2024-2025学年奖学金颁奖典礼 | 逐光而行，筑梦新哲

典礼伊始，新哲文院执行校长许盛贵先生首先向所有获奖学子表示热烈祝贺，并向全体同学提出三点希望：

At the beginning of the ceremony, Mr. Xu Shenggui, Executive Principal of Sendelta,  extended warm congratulations to all award-winning students and put forward three hopes for all students:

一是祝贺获奖学子利用学校激励政策、通过自身努力获得奖学金，更肯定同学们的努力过程与自我高标准要求；二是希望同学们珍惜荣誉与获取荣誉的过程，明白成功需持续努力和长期累积，同时尊重、珍惜这份奖金；三是希望获奖学子做好榜样，坚持严格要求自己，带动身边同学共同进步。最后祝愿全体同学未来取得更大进步，成为更好的自己。

First, he congratulated the award-winning students for utilizing the school's incentive policies and earning the scholarships through their own efforts, and highly recognized their hard work and high standards for themselves. Second, he hoped that students would cherish the honor and the process of earning it, understand that success requires continuous effort and long-term accumulation, and at the same time respect and value the scholarship funds. Third, he encouraged the award-winning students to set a good example, maintain strict requirements for themselves, and drive their peers to make progress together. Finally, he wished all students greater progress in the future and to become better versions of themselves.

Principal Xu's encouragement and expectations injected strength for progress into the students present, and also made the students firmly believe that honor is not the end, but the starting point of shouldering responsibilities.

Good afternoon everyone,

It’s a real honor to stand here today and share my thoughts as a scholarship recipient. My name is Evelyn, and I’m currently in H3C5. Over the past year, I’ve been taking nine AP courses, from English Language and Composition to several history courses to Calculus BC. Though eventually I got a five on all of them, it still feels very draining to study these courses.

When I first started my AP journey, I thought achievement was all about grades. But soon I realized that true learning is about how we grow through the process. I remember forming my own writing style after intensive training in AP Lang under Sebastian, which extended to my AP literature journey with Tibi. I also remember how the habit of writing history essays extended from ap world to ap united states history eventually to ap euro, with the instruction under Ivan N and Ivan D. I think AP journey essentially is about learning how to manage time when everything feels overwhelming, how to stay motivated when results don’t meet expectations, and how to keep curiosity alive even when things get difficult.

I remember many late nights before exams, surrounded by notes and coffee, feeling both exhausted and proud. Especially when my mock grade for ap chem rose from a 3 to a 5, I felt like everything i dedicated paid back something to me. Looking back, those moments taught me something important — that persistence, not talent, determines how far we go.

This award, to me, is not the end of a journey but the beginning of a new one. It reminds me that every step forward, no matter how small, brings me closer to the person I want to become. In the future, I hope to continue exploring how knowledge connects with the real world: how economics, politics, and literature can together shape understanding between people and nations.

I want to thank my teachers for their patience and encouragement and my classmates and friends for their constant support. To all of my peers here today, I hope this moment could keep you learning bravely and to believe that every effort you make today will one day become part of your success. Don’t give up when the key essence is just to try a little bit more. 

各位老师、同学，下午好！

今天能作为奖学金获得者在此发言，我深感荣幸。我是赵琳琅Evelyn，目前就读于 H3C5。过去一年里，我选修了九门 AP 课程，从英语语言与写作到多门历史课，再到微积分 BC。虽然最终全部取得了 5 分的成绩，但这段学习经历依然让我感到精疲力竭。刚开始接触 AP 时，我以为成绩就是一切。但很快我意识到，真正的学习在于过程中的成长。

