We are excited to share that our G6 students have been hard at work over the past few weeks, diving into the fascinating world of earthquake-safe structures. They have conducted extensive research, engaged in design thinking, and gathered valuable background information to create their own buildings. 

It marks a significant milestone: Earthquake Testing Day! Students will put their creations to the test, simulating real-life earthquake conditions to see how well their structures hold up. This hands-on experience not only reinforces their understanding of engineering principles but also fosters teamwork and problem-solving skills. 

我们很高兴和大家分享，过去几周，我们G6同学一直埋头苦干，全身心投入地震安全建筑这一奇妙世界的学习探索中。他们开展了广泛的研究，运用设计思维，收集宝贵的背景信息建造自己的建筑。 

这是一个重要的里程碑：地震测试日！同学们将对自己的作品进行测试，模拟真实地震状况，看看自己的建筑结构有多牢固。这种动手实践的学习经历不仅能加强他们对工程原理的理解，还能培养了团队协作能力和问题解决能力。 

G7 Design students are working on orthographic projection and isometric projection drawing. Orthographic projection drawing is used to show a three-dimensional object “flat” from 3 or more views - front, side, and top with more views as needed to show all the details with the dimensions of each, it highlights the technical specifications of a product. Isometric projection drawing is a method for visually representing three-dimensional objects in a two-dimensional space and used often in technical and engineering drawings and product mock-ups in design. Students are building and practicing their technical drawing skills and will later use these skills to draw their autonomous vehicles. So much Fun!  

Visual Art students are now doing their visual arts projects in the lab, both classes are full of fun, and everyone transformed into creative designers, with the guidance of the teacher, actively engaged in their design and fantastic research journeys and explorations, which cultivated their abilities of independent thinking, teamwork ability and problem-solving. 

G7设计课的同学正在学习绘制正交投影图和轴测投影图。正投影图绘制应用于工程和生产领域，通常从三个或如正侧和顶面等更多视角，以“平面”形式展示一个三维物体，标注出每个部分的尺寸，突出了产品的技术规格。轴测投影绘图是一种在二维空间中直观呈现三维物体的方法，用于技术和工程图纸绘制和设计领域的产品模型制作。同学们正在锻炼自己的工程制图技能，日后将运用这些技能来自行绘制自动驾驶汽车。太有意思啦！ 

视觉艺术课的同学正在设计室开展他们的视觉艺术项目。两节课堂上都乐趣满满，大家纷纷化身创意设计师，在老师的引导下，积极投身于趣味横生的实践操作中。同学们在实践中主动探索，培养了独立思考、团队协作以及解决问题的能力，让学习成为了一段充满乐趣与惊喜的奇妙旅程。 

G7 Math students took on the challenge of researching and building their own versions of famous skyscrapers. This project pushed their skills in geometry, measurement, and spatial reasoning. After completing their models, they calculated the exposed surface areas and volumes, applying their knowledge in a practical way. 

G7数学课的同学们正在开展一项研究，并动手挑战搭建各自心目中著名摩天大楼的模型。这个项目锻炼了他们的几何图形、测量以及空间推理能力。模型搭建完成后，他们还计算了建筑模型的表面积和体积，将所学知识应用于实践。 

G8 is currently working on developing performances for three songs; the imperial March from Star Wars, Viva, la Vida, and the theme from the Phantom of the Opera. We are exploring techniques for arranging and performing music as an ensemble! Go Gecko Artists!

G8音乐课的同学们正在为三首歌曲《星球大战》中的《帝国进行曲》、《Viva la Vida》和《歌剧魅影》的主题曲表演排练。他们正在探索以合奏形式编排和演奏音乐的技巧！壁虎音乐家们加油！

In our recent learning, G9 Chinese Acquisition Phase 3-4 students explored the world of Chinese internet hot words as part of our unit on subculture. From “内卷 (involution)” to “YYDS (Forever Gods),” students uncovered the origins, meanings, and social context behind these viral terms. 

They discussed why these words became popular and how they reflect trends, values, and humor in Chinese youth culture. More importantly, students learned how to use them appropriately and respectfully in conversations.

After their exploration, students created their own original “hot words” - complete with meanings, images, and cultural connections. Their creativity and insight truly brought the unit to life! 

This unit helped students expand their vocabulary, deepen cultural awareness, and engage with the evolving nature of language in today’s digital world. 

