A special lesson
On a October morning, BMH teachers and students visited the historic Guanlan Old Town. Led by School First Secretary Ms Xie Fengmin, the group explored the well-preserved streets and structures, turning the ancient site into a real-world classroom.
Learning Through Discovery
Rather than listening to a lecture, students became active explorers. They walked through old lanes, observed architectural details, and recorded their impressions. With teachers encouraging them to “look closely and touch gently,” history felt present and tangible in every brick and tile.
Students gained insight into traditional crafts through live demonstrations. They saw how movable-type printing brings text to life and watched the careful process of tie-dyeing. It was a chance to appreciate the skill and creativity behind these art forms.
Throughout the day, students shared their thoughts and reactions with teachers and peers. These conversations deepened the experience, turning the visit into more than a field trip—it became a shared moment of cultural connection.
The day concluded not with speeches, but with something more lasting: a genuine respect for history, a growing pride in local culture, and a quiet determination to honor both in the years ahead.
