从忘词到谢幕:一节戏剧课的“百倍”成长

“跟我们第一次排练相比,已经好了100倍!”谢幕后, James在采访中兴奋的说。

很难想象,几个月前,这群学生第一次站上排练厅时,还会因为一句台词而迟疑,也会因为一个夸张动作而忍不住笑场。

但戏剧课从来不是为了追求完美的表演。

在Miss Pay的课堂里,舞台更像一个不断试错的空间,学生尝试角色、改写台词、设计动作,在一次次排练中逐渐找到表达自己的方式。

整整一个学期的课堂内容,不仅变成了两场精彩纷呈的戏剧展演,也成为一次关于勇气、表达与合作的共同练习。

“Compared to our first rehearsal, we’ve improved a hundred times over!” James exclaimed excitedly in an interview after the curtain call. 

It’s hard to imagine that just a few months ago, when these students first stepped into the rehearsal hall, they hesitated over a single line and burst into laughter at an exaggerated gesture. 

But drama class was never about chasing the perfect performance. 

In Miss Pay’s class, the stage is more like a space for constant trial and error. Students experiment with roles, rewrite lines, design movements, and gradually find their own way of expression through countless rehearsals. The content of an entire semester’s classes has not only evolved into two brilliant drama performances but also a shared lesson in courage, expression and collaboration.

01 .

An Identity Experiment: 

Being Someone Else on Stage



第一次排练时,很多学生其实并不习惯舞台。有人不敢大声说台词,有人觉得夸张的动作让人不好意思,还有人会在表演时忍不住笑场。排练厅里的空气一度有些拘谨。

但戏剧课的魅力,往往就在这种不确定之中。 

随着排练推进,大家逐渐发现,舞台允许一种不同于日常生活的表达方式。在角色里,他们可以变得更加大胆、更加直接,也更加真实。

James认为接触戏剧之后,戏剧不仅可以宣泄自己的情绪,在台上感受体验角色,同时又能挣脱平日的标签。

During their first rehearsal, many students were unaccustomed to the stage. Some dared not speak their lines loudly, others felt embarrassed by over-the-top movements, and some couldn’t help laughing during their performances. The air in the rehearsal hall was stiff for a time. 

Yet the charm of drama often lies in such uncertainty. 

As rehearsals progressed, everyone came to realize that the stage allows for a mode of expression unlike that in daily life. In their roles, they could be bolder, more direct, and more authentic. 

James believes that since he got into drama, it has not only been a way to release his emotions and experience different roles on stage, but also to break free from the labels of everyday life.

而对于Victoria而言,穿着黑披风与高跟鞋,趾高气扬的Drama Queen就是她的本色出演,她也在自己的理解上加入了许多个人的情绪与表情。“但下一次如果还能上舞台,我会挑战跟我反差很大的角色,比如演一个比较文静的小女孩” 

是释放天性,还是成为别人?舞台上,每个人都可以进行一场身份实验。

For Victoria, playing the arrogant Drama Queen in a black cape and high heels was a natural performance, and she infused the role with plenty of her own emotions and expressions based on her understanding. “But if I get to be on stage again, I’ll challenge myself with a role that’s the complete opposite of me—like a quiet little girl,” Victoria said with great anticipation. 

Is it about unleashing one’s true nature, or becoming someone else? On the stage, everyone can embark on an identity experiment.



“看着他们褪去自己的本色,化身为剧中角色,去体验角色的人生经历,这本身就是一件特别有趣的事。从剧目中不同场景的探索,到舞台场景的切换,再到他们换上戏服、从头到脚彻底融入角色,展现出无拘无束的模样 , 我真的感到无比骄傲”

“It’s such a fascinating thing to watch them shed their true selves, transform into their characters, and experience the lives of those characters. From exploring different scenes in the play and switching stage settings, to putting on their costumes and fully immersing themselves in their roles from head to toe, showing their unrestrained sides—I’m incredibly proud of them.”

02 .

