ISNS DP Visual Art Exhibition-THR333 | 2025 DP
On March 26th the grade 12 art students launched
their exhibition! With a quiet, but lively atmosphere, teachers and students visited to see the pieces, ask questions and show support through adding to the signing wall!
This year's grade 12 exhibition explored a variety of themes including personal utopia, recreating the 5 senses through visual stimuli, and nature as a representation of one’s journey through life.
The exhibition is titled THR333, which has two layers of meaning.
The angel number 333 represents accepting new beginnings with open arms, putting plans into action and trusting yourself. In a lucky coincidence, the grade 12 art class also has 3 students!
Each student displayed their own unique approach to self-expression through their artworks by choosing unique mediums to work with!
Karina drew unique images on thin layers of translucent plastic with the hopes of visually recreating the intangible nature of scents. Her use of visually descending images acts as symbolism for how our memories of smells vanish over time.
In a piece titled “How to Feel a Memory” Polina sanded down a layer of PVC plastic to create a beautiful sense of wind within one of her artworks. In this piece she was portraying a breeze over an open field, hoping to recreate the idea of how it feels to relive a memory without being able to clearly see it.
In a piece titled “Looking Glass” Mikhaela used mesh green fabrics to recreate a tree that she believed was home to a family of fairies when she was young. The stark contrast between the welcoming green opening, and abrupt black interior was intended to represent how fast we can lose our imagination and faith in mythology as we grow up.
A teacher supporter that attended the exhibition said that through speaking to each of the artists about their works, it was clear that each of the artists have grown a lot as people over the course of their DP education, and it felt like they were given a deeper glimpse into the minds of our grade 12 students.
Another teacher supporter said that this year's exhibition was one of the most emotionally impactful student exhibitions she has ever been to, and that she was very proud to see the students’ hard work come together was beautifully as they did.
A Message from the artists
We just wanted to say thank you to every single one of the parents and teachers that came to our exhibition and supported us through asking questions, writing on the signing board, and purchasing merchandise. We also wanted to give a special thank you to our amazing art teacher Ms. Carnevale. She has provided us with immense one on one support over the past few years and especially over the course of our time in DP.
