Psychology Diorama Exhibition 加方课程心理学成果展

The grade 11 Psychology students used a hands-on and creative approach to demonstrate their understanding and appreciation of a Mi’kmaq (one group of many Indigenous peoples in Canada) term of Etuaptmumk, which translates into English as “Two-Eyed Seeing”. This concept encourages individuals to take the best knowledge gained through an Indigenous lens and combine it with the best knowledge gained through a Western scientific lens to see, grasp, and comprehend life more deeply. 

Students were paired up and prompted to select one of fourteen psychological topics ranging from “addiction and overcoming”, “dreams and unconsciousness, “mental health and healing”, to topics like “identity and self-understanding”, “mindfulness and presence”, “grief and loss”, and “child-rearing practices”. Each diorama and accompanying written explanation illustrates how Indigenous and Western perspectives are balanced and integrated through the use of symbols and objects that are deeply connected to the chosen psychological topic. 

An exhibition space was set up to allow the creators of the diorama to not only display their artwork but to be provided with the opportunity to appreciate the artistic visions and work of their cohort-mates. Students were encouraged to visit the exhibition both independently and together as a class. During the class walk-through, students were empowered to individually express, in English, their preferred diorama and reasons for their choice. 



高二年级加方课程心理学的学生采用了动手实践与创造性相结合的方式,来展示他们对米克马克族(Mi’kmaq,加拿大众多原住民群体之一)概念 Etuaptmumk 的理解与欣赏。该词在英语中被译为双眼看世界Two-Eyed Seeing。这一理念鼓励人们结合通过原住民视角以及结合西方科学视角获得的最佳知识,从而更深入地看见、理解并体悟生命。


学生们两人一组,从十四个心理学主题中选择一个进行探究,主题范围包括成瘾与克服梦境与无意识心理健康与疗愈,以及身份与自我理解正念与当下觉察悲伤与失落儿童养育方式等。每一件立体模型及其书面说明都通过与所选心理学主题紧密相关的象征与物品,展现了原住民视角与西方视角之间的平衡与融合。


学校还在治学楼二楼设置了展览空间,让立体模型的创作者不仅能够展示自己的艺术作品,也有机会欣赏同学们的艺术构想与成果。学生们可以在课余时间自行观展也可以以班级为单位观展。在集体参观过程中,学生们能够用英语表达自己最喜欢的立体模型以及选择它的原因。