我记得在 Sebastian 老师的 AP 语言课上，通过高强度训练形成了自己的写作风格，这种能力后来在 Tibi 老师的 AP 文学课中得到了延续；我也记得在 Ivan N 和 Ivan D 老师的指导下，从 AP 世界史到 AP 美国史再到 AP 欧洲史，逐步养成了撰写历史论文的习惯。AP 之旅的本质，其实是学会在压力中管理时间，在结果不如预期时保持动力，在遇到困难时依旧守护好奇心。我仍记得考前无数个深夜，被笔记和咖啡包围，虽疲惫却充满自豪。尤其当我的 AP 化学模考分数从 3 分提高到 5 分时，我感到一切付出都有了回报。回首望去，这些经历让我明白：决定我们能走多远的不是天赋，而是坚持。

这份奖项对我而言并非终点，而是一个新起点。它提醒我，每一小步的前行，都在让我更接近理想的自己。未来，我希望能继续探索知识与现实世界的联系：经济、政治与文学如何共同塑造人与人、国与国之间的理解。

感谢老师们的耐心指导与鼓励，也感谢同学和朋友们的支持。今天在场的所有同龄人，我希望此刻能激励各位勇敢地持续学习，并相信今日的每一分努力，终将成为未来成功的一部分。请不要在只需多尝试一次的时刻选择放弃。

当得知获得这份贡献奖时，我内心满是惊喜与感动。这份荣誉不仅是对我过去一年在校园中参与各类活动的肯定，更凝聚着老师的信任、同学的支持以及团队伙伴的并肩付出。从元旦晚会的舞蹈表演到策划新生探校活动，从社团招新的台前幕后到学生会的各项工作，每一次参与都因有大家的陪伴而更有意义，所以首先要向所有支持我的人说一声“谢谢”。

如果说有什么经验可以分享，我想是“在热爱中尽责，在协作中成长”。作为舞蹈社和推理社的社长，我深知社团的活力源于成员们的共同热爱，所以带着大家把每一次排练、每一场活动都做到尽善；在学生会和文体部的工作中，从毕业晚会到万圣节活动，从i-mart到新生探校，每一个项目的成功都离不开团队的分工协作，我学会了在沟通中凝聚力量，在执行中主动担当。

展望未来，我有两个方向的规划：一是深耕“引领力”，作为学生会主席，我会更注重搭建学生与学校的沟通桥梁，优化活动策划的流程，让每一场活动都能真正服务同学、点亮校园；二是强化“辐射力”，在舞蹈社和推理社中打造更完善的传承机制，把经验分享给新成员，同时探索跨社团的合作模式，让校园文化活动更具多样性与影响力。

这份荣誉是起点而非终点，我会带着这份认可继续在校园建设中发光发热，用实际行动诠释“贡献”的意义，也期待和大家一起创造更多属于我们的校园精彩！

When I learned that I had received this Contribution Award, I was filled with both surprise and gratitude. This honor not only recognizes my involvement in various campus activities over the past year but also embodies the trust of my teachers, the support of my classmates, and the collaborative efforts of my teammates. From performing in the New Year’s Gala to planning the New Student Orientation, from participating in club recruitment to contributing to student council initiatives—every experience has been more meaningful because of the people alongside me. So first and foremost, I want to say “thank you” to everyone who has supported me.

If there’s any insight I can share, it would be this: Take responsibility in what you love, and grow through collaboration. As the president of both the Dance Club and the Mystery Club, I understand that a club’s vitality comes from its members’ shared passion. That’s why I strive to make every rehearsal and event the best it can be. In my roles in the Student Council and the Arts & Sports Department, whether organizing the Graduation Gala, Halloween events, I-Mart, or the New Student Orientation, I’ve learned that success depends on teamwork. I’ve grown through communication, coordination, and taking initiative in execution.

Looking ahead, I have two main goals:

First, to deepen leadership impact. As Student Council President, I will focus on strengthening communication between students and the school, improving event planning processes, and ensuring that every activity truly serves the student body and enriches campus life.

Second, to expand influence. In the Dance and Mystery Clubs, I aim to establish sustainable systems for passing down knowledge and experience to new members, while also exploring cross-club collaborations to make campus culture more diverse and impactful.

This award is a beginning, not an end. I will carry this recognition forward, continuing to contribute actively to campus life and exemplify the true meaning of “contribution.” I look forward to working with all of you to create even more memorable moments together!

