成绩都不能低于5。该标准要求非常高,我们向那些能够获得这些荣誉的同学表示祝贺。

We were delighted to welcome 2024 alum Ethan Yu-Cheng Hsieh to speak to current students on our first day back from winter break. Ethan is a first-year student at Oxford College of Emory University in Georgia, USA. Entrance into Oxford College is selective and provides stellar teaching and student leadership opportunities to first- and second-year students, an unusually intense program emphasizing discovery, exploration and reflection within the liberal arts curriculum. 


Ethan has found his introduction to university life at Emory everything and more than he expected, and through his sharing wanted to reaffirm his “confidence in SIS and IB through interactive conversations like some previous alumni have done with regard to their application and college life experience,” saying, “SIS has taught me well, and I just wish to reciprocate as much as I can!” 


A reflection from a student attending the alum event, Chirag J shared, “I found my conversation with Ethan very valuable as he shared his university experience with us. He shared what life was like as a freshman in university, and how the course options at university allowed him to explore different passions and hobbies. Moreover, we discussed what job opportunities look like at different universities. This talk gave me great insight into what it’s like attending an American University. Factors such as the size of the university and student to teacher ratios weren’t things I previously considered, but I came to understand how big of a role they play in our education prowess.” 


We thank Ethan for his warm and enthusiastic sharing, taking the time during his brief visit back to Shekou to contribute to our alum events for the benefit of current students. We wish Ethan a fantastic upcoming semester at Emory! 

我们很高兴在寒假后第一天迎来2024届校友Ethan Yu-Cheng Hsieh返校为在校同学演讲。Ethan目前就读于美国佐治亚州埃默里大学牛津学院第一年。入学要求严格的牛津学院,为大学一二年级的学生提供一流的教学和学生领导力培养的机会,学院课程非常紧凑,侧重于在人文科学课程中激励学生探索发现并反思。


Ethan发现自己的埃默里大学生活在各方面远超期待,他希望能通过自己的分享,能像之前的校友那样”通过大学申请和大学生活经历的互动交流,再次坚定大家对SIS以及IB体系的信心”。他说:”SIS给了我非常棒的教育,我只希望尽我所能地回馈!”


参加校友活动的同学Chirag J分享:“我觉得与Ethan的交流非常有价值,他向我们分享了他的大学生活经历,讲述了大一新生的大学生活是怎样的,以及大学的课程选择如何让他探索不同的兴趣和爱好。此外,我们还讨论了不同大学的就业机会情况。这次交谈让我对美国大学的生活有了深入的了解。比如校园规模和师生比等因素,我以前并没有考虑过,但我开始明白这些在我们的教育过程中起着多么重要的作用。” 


我们感谢Ethan热情洋溢的分享,感谢他在短暂返回蛇口期间抽出时间参加我们的校友活动,助力在校生。我们祝Ethan在埃默里大学即将到来的新学期一切顺利!  



Teacher’s Learning 

教师培训


As you know, Monday was a staff learning day. One highlight from the staff learning was our Emergency First Responder course. At SIS, all staff members are trained as Emergency Responders in an effort to increase safety on campus. We hope to never have to use these important life-saving skills; however, we remain trained, prepared and ready to act should the need arise. This is one of the ways we work to keep everyone safe on our campuses. 

如您所知,本周一是教职员工培训日,培训的一个亮点是我们的紧急救护员课程。在SIS,所有教职工都接受了紧急救护员的培训以确保提升校园安全度。我们希望永远不会出现需要用到这些重要救生技能的情况;然而我们始终保持训练状态,随时做好准备,并在需要时立即采取行动。这是我们确保校园内每个人都能安全所采取的措施之一。
