Most of our teaching team members come from countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with a large majority of them being from the United States. They not only bring pure international educational concepts but also diverse cultural perspectives and rich teaching experience. They advocate the traditional American educational philosophy, emphasizing independence, advocating freedom, equality, and innovation. They are good at discovering the potential of each child and allowing every child to become the best version of themselves. In daily teaching, they focus on guiding students to think and ask questions, and are committed to cultivating students' innovative thinking, critical thinking, and problem - solving abilities. At the same time, they are proficient in encouragement - based education, enabling students to develop a sunny and confident personality in an atmosphere full of care.

Grade 1

Mr. Rashad

Mr. Rashad is a dedicated and dynamic educator from New Zealand, bringing a rich and diverse background in education and technology to the IB Primary Years Programme. With over eight years of teaching experience across multiple countries and disciplines, he is passionate about nurturing young learners through inquiry-based learning and holistic development.


He holds a bachelor’s degree in computing, Communication, and Technology from Waiariki Institute of Technology. In addition to his formal education, Mr. Ayache has completed several IB professional development workshops, further strengthening his commitment to the PYP framework and its core values.


Throughout his career, Rashad has taught a range of subjects in diverse educational settings. His past roles include Cambridge Mathematics Teacher, iSmart Math and Science Instructor, Pearson Middle School English Teacher, and Primary English Educator. He has also led technology instruction as a Computer Science and Technology Teacher, and served in homeroom roles that highlight his strengths in classroom community building.


Mr. Rashad is known for fostering a harmonious and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued and supported. He was proudly awarded the SAIS Teaching Star Award in 2024, recognizing his excellence in teaching and classroom leadership. He believes that being a lifelong learner and maintaining a positive outlook are essential qualities for both educators and students. His approach is centered on curiosity, collaboration, and creativity—empowering learners to become confident, compassionate global citizens.


Outside the classroom, Mr. Rashad enjoys hiking, exploring new technologies, and staying current with global educational trends. His international experience, passion for teaching, and dedication to student growth make him a valued member of the SAIS community.

Grade 2

Mr. Chad

Mr. Chad is a published fantasy author who brings over 25 years of teaching experience to the SAIS community. He has a degree in science education, from Harris University. He has taught a variety of subjects but Science, Reading and Creative Writing have been what he has enjoyed teaching most. Chad has an extensive background with many educational programs such as the US Common Core curriculums, Guided Reading, NGSS STEM Curriculum and Engage NY Math Curriculum, just to name a few. As a passionate educator, Mr Chad’s interest in teaching stems from a long-seeded passion for helping children of all walks of life achieve a bright future, and exceed their limits. In his free time, Chad likes to write, and engage in tabletop games with his friends and family. He can often be found running a Dungeons and Dragons game.

Ms. Amy

Amy is an Australian-qualified primary teacher who is excited to join the SAIS community. Originally from Western Australia, she has taught in Thailand, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Taiwan, bringing a wealth of international experience to her role. Amy holds Bachelor's degrees in Business and Arts, a Master of Teaching (Primary), a Master of Education, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Education. Her strength in education lies in nurturing curiosity and encouraging critical thinking, creating a classroom environment where students feel confident taking risks and learning from mistakes. Amy believes that every child deserves a learning environment where they feel valued, supported, and inspired to explore their potential. She is passionate about making learning engaging, inclusive, and meaningful, helping students develop a lifelong love for knowledge. 


Outside of teaching, Amy has a keen interest in languages, having studied Mandarin, Welsh, and Thai, and she looks forward to improving her Mandarin skills while in China. She also enjoys running, swimming, calligraphy, and participating in community sporting, cultural, and social events. Amy is excited to become a positive, passionate member of the SAIS team and immerse herself in the culture and community of Shenzhen.

Grade 4

Mr. Kevin

Mr. Kevin is a passionate and experienced educator from the United States, currently focused on Primary Years Programme (PYP) teaching within the IB framework. He is known for his thoughtful teaching approach and his ability to build strong, supportive relationships with students. Kevin holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Davis, and an LL.M. in Chinese Business Law from the School of Law at Fudan University. His interdisciplinary background gives him a unique lens on global education, systems thinking, and real-world application.


With over six years of teaching experience, Kevin has worked with students aged three to twelve across a variety of international and bilingual school contexts. He has developed a strong foundation in early childhood and primary education, with a focus on inquiry-based, student-driven learning. He is known for creating warm, interactive classroom environments where students feel seen, heard, and safe to take risks. His teaching emphasizes transdisciplinary connections, conceptual understanding, and the scaffolding of deep, transferable skills.


Kevin believes that emotional safety and intellectual engagement are equally important in empowering young learners to grow into independent, reflective, and principled individuals. He sees every student as capable, unique, and deserving of personalized guidance through their learning journey.


Beyond the classroom, Kevin is a creative copywriter and lifelong lover of literature, storytelling, and the arts. He is also a drone and AI enthusiast, with a growing interest in how emerging technologies and new thinking models can shape the future of education and communication.

Ms. Samantha

Ms. Samantha is a dedicated educator with over 12 years of diverse teaching experience, primarily as a homeroom teacher at international schools. Her extensive background includes roles as an IB PYP Teacher, EAL teacher, library reading and writing specialist, and bilingual class teacher. Samantha holds a Law degree (LLB Honours) from the University of Aberdeen, an IB PYP category 1 certificate, and is working on Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the University of Strathclyde.


Her strength lies in creating engaging and interactive lessons tailored to meet the needs of young learners, including those with special educational needs (SEN). At Shenzhen American International School she has worked with Grade 5 and focused on inquiry-based learning methods. Samantha is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes both academic and social growth.


Outside the classroom, she enjoys crafting, reading, and Scottish Ceilidh dancing, and has a passion for travel and horse riding.
