Last week, our dedicated educators from Early Years through Middle School came together for an inspiring week of Professional Development (PD) with international consultants from Erin Kent Consulting (EKC) and the International Baccalaureate (IB).
Each year, ISNS invests over $2 million USD in teacher professional learning — a reflection of our unwavering commitment to academic excellence and innovation as an IB World School.
This year’s workshops focused on creating language-rich, inquiry-driven classrooms, amplifying student agency, and deepening authentic connections between teaching and real-world learning.
MS Language-Rich Classrooms:
Cultivating Trust, Agency, and Creativity

This two-day workshop explored how spoken, written, and visual language shape creativity, belonging, and student agency across all subjects. Through collaboration and modeling, teachers developed practical strategies to make every classroom a language-rich environment that empowers every learner.
EY Amplifying Early Literacy in Play-Based Environments

Teachers discovered high-impact strategies for early literacy development in play-based environments, focusing on curiosity, collaboration, and oral language growth. By integrating research from the Science of Reading, participants designed literacy-rich spaces where storytelling and writing flourish naturally through play.
PYP HRT + EAL Transdisciplinary Literacy

Educators explored how to embed literacy authentically into Units of Inquiry. They learned how shared texts, fluency routines, and text sets can deepen understanding, enhance equity, and support multilingual learners across disciplines.
Building Student Competencies
This session guided teachers in helping students grow into compassionate, lifelong learners. By connecting classroom learning to global contexts, educators reflected on ways to inspire agency, curiosity, and real-world engagement.
Action, Agency, and Engagement
Teachers dove into strategies for meaningful, student-centered learning. Through practical tools and inquiry design, they explored how authentic action and community engagement can make learning more impactful and empowering.
Building Your IB Programme
This session focused on strengthening the PYP framework and building shared understanding across teams. Through reflection and collaboration, teachers explored how to bring IB philosophy to life and design learning experiences that put students at the center.
Through the expertise of our EKC and IB partners, ISNS educators walked away with renewed inspiration, deeper understanding, and practical tools to elevate learning across all grade levels.