Good afternoon. I am Crystal from H4C5, and I’m here today to talk broadly about extracurriculars and competitions.

Since I was in middle school, I have developed a habit of devoting at least half of my time in extracurriculars. As a result, I benefited immensely both socially and intellectually from the networking brought to me by my hobby and the activity itself. I am not here to talk to you about the importance of having activities. There are two things I want to talk about today, one being the mentality you should have and two being how to plan your activities.  

I am a senior now, and since the year started, applications have been on the top of my mind. While filling in my activity list, I was reminded of how I entered each of these activities respectively.

For those that know me, you’ll know that I debate a whole lot. But for the entirety of my debating career until last year, I was told that debate wouldn’t help me that much in my applications. At one point it seemed like I had made a regretful choice spending so much time in debate. It was until this year, May, when me and my friends became the first Chinese team to win USA Nationals in years, that debate became meaningful to my application. I also entered Team China and represented China in WSDC.

I’m telling you this because I think for those who have any awareness about applications, the functionality of activities is always a main area of consideration. Of course, you should wisely spend your time and avoid activities that are easily replicable, for instance paid research internship or CTB something almost half of the grade does. But no matter what you do, meaning is only achieved when you have dedicated enough to the activity itself. Whether it is being an impressive achiever, or finding out something about life in the process of pursuing your hobby, you need to try hard to ask for anything in return. And when you do try hard, without letting you notice, your work pays you back in the most invisible and visible ways.

From the perspective of someone who is now filling in applications, I have some advice.

1. You might be really into something, but unless you are going to make it to the top of it, don’t narrow yourself down to that only. You will look focused but also narrow and even dull on your activity list.

2. Find connections between your hobbies and activities. Whether through interdisciplinary studies or through transferrable skills, branch out from the activities you have and discover your full potential.

3. Don’t do paid activities. Research, expensive competitions that give out prizes to everyone.

我是来自 H4C5 的廖子墨Crystal，今天想和大家聊聊课外活动与竞赛这个话题。

从初中起，我就养成了将至少一半时间投入课外活动的习惯。这些爱好和活动带来的社交圈，让我在人际交往和思维拓展上都获益良多。今天我并非要强调参加活动的重要性，而是想分享两点：一是参与活动时应有的心态，二是如何规划你的活动。

作为一名十二年级学生，这学期开始以来，大学申请成了我最关注的事。在填写活动列表时，我总会想起自己是如何一步步走进每一项活动的。

认识我的同学都知道，我花了很多时间在辩论上。但直到去年，总有人告诉我辩论对申请帮助不大，甚至一度让我觉得投入这么多时间是个遗憾的选择。直到今年五月，我和队友成为多年来首支在美国全国辩论赛中夺冠的中国队伍，辩论才真正为我的申请增添了分量。后来我还入选中国代表队，参加了世界中学生辩论赛。

分享这些是因为，对于关注申请的同学们来说，活动的“实用性”常是考量重点。当然，我们需要明智地分配时间，避免选择易被复制的活动（例如付费科研实习、或几乎半个年级都参加的CTB等项目）。但无论你选择什么，只有当你真正全心投入时，活动才会产生意义。无论是取得亮眼成就，还是在追求爱好的过程中对生活产生新的感悟，你都必须努力付出，才能有所收获。而当你真正努力时，回报自会在无形与有形之间悄然呈现。

作为一名正在进行申请的过来人，我想给大家几点建议：

1. 即使你非常热爱某件事，除非能做到顶尖水平，否则不要将活动范围局限于此。否则你的活动列表会显得专注，却也单一甚至乏味。

2. 在不同爱好与活动之间建立联系。无论是通过跨学科探索，还是可迁移能力的培养，都要从现有活动出发，拓展出更多可能性，发掘自己的完整潜力。

3. 远离付费活动。例如付费科研、以及那些向所有人滥发奖项的高价竞赛。
