This year marks the first time VMA participated in the Cambridge Science Competition. The competition invites students to work in teams of three to six — just like real scientists — to investigate real-world problems through practical inquiry and innovation. Each team selected a topic in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics, with a strong focus on sustainability and community impact.
今年是万科梅沙书院首次举办剑桥科学竞赛活动。竞赛活动要求学生以3-6人为一组,模拟真正科学家的研究场景,围绕现实世界中的科学问题展开探究——从生物、化学、物理三大领域中自主选定研究主题,且始终将可持续发展价值与社会影响力作为核心考量方向。
Opening Ceremony Highlights
Over two months, students worked collaboratively during after-class time on Tuesdays and Thursdays, guided by their science teachers acting as mentors. Teachers supported students by coordinating logistics and ensuring safety, but all research, experimentation, and analysis were completed independently by the teams. Each group submitted a full research paper, a scientific poster, and an oral presentation — showcasing both their investigative skills and their ability to communicate scientific findings. Through this process, students demonstrated the Cambridge learner attributes — becoming confident, responsible, reflective, innovative, and engaged learners.
从确定选题到完成成果提交,两个月的备赛周期里,学生们将每周二、周四的课余时间充分利用起来,在科学教师的专业指导下协作推进研究。教师团队主要承担统筹协调与安全保障工作,而研究设计、实验操作、数据分析等核心环节,均由学生自主完成。最终,每支团队都交出了包含完整研究报告、科学海报与口头汇报的 “三维成果”,不仅呈现了扎实的科研探索过程,更展现出清晰、专业的科学表达能力。在这一过程中,学生们也生动诠释了剑桥学习者的核心特质——自信从容的态度、严谨负责的精神、善于反思的习惯、勇于突破的创新意识,以及全情投入的热情。
The Science Competition not only deepened their understanding of Cambridge IGCSE science but also strengthened critical skills in collaboration, data analysis, and creative problem-solving. During the opening ceremony, our Principal, Mr. Felix Dou, Dean of Academics Dr. Andri Nel-Rasmussen, and Science Course Head, Mr. Edgar Costa, delivered inspiring speeches. They highlighted the importance of scientific inquiry and how competitions like this prepare students for success at school, university, and beyond.
本次竞赛不仅是一次“实战练兵”,更是对剑桥IGCSE科学知识的深度融合与应用。通过亲身参与研究,学生在团队协作、跨角色交流、数据解读与创新性解决问题等关键能力上,都实现了显著提升。竞赛开幕式上,梅沙书院校长窦连辉、学术院长Andri Nel-Rasmussen及科学学科组长Edgar Costa先后发言,表达对学生的期许与鼓励。他们在分享中强调,科学探究是推动个人成长与社会进步的重要力量,而此类竞赛正是为学生搭建了一座桥梁——帮助他们将课堂所学与现实世界连接,为未来的校园深造、大学专业学习乃至职业发展,积累宝贵的实践经验与思维方法。
Following the ceremony, three top teams presented their research to an audience of over 100 guests, including teachers, students, and visitors from our sister schools — Shenzhen Vanke Bilingual School(VBS), Shenzhen Meisha Bilingual School(MBS), and Zhongshan Meisha Experimental School(MES). Guests then joined a hands-on Science Gallery Walk featuring all 11 teams’ posters on the 3rd floor, where they could engage with experiments and demonstrations.
开幕式后,三支表现突出的学生团队率先登场,向现场百余位观众展示了他们的研究成果。在场观众不仅有梅沙书院的师生,还有来自深圳万科双语学校、深圳梅沙双语学校和中山梅沙实验学校的嘉宾,大家共同聆听研究思路,交流科学见解。随后,嘉宾与师生们一同前往三楼参观“科学画廊漫步”——这里集中展示了全部11支参赛团队的科学海报,更设置了实验互动与演示环节,让观众能近距离感受科学研究的魅力。
