Joyce Li

ZhenZhen

The 18th ISNS Chinese Cultural Week was not simply a celebration — it was a powerful example of what happens when learning, culture, and community come together.

Spring Temple Fair

Our soccer field and entrance walkway were transformed into a vibrant Eastern Arts & Leisure Fair after a grand opening ceremony.

Students rotated through hands-on cultural activities, collecting stamps on their activity cards and earning prizes as they explored traditional arts, games, and festive customs. Dressed in traditional Chinese attire and celebrating the Year of the Horse, our campus radiated color, pride, and joy.

The structured rotation across grade levels ensured that every student — from Kindergarten through Grade 12 — had the opportunity to participate meaningfully. The experience was joyful, but also purposeful: students were not only celebrating culture, they were actively engaging with it.

Food Fair

One of the most heartwarming highlights of the week was the Food Fair.

Parent volunteers and our Sodexo team came together to create a bustling food market filled with traditional flavors and festive treats. Their dedication, time, and generosity transformed the fair into more than just a culinary experience — it became a symbol of partnership and care.

We extend our sincere gratitude to every parent and to Sodexo for their extraordinary support.

Chinese Cultural Show

Across EY, PYP, MSHS, students took the stage in the Chinese Cultural Shows, presenting performances that blended language learning, artistic expression, and cultural storytelling.

These performances demonstrated growth — not only in language proficiency, but in confidence, creativity, and global awareness. For many students, standing on stage became an opportunity to connect tradition with identity.

Thanks for Support

This wonderful opening celebration was made possible by the meticulous planning of the Chinese Department, the enthusiastic support of the Parent Association (PA) and parent volunteers, and the generous assistance of our community partners, who together brought the celebration to life.

PA Voices

Joyce Li

PA Director

The ISNS Chinese Cultural Week has now reached its 18th year and has become the largest annual event fully supported by our Parent Committee. It is thoughtfully planned by the school’s Chinese language department, while the Parent Committee takes the lead in organizing the food fair. Many parent volunteers, especially mothers, prepare a wide variety of traditional Chinese dishes by hand and share them with every student and teacher on the day of the event.

The food represents the rich diversity of Chinese culture from north to south and from east to west. The children enjoy the food with smiles, and teachers speak highly of it. For many foreign students, the food fair becomes their very first taste of Chinese cuisine—and the beginning of their love for it.

As the current Chair of the Parent Committee, I will continue to carry forward and support this tradition. Every year, Parent Committee members work hard to raise funds and organize sales. Apart from a small portion donated to charitable organizations, all funds raised are used directly to support school programs and student activities. Our Parent Committee members and parent volunteers dedicate their time and energy to every task, because seeing the children’s smiles and sense of joy is our greatest motivation.

If you would like to continue supporting the ISNS community and its activities, you are warmly welcome to join the Parent Committee and be part of our efforts.

ZhenZhen

Activities Director

From my first year at ISNS, the Food Fair has been one of the most memorable and anticipated events for our children, with strong and meaningful parent involvement.

As the Parent Committee activity lead, I am grateful to all parent volunteers for their time, support, and dedication.

Thanks to everyone’s contributions and care, this tradition continues to bring warmth, joy, and lasting memories to our school community.

Chinese Cultural Week embodies ISNS’s educational philosophy: experiential learning, intercultural understanding, and strong school–family partnership.

Events like this remind us that culture is not something students simply study — it is something they live, perform, taste, and share. Through meaningful engagement, students develop respect for heritage, empathy for others, and pride in diversity.

To every teacher, student, parent volunteer, and staff member who made this week possible — thank you for shaping an experience that will resonate far beyond the festival itself.