在近期学习中，我校G9中文语言习得课第三至四阶段的同学以亚文化为主题单元，深入探索了中国网络热词的世界。从"内卷"到"YYDS"，同学们不仅追溯了这些网络流行语的起源与内涵，更深入剖析了它们背后的社会语境。 

通过课堂讨论，学生们解析了这些词汇的流行密码，它们如何精准捕捉中国青年文化中的时代脉搏、价值取向与幽默表达。更重要的是，在语言实践中，同学们掌握了如何在交流中得体、尊重地运用这些新兴词汇。 

探索活动完成后，同学们发挥奇思妙想，自主设计原创"网络热词"，精心构建词汇释义，搭配创意视觉呈现，并阐释其文化关联。这些充满青春智慧的创作成果，为整个单元注入了鲜活的生命力。 

本教学单元有效实现了多重教学目标：在拓展词汇储备的同时深化文化认知，更引导年轻学子以参与者的姿态，感受数字时代语言的动态演变。这种立足当下、连接现实的语言学习方式，充分展现了中文教育与时俱进的活力。 

G11 Business Management students continued to explore new tools from the Business Management Toolkit this week, learning about Decision Trees. This allowed students to take their previous studies in mathematics, specifically probability, and apply this to the evaluation of different business options. When combined with recent studies in Investment Appraisal, students have learned various quantitative techniques to rigorously assess strategic options. 

本周，G11经济管理课的同学继续学习工商管理工具箱中的新工具，了解了决策树分析法。这使得他们能够将此前所学的数学知识，尤其是概率知识应用于评估不同的商业选项。结合近期所学的投资评估相关知识，学生们已掌握了多种定量分析技术，用以严谨地评估战略选择。 

On 24-28 March, students in G6-10 participated in our annual Interdisciplinary Unit (IDU) Week - an engaging and collaborative learning experience where subjects come together to explore real-world themes. Throughout the week, students applied knowledge and skills from multiple disciplines to solve problems, create projects, and reflect on their learning in innovative ways. 

From designing sustainable cities to exploring cultural identity through music and performance, IDU Week showcased the power of integrated learning. We’re proud of our students' creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking, and grateful for our teachers' efforts in making this week such a meaningful success! 

3月24至28日，G6-10的同学们参与了我们的年度跨学科单元周活动（IDU），这是一场引人入胜且充满协作精神的学习体验，各个学科课程汇聚一堂，共同探索现实世界的主题。在整个活动周期间，学生们运用多学科的知识和技能，以创新的方式解决问题、创建项目并反思自己的学习成果。

从设计可持续城市到通过音乐和表演探索文化身份，IDU周活动充分展示了综合学习的强大力量。我们为学生的创造力、协作精神以及批判性思维能力感到自豪，同时我们感谢各位老师们的辛勤付出，让这一个乐趣纷纷的活动周取得了如此富有意义的成功！ 

The Drone club is practicing flying their micro quadcopters. We've been learning a lot about flight, electronics, and setting up virtual environments for digital racing and practice. Every other week we bring the racing micros out to get some real flight time. It's harder than it looks but lots of fun. Hopefully we'll get some pilots ready to compete in next year's Drones in Schools competitions. 

无人机俱乐部成员们正在练习操控微型四轴飞行器。我们学习到了很多有关飞行、电子技术的知识，还学会了搭建虚拟环境，以便开展无人机数字模拟竞速和日常练习。我们每隔一周就会带着竞速用微型无人机到户外进行实际飞行训练。无人机实际操控要比看起来困难，但也非常有趣，希望我们能培养出优秀的飞行选手，让他们做好准备，出战下一年的“校园无人机大赛”。 

This year’s student council elections at Net Valley Campus marked an exciting step forward for student leadership. For the first time, students were selected to lead a council that will bring together both middle and high school students in the upcoming school year. This change reflects a shared commitment to growing a school culture where all students feel connected, supported, and part of something meaningful. 

Being part of the Net Valley Student Council is an opportunity for students to develop their voice, take initiative, and build a community where everyone feels seen. Through organizing events, sharing ideas, and representing their peers, these students are learning to lead with empathy, responsibility, and purpose. 

Last week, the entire Net Valley community gathered for the annual student council elections, and the energy in the room was unforgettable. Each candidate brought their own personality to the stage, lighting up the theater with music, humor, creative incentives, and even surprise video messages from familiar faces. One candidate even took a pie to the face to show their commitment to school spirit. From bold ideas to quiet confidence, every speech reflected the diverse voices that make up our student body. It wasn’t just a showcase of public speaking, it was a celebration of creativity, courage, and connection. 

While only a few students were ultimately elected, every candidate who stood on stage showed incredible courage and passion. They reminded us of the values we hold close at SIS, kindness, collaboration, and the belief that every student has the power to make a difference. 

To the newly elected executive team - congratulations! Your community has placed its trust in you, and we look forward to seeing your leadership come to life. 

