Good morning, students, teachers, and staff:

It is a pleasure to welcome you all back after the break as we begin the second term of this academic year. I hope you had a restful and refreshing holiday, and now you're ready to take on the challenges and opportunities ahead. Today, I want to talk to you about something essential for success in life and school: positive thinking.

Positive thinking is not just about smiling or pretending everything is perfect. It's about focusing on solutions rather than problems, seeing opportunities instead of obstacles, and believing in your ability to overcome challenges. It’s about training your mind to see the good in situations, even when things don’t go as planned. As we start this term, I encourage each of you to embrace a mindset of positivity. Why? Because your attitude determines your altitude. The way you think directly impacts how you approach your studies, relationships, and personal goals.

Here are three ways to practice positive thinking this term:

1. Set Clear Goals with Optimism - Think about what you want to achieve this term. Whether it’s improving your grades, excelling in sports, or building better friendships, set clear goals. But don’t stop there—believe that you can achieve them. Visualize your success. Instead of saying, “I can’t do this,” tell yourself, “I will give my best, and I can succeed.”

2. Turn Challenges into Opportunities - Every term will come with its share of challenges—difficult subjects, tight deadlines, or personal struggles. Instead of feeling defeated, see each challenge as an opportunity to grow. Remember, diamonds are formed under pressure. You, too, can shine brighter when you embrace challenges with a positive mindset.

3. Surround Yourself with Positivity - Attitudes are contagious, so choose friends and classmates who uplift and inspire you. Be that person who spreads positivity. Compliment others, encourage your peers, and avoid negativity like gossip or complaints. By creating a supportive environment, you’ll contribute to a happier and more productive school community.

Why Does Positive Thinking Matter? Research shows that positive thinkers are more resilient, healthier, and more likely to succeed. But beyond statistics, positivity makes life more enjoyable. When we approach our work, relationships, and activities with apositive outlook, we bring out the best in ourselves and others. This term, I challenge each of you to adopt the mantra: “I can, and I will.” Write it down. Say it to yourself when things get tough. Believe in your ability to overcome challenges, and you’ll be amazed at what you can achieve. 

To our teachers and staff, your positive energy plays a significant role in shaping our students’ attitudes. Let us continue to inspire and motivate them, even when the road gets tough. Together, we can create an environment where every student feels encouraged to thrive. As we embark on this second term, let’s commit to making it a time of growth, learning, and positivity. Let’s support one another, aim high, and believe in the power of a positive mindset.

Today, I want to share a powerful message from the movie Ne Zha as we step into the new semester: "My destiny is determined by myself, not by heaven.”

Starting a new term is like Ne Zha embarking on a new adventure. There will be countless challenges, just like the obstacles he had to overcome. We may struggle with difficult courses, tight schedules, or high-pressure exams. But we should remember Ne Zha’s spirit—he refused to be defined by the negative prophecy about him and instead fought bravely to shape his own life.

We, too, have the power to shape our academic journey. When faced with a tough math problem, don’t give up easily. When memorizing a long list of English words, stay persistent. Let’s take charge of our learning, just as Ne Zha took control of his destiny.

As this new semester begins, let’s carry Ne Zha’s fearless attitude and determination. Let’s face challenges head-on, believing that through our own efforts, we can create a bright future.
