Before the event, Ben Webster, the head of senior at MIS, and Jeni, an expert in Oxbridge applications, held an in-depth dialogue.
Ben emphasized that the essence of international education is holistic development, and MIS is committed to building academic bridges that connect the world. Jeni, drawing on her 25 years of experience in international education, highlighted that top UK universities are increasingly focusing on the combination of academic depth and thinking skills in their evaluations. She noted that interview questions at universities like Oxford and Cambridge often have no standard answers, but it is the students' logical analysis, critical thinking, and passion for their subjects that truly make them stand out.
During the conversation, she used classic interview questions such as "estimating the number of oxygen molecules" and "calculating the total number of sand grains globally" to vividly illustrate the unique academic assessment of Oxbridge. She advised students to deepen their subject understanding through extensive reading, participation in academic competitions, and EPQ (Extended Project Qualification), while also cultivating interdisciplinary thinking and expressive skills.
Notably, Jeni and MIS have jointly launched the "Path to Oxbridge" training program, designed to support mis student growth through three core modules:
Academic Mentorship: Each student is paired with a subject mentor with an Oxbridge background for personalized academic guidance.
Simulated Tutorials: Establishing connections with current Oxbridge students for regular seminars to adapt to the collegiate teaching model in advance.
Competency Enhancement Camp: Weekly critical thinking training, debate workshops, and mock interviews to systematically enhance competitiveness.
In concluding the speech, Ben Webster stated, "We focus not just on the numbers on the report cards but on igniting the students' deep-seated motivation to explore their subjects. MIS will continue to integrate global resources to provide a solid foundation for every student."
Admissions data for the 2025 application season show that MIS has achieved remarkable success, securing an offer from the University of Cambridge, making it the first authentic British boarding international school in the Greater Bay Area to receive a Cambridge offer. With a 50% acceptance rate to UK G5 universities and top 3 Hong Kong universities, the brilliant admission results underscore the exceptional academic pursuit and boundless potential of MIS students.
Jeni left a message for students dreaming of international elite universities: "Maintaining excellent academic performance is the core foundation, especially striving for high scores in key stage exams. Additionally, building a diverse academic portfolio is crucial, including participation in subject competitions and gaining relevant internship experiences, which can highlight academic depth and practical abilities. Moreover, cultivating critical thinking and expressive skills should be a continuous process throughout your studies, fully showcasing your academic passion and comprehensive qualities."
