1月12日,在深圳市鯨帆港人子弟學校第二十周升旗儀式上,老師與同學們分別發表講話。

Good morning, principals, teachers, and fellow students.


I’m Wendy from 5D. Today, I would like to talk about something that concerns all of us—how we learn, especially as DSE students facing both expectations and pressure.


We live in a world that often focuses only on results: high scores, perfect grades, and outstanding achievements. However, behind every success lies an unseen journey—a process built on small, consistent efforts. True learning is not about being perfect from the beginning; it is about having the courage to start, the willingness to try, and the determination to improve step by step.


When we study a challenging subject, what truly matters is not only the final examination, but also the daily revision, the questions we ask in class, the notes we rewrite, and the moments when we choose understanding over memorization. Progress is created through consistency. Reading a few pages each day, completing one more maths question, or reviewing yesterday’s vocabulary may seem small, but these actions lead to meaningful and lasting improvement.


Mistakes are also an essential part of learning. They are not signs of failure, but opportunities for growth. Every mistake we correct brings us closer to deeper understanding and greater confidence.

Moreover, learning is not a journey we walk alone. We learn from our teachers, from our classmates, and from the challenges we face together. When we support one another, the journey becomes lighter and more meaningful.


So as we continue our studies, let us focus on progress rather than perfection. Let us value every effort, celebrate every improvement, and keep moving forward—step by step, with patience and courage.

尊敬校长,各位老师,各位同学:

大家早上好!

学期即将结束,当我们感叹时间匆匆,一个学期看似漫长却又转瞬即逝时,我在想,我们如何衡量一个学期的价值?是它的“长度”,还是它的“厚度”?

时间的长度是固定的,它由日历上的周次和课表上的节数界定。它平等地赋予每个人,不以我们的意志为转移。然而,真正决定我们收获与成长的,是这有限长度里的“厚度”。

“厚度”,是知识的深度与广度。它不在于翻过多少页书,而在于多少次与思想深刻对话,将零散的知识串联成体系,让学问在心里扎根。“厚度”,是课堂上一次豁然开朗的喜悦,是运动场上一次拼尽全力的奔跑,是与同伴合作时碰撞出的火花,也是面对挑战时那份不放弃的坚持。这些瞬间,压缩了时间,延展了生命的维度。

一个学期可以很“薄”,在机械的重复与被动接受中悄然滑过,回首时只剩模糊的轮廓。一个学期也可以很“厚”,每一日都用心耕耘,用好奇探索未知,用汗水浇灌梦想,用善意温暖他人。这样的一天,胜过虚度的许多时光;这样的一个学期,其“厚度”足以支撑我们走向更远的未来。

同学们,学期的长度由时间划定,但它的厚度,却掌握在我们每个人手中。让我们珍惜这宝贵的时光,不仅做时间的经历者,更做意义的创造者。用专注增加学习的厚度,用热情增加生活的厚度,用担当增加生命的厚度。

愿我们在有限的长度里,共同拓展无限的厚度,不负韶华,不负时代。
