Middle Leaders' Professional Development Day
At Merchiston International School, we are proud to celebrate the dedication and commitment of our middle leaders who play a pivotal role in shaping the academic and pastoral success of our students.
On Tuesday, our KS4 and KS5 leadership team gathered for an inspiring day of professional development at the ney opened 5-star M Gallery hotel, next door to MIS in Dalang, Longhua.
This special event was hosted by our Head of Upper Seniors and Wellbeing, Mr. Ben Webster, who led the sessions with expertise and enthusiasm. The day was generously hosted by M Gallery, whose team welcomed us warmly, cementing a promising partnership between our school and this stunning new venue.
The programme was thoughtfully designed to equip our middle leaders with tools and strategies to enhance their impact within the school. The day began with a deep dive into data analysis, enabling leaders to better understand and utilise academic performance metrics to drive improvement. This was followed by engaging sessions on coaching and mentoring, where leaders explored effective ways to support and inspire their colleagues.
Teams also collaborated on departmental action plans, setting clear goals to ensure alignment with the school’s vision and priorities. A highlight of the day was the session on supporting learners with diverse abilities, where leaders shared strategies for providing differentiated support to ensure every student reaches their potential.
The day wasn't all work—participants also enjoyed the M Gallery’s excellent hospitality, with delicious refreshments and an inspiring setting that encouraged collaboration and reflection.
This professional development day not only strengthened the skills and knowledge of our middle leaders but also reinforced our commitment to fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. We are immensely proud of the work our leaders do every day to support our students, colleagues, and wider school community.
