At SAIS, we believe that the classroom is more than a place of instruction — it is a space for discovery, connection, and growth.

Through the IB PYP framework, our students use their senses to explore, their voices to express, and their creativity to think critically.


Each class opens a window to the world and shapes our learners into curious, reflective, and compassionate global citizens.


Inquiry and Discovery: Seeing the World Anew


In Mr. Steven’s UOI class, students wore blindfolds and used their taste, smell, and touch to identify different fruits.

When vision was taken away, they discovered new ways to perceive the world.


This was a vivid embodiment of the IB PYP theme “Who We Are” — understanding ourselves and our senses.

Through this experience, students learned to observe, analyze, and express — discovering the power of inquiry.



Language and Culture: Understanding the World through Words


In the G2/G3 Chinese class, students explored the “Animals” theme through vocabulary, sentence building, and panda crafts.

They learned about the symbolism of pandas in Chinese culture, marked their home countries on a world map, and wrote short self-introductions in Chinese.


At SAIS, language learning goes beyond pronunciation and vocabulary.

It is about understanding culture, identity, and the power of communication.

Language becomes a bridge that connects ideas, cultures, and confident young learners.


Reflection and Goals: Finding Dreams through Learning


In the “My Dream Magic” project, Grade 2 students explored how balance, reflection, and healthy habits help them pursue their dreams.

They created “Energy Rainbow Charts” and “Dream Posters,” showcasing their goals and weekly reflections.


During the showcase, they became “little wizards,” presenting their dreams and sharing the energy behind them.

Beyond language, they learned self-management, emotional awareness, and goal setting — key attributes of reflective, balanced IB learners.



Creativity and Action: Turning Knowledge into Experience


In Grade 3, students applied measurement and multiplication to design hopscotch patterns, turning math into motion and play.

Meanwhile, Grade 5 students in the Chinese class completed a “Portrait of Teacher Zhang” project — combining art, writing, and presentation.


These project-based learning experiences (PBL) show how SAIS connects theory with practice.

Students learn through collaboration, creativity, and reflection — a living example of our philosophy: Learning by Doing.

在IB PYP的探究主题中,孩子们用身体去感知、用语言去表达、用创造去思考。

感官与探究:让孩子重新认识自己


在Mr. Steven的探究课堂中,孩子们戴上眼罩,通过味觉、嗅觉与触觉去分辨水果。当视觉被遮蔽时,他们发现世界还可以用不同的方式去理解。


这是IB PYP主题“Who We Are”的生动实践:认识自我、理解身体、探索感官。在感知的过程中,孩子们不仅学会了观察与表达,更体验了探究的力量。



语言与文化:在多语言环境中理解世界


在G2/G3非母语中文课堂上,孩子们以“动物”为主题学习词汇,并制作熊猫手工艺品。他们了解了熊猫在中国文化中的象征意义,并在世界地图上标注自己的国家,用中文写下自我介绍。


课堂中的语言学习,不只是发音与词汇,更是文化与身份的理解。


语言是桥梁——连接文化、连接世界、连接每一个小小学习者的自信。


情感与目标:从反思中找到梦想


在“我们是谁”探究单元中,二年级的孩子完成了一个特别的主题项目——《我的理想魔法》。他们设计了“能量彩虹表”和“理想海报”,学习如何通过“平衡”与“反思”来追逐梦想。


在展示日上,孩子们化身“小魔法师”,分享自己的Dream Poster故事,讲述梦想背后的能量与努力。


他们学会的不只是语言表达,更是自我管理、情绪觉察与目标设定,这正是IB学习者培养目标中的核心素养。



跨学科与创造:从知识到行动


在数学课堂上,三年级学生用测量和乘法知识制作跳房子游戏,用数字去“玩”出图形的面积。

而在G5非母语中文课堂上,学生们完成了“张老师人像创作”项目,从绘画到文字再到PPT设计,实现了从知识输入到创意输出的完整学习闭环。


这样的项目式学习(PBL)让学生在动手与合作中,将知识转化为行动。

这正体现了SAIS一贯倡导的教育理念——Learning by Doing,让学习变得有意义、有创造力、有温度。