今年网谷校区的学生会选举标志着学生领导力发展迈出了令人振奋的一步。今年是首次选拔学生来领导一个将在下一学年汇聚初高中学生的学生会。这一变革反映了大家致力于共同营造一种学校文化，让所有学生都感到心相连，相互支持帮助并成为有意义之集体的一部分。 

加入网谷学生会对他们而言是一个为自己发声、发挥主动性以及构建一个让每个人都感到被重视的社区的机会。通过组织活动、分享想法以及代表同龄人，这些同学正在学习如何富有同理心、责任感和使命感地进行领导。 

网谷社区齐聚一堂共同参与年度学生会选举，现场气氛热烈难忘。每位候选人都在舞台上展现出自己的个性，用音乐、幽默等创意激励措施，甚至还有熟悉面孔的惊喜视频信息点亮了现场。一位候选人还在脸上挨了块蛋糕的趣味方式来彰显自己对校园精神的承诺。从大胆的想法到沉静的自信，每一场演讲都体现了我们学生群体构成的多元声音。这不仅仅是一场演讲展示，更是一场对创造力、勇气和连结的庆祝。 

虽然最终只有部份同学当选，但每位站在舞台上的候选人都展现出了令人难以置信的勇气和热情。他们是我们SIS所珍视的价值观——善良、合作以及相信每个学生都有能力做出改变的信念。 

我们向新当选的执行团队致以祝贺！我们的社区对你们寄予信任，期待看到你们的领导力付诸实践。 

SIS recently hosted an engaging and insightful University Fair and Workshop series in collaboration with American Educational Opportunities (AEO). The event welcomed students and parents from G9 to 11 and offered them a unique opportunity to connect with representatives from US universities. 

Through interactive sessions and one-on-one conversations, students explored academic programs, admissions processes, and campus life in institutions across the United States. The workshops provided practical guidance on building a strong university application, writing personal essays, and identifying best-fit universities. 

This event was part of SIS’s ongoing commitment to empowering students with global perspectives and informed choices as they begin their university journey.  We thank AEO for this valuable partnership and look forward to more events that support our students’ higher education aspirations. 

SIS近日与美国教育机会协会(AEO)携手，成功举办了一场引人入胜且富有洞见的大学招生展及系列研讨会。此次活动迎来了G9-11的学生和家长，为他们提供了一个与美国各高校代表交流的独特机会。 

通过互动环节和一对一的交流，学生们深入了解了美国各高校的学术课程、录取流程以及校园生活。研讨会还提供了实用的指导，包括如何打造一份强有力的大学申请材料、撰写个人陈述以及如何选择最适合自己的大学。 

此次活动是SIS致力于培养学生全球视野、助力学生做出明智大学选择这一持续承诺的一部分。我们感谢AEO的宝贵合作，并期待未来能举办更多支持学生高等教育梦想的活动。  

SIS was pleased to welcome Mr. Medhi Stitou, Admissions Manager of EDHEC Business School, for a special university visit as part of our ongoing career and university advising. EDHEC, one of Europe’s top business schools, engaged our students in an insightful session about global business education, undergraduate opportunities in France and their partner universities, and the value of pursuing an international degree. Mehdi shared detailed information on EDHEC’s English-taught programs, hands-on learning experiences, and strong focus on entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership. Students were enthusiastic and asked thoughtful questions about studying abroad, life in France, and career prospects after graduation. 

Events like these are part of SIS’s commitment to helping students explore diverse higher education options and plan meaningful academic futures. By connecting with world-class institutions, our students are empowered to make informed decisions and envision pathways that align with their personal goals and aspirations. We thank EDHEC for their time and valuable insights!

Commitment to campus safety remains a priority at Net Valley. This week, the local police department gave our students a speech on traffic safety, and we also had an unannounced evacuation drill to practice our preparedness in the unlikely event of an emergency. Our students and staff again demonstrated proficiency in the drill. 

对校园安全的承诺一直是网谷校区的首要任务。本周，当地交警队为我们的师生带来了一场交通安全科普讲座，我们还开展了一场突击疏散演习，演练我们在不太可能发生的紧急情况下的准备工作。我们的师生再次在演习中展现了娴熟的水平。 

Last Wednesday the high school boys' and girls' football teams traveled to Tianjin for the ACAMIS football tournament. Due to the weather forecast, the planned three-day tournament was reformatted into two days. After the round-robin stage, the boys secured third place with a comprehensive 5-0 victory against Harrow Beijing. 

The girls went on to win the tournament with the impressive feat of not conceding a single goal in the five matches played, including a 3-0 victory in the final against the host, the International School of Tianjin. Congratulations to our Gecko athletes!   

上周三，高中男女足球队前往天津参加ACAMIS足球锦标赛。因天气原因，原定为期三天的赛事改期两天。小组循环赛结束后，男队以5比0的绝对优势战胜北京哈罗学校，获得季军。

女队在决赛中以3比0战胜东道主天津国际学校，五场比赛一球未失，最终荣誉夺冠。祝贺我们的壁虎运动员们！
