Ms. Ruth Lewis

In October 2025, SIFC’s campus was filled with the gradual chill of autumn, yet it remained vibrant and energetic as it hosted a significant event marking a profound collaboration in international education. A delegation from Gower College Swansea in the UK traveled over 6,000 miles from Wales to engage in a series of in-depth interactions with SIFC—from campus tours to the signing of a cooperation agreement—setting the stage for a shared vision of nurturing world-class talents.

The event began with the Gower College Swansea delegation embarking on a campus tour accompanied by SIFC teachers and students. The route spanned from the first-floor Brand and Admissions Center and second-floor classrooms to the specialized functional areas on the fourth floor of Building A. In the Art & Design Center, which showcases student creativity, the delegation paused to admire the walls adorned with paintings and design works. Upon entering the well-equipped STEM Center, they repeatedly expressed admiration, gaining a tangible sense of the diversity of SIFC's curriculum.

Another highlight was the golf simulator classroom: immersive scenarios recreated terrain from real golf courses, while professional data panels provided real-time feedback on swing mechanics, blending professionalism with an engaging teaching experience. Delegation members gathered closely to examine the details and exchanged insights with SIFC faculty on integrating sports courses with holistic education, their conversations brimming with appreciation.

The modern teaching facilities witnessed along the way, the dynamic yet focused classroom atmosphere, and the campus culture imbued with an international perspective all reflect the educational heritage of this international school with over two decades of history. At the core of this heritage lies the "whole-person education" philosophy that SIFC has always adhered to. Whether it is the spatial planning tailored to students' diverse developmental needs or the curriculum design integrating arts, science and innovation, sports, and other fields, every detail is closely aligned with the educational mission of "cultivating responsible global citizens," allowing the delegation to gain a more genuine and multi-dimensional understanding of SIFC’s educational practices.

Following the campus tour, both parties moved to the conference room for meetings and discussions. During the in-depth exchange between the two institutions, Fu Tengxiao, the founder and president of SIFC, began by reflecting on the school’s original mission, eloquently recounting its profound connection with British education.

As early as 1998, while serving as the Executive Vice Dean of the Teachers College of Shenzhen University, he had already participated in promoting the collaboration between Shenzhen University and Queen's University Belfast to launch the "Queen's Class," creating innovative waves in the field of international education in Guangdong. Driven by a sincere passion for international education, he spearheaded the establishment of SIFC in 2004. This institution, approved by the Education Bureau, not only officially brought "authentic British preparatory education" to Shenzhen but also began enrolling students for master's preparatory programs the following year (2005), fully establishing a preparatory education system spanning from bachelor's to master's degrees.

Known as a "pioneer of international education in Shenzhen," Principal Fu has dedicated over half a century to the field of education, embodying a commitment of "half his life teaching, half establishing schools." From participating in the preparation of the Shenzhen University Normal College to deepening international collaborative education, each step reflects his dedication to "enabling Chinese students to access high-quality British education," thereby establishing SIFC's distinctive British educational DNA.

Following this, representatives from Gower College Swansea shared insights into their own educational strengths. As a top public college in Wales, its mature experience in academic cultivation and holistic education resonates deeply with SIFC's educational philosophy. Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on "how education can serve as a bridge to transcend cultural boundaries," ultimately converging on a shared vision of "linking diverse cultures through education." This laid a solid conceptual foundation for future collaborations, including curriculum co-development and resource sharing between the two institutions.

Gower College Swansea is a leading public college in Wales, renowned for its exceptional academic achievements and high university progression rates. The college offers over 40 A-Level courses and a dedicated Oxbridge preparation program. Historically, 74% of its graduates have achieved A*-A grades, with 94% progressing to Russell Group universities and global top-100 institutions, making it a veritable "cradle of excellence." Nestled in the stunning natural landscape of the Gower Peninsula, the college blends rigorous academics with a wealth of extracurricular activities, providing students with a golden stepping stone to world-renowned universities.

The event then proceeded to its core segment—the signing ceremony. The ceremony began with both institutions screening their respective bilingual promotional videos.

In these ten-minute visual presentations, SIFC's educational achievements and Gower College Swansea's campus landscape were showcased in turn, offering students and faculty from both schools a clearer understanding of each other. This was followed by a ten-minute representative speech session. Jordan Pearson, Assistant Principal and Head of Humanities and Social Sciences at SIFC, spoke as a faculty representative. He highlighted SIFC’s commitment to "never giving up on any student," its support for innovative teaching methods, and its track record of guiding students to top universities worldwide over the past two decades. He humorously remarked, "Just don’t let our students find out about your esports program, or they might all be rushing to apply for an exchange." His light-hearted tone conveyed both anticipation for the collaboration and the alignment of both institutions in their dedication to the "whole-person education" philosophy. Both schools prioritize not only academic excellence but also the cultivation of character, including integrity, confidence, and respect.

|Ms. Ruth Lewis, Head of International at Gower College Swansea

Ruth Lewis, stated, "True education goes far beyond academic results and university admissions. It is about broadening horizons and deepening cultural understanding. The reason Gower College has chosen to partner with SIFC is because we share a profound alignment in our educational philosophies. We both believe that the essence of education is to break down boundaries and connect the world. SIFC’s personalized educational philosophy—'treating every student as the only student'—along with its proactive exploration of AI empowerment and interdisciplinary innovation, and its forward-thinking practices in cultivating students’ global competence, have deeply inspired us. As we have discussed together, 'How can education serve as a bridge to transcend cultural boundaries?'—this is not merely a question, but a shared mission we are committed to."

|Mr. Fu Hao, Representative of SIFC and Chairman of the Board, and
Ms. Ruth Lewis, Head of International at Gower College Swansea

Under the witness of teachers and students, the signing ceremony officially commenced: the representatives from both sides solemnly signed the Memorandum of Cooperation, and in just a few minutes of signing, a milestone moment for collaboration between the two schools was captured. This was immediately followed by the plaque presentation and exchange of commemorative gifts, elevating the ceremony to a climax. Though small in size, the plaque and gifts carry the shared vision of both institutions to "build a cooperative partnership and jointly cultivate global talents."

Going forward, the two schools will take this signing as an opportunity to deepen collaboration in dimensions such as student cross-border exchanges, mutual visits between administrative and teaching teams, and joint research on teaching resources and methodologies. Students will have the opportunity to traverse more than six thousand miles of mountains and oceans, personally experiencing the collision of diverse cultures and different learning models, thereby broadening their global horizons through firsthand experience. Teachers, in turn, will deeply integrate into the global education community, breaking through their "skill ceilings" through shared experiences and the exchange of ideas, and exploring high-quality teaching practices better suited to cultivating international talent. Furthermore, the two schools will serve as vital windows for each other to connect with local cultures and extend community influence, enabling the mutual learning and appreciation of different civilizations to occur naturally within educational settings.

As Jordan aptly stated, "Engaging with the unknown is the best way to understand oneself." This educational partnership spanning more than 6,000 miles has not only transformed the two institutions from geographically distant "far neighbors" into like-minded "companions" in educational philosophy but also sets a new benchmark for international education in the Greater Bay Area. It will open fresh, world-oriented perspectives for SIFC students, allowing the core educational goal of "nurturing responsible citizens with a global vision" to take firm root and flourish on the broad platform of cross-cultural collaboration.
