When Choice Matters: Inside the ISNS Grade 10 Subject Fair|当选择变得重要:走进 ISNS 十年级科目展
At ISNS, subject selection is never treated as a formality. For Grade 10 students, choosing courses for Grades 11 and 12 is a moment where interests, strengths, and future aspirations begin to intersect. The recent Grade 10 Subject Fair was designed to support this moment with intention, clarity, and openness.
Following the “Design Your Pathway” workshop, led by the DP/NB Coordination team and University & Career Counsellors,
Students and parents entered the fair not simply to collect information, but to ask informed questions and engage in meaningful dialogue about what comes next.
Teachers and senior students welcomed families across subject areas including Sciences, Individuals & Societies, the Arts, and Core courses.
The atmosphere was energetic and purposeful, with conversations unfolding at every booth.
When Learning Becomes Visible and Support Designed for Real Decisions like this:
Each subject booth was supported by a subject teacher alongside current Grade 11 and Grade 12 students.
Senior students spoke with confidence and honesty about their courses: the challenges, the workload, and the growth they have experienced.
Their willingness to share openly reflects the learning culture at ISNS — one where students are encouraged not only to succeed, but to articulate and reflect on how they learn.
As families moved through the space, questions shifted
From
Conversations became more personal, more specific, and more meaningful.
Parents commented on how approachable and helpful the senior students were, while many students left feeling reassured and more confident about the decisions ahead.
This was not guidance delivered at families,
but guidance built with them — a deliberate choice in how ISNS supports its community.
The Subject Fair did not stand alone. Together with the Design Your Pathway workshop, it formed part of a broader support system led by the DP/NB and University & Career Counselling teams, ensuring that course choices are aligned not only with requirements, but with long-term goals and individual aspirations.
What makes events like the Grade 10 Subject Fair distinctive is not their scale, but their purpose.
At ISNS, learning pathways are treated as personal, evolving journeys — and students are trusted as active participants in shaping them. It is not simply offering diverse pathways, but building the understanding and confidence students need to navigate them.