Stepping Out of the Comfort Zone:

Youth Needs a Stage



如果在开学初走进Pay老师的课堂,可能会看到一群低着头、腼腆、内敛的学生。

“我们从11月初就开始筹备这些剧目。”Pay老师回忆道,眼里带着光。作为一位从美国跨越半球来到梅沙的专业演员,她太熟悉那种站在舞台边缘的忐忑。而现在,看着这群曾经羞涩的学生在台上用英语念台词、用肢体传递情绪,她满心欢喜、激动不已。

If you had walked into Miss Pay’s class at the start of the semester, you would have seen a group of shy, introverted students with their heads down. “

 “We’ve been preparing for these plays since early November,” Miss Pay recalled, her eyes lighting up. A professional actress who came to VMA all the way from the United States, she knows all too well the nervousness of standing on the edge of a stage. Now, watching these once-shy students recite lines in English and convey emotions through their bodies on stage fills her with joy and excitement.


Pay的课堂很特别。她会用夸张的表演模仿学生们聊天的样子,逗得大家哈哈大笑,然后自觉安静下来。但更特别的是她的教学方式,“我不会帮你们做选择,只会给你们一些想法、一些可能性。”她对学生们说,“具体怎么演,你们自己决定。” 

她不把自己的想法强加给学生,而是引导他们做出属于自己的、有意思的表演。最终舞台上的许多细节—— 一次滑稽的摔倒、一句拖长的台词,往往都来自学生自己的设计。

“现在的他们变得开朗外向,敢于走出舒适区探索新的可能。”Pay老师的声音里满是骄傲。而她自己,何尝不也在走出舒适区?从美国的舞台到深圳的教室,这位身兼故事讲述者、编舞家、服装设计师多重身份的艺术家,正用自己的方式告诉每个孩子:青春需要一座舞台,哪怕你只是站在那里,也已经是勇气的胜利。

Miss Pay’s classes are unique. She does exaggerated impressions of the students chatting, making everyone laugh until they calm down on their own. But her teaching method is even more special. “I won’t make choices for you; I’ll only give you ideas, possibilities,” she tells the students. “It’s up to you to decide how to perform.” 

She never imposes her own ideas on the students, but instead guides them to create their own interesting performances. Many of the final stage details—a comical fall, a drawn-out line—are often the students’ own creations. “

“Now they’ve become cheerful and outgoing, daring to step out of their comfort zones and explore new possibilities,” Miss Pay said, her voice brimming with pride. And she herself is no stranger to stepping out of her comfort zone. From the stages of the US to a classroom in Shenzhen, this artist, who is also a storyteller, choreographer and costume designer, is showing every child in her own way: youth needs a stage, and even just standing there is a victory of courage.

03 .

Nurture Relations First, then People



展演现场,灯光暗下来的瞬间,站在场边的Jenny老师轻轻按下了音乐键。这一刻,她不是数学老师,而是这场戏剧的“幕后操盘手。她在剧目中负责音乐与幕布控制,用另一种方式参与着台上的悲欢。

“先处理关系,再处理学习。”Jenny老师在教育戏剧课上看到这句话时,心里一动。她觉得,这次和同学们一起参与戏剧课的经历,就是对这句话最好的注解。

在戏剧课堂里,没有讲台上下,没有师生界限。大家一起尝试角色,一起讨论情节,一起经历排练的紧张,一起迎接成功的喜悦。关系就这样自然而然地建立起来了。

而这种信任,悄悄延伸到了其他课堂。孩子们变得更放松,也更愿意表达。

“有一个学生,她现在其实正在我的数学课上。”Jenny笑着说,“她本来对数学是处于一个比较抗拒、比较恐惧的状态。但是因为我们一起上戏剧课,平时一起演戏,一起聊戏剧的东西,我和她的关系有了转变,她也开始对数学课有了兴趣。

As the lights dimmed at the performance, Ms. Jenny, standing offstage, gently pressed the music button. At that moment, she was no longer a math teacher, but the “behind-the-scenes director” of the drama. She was in charge of the music and curtain control for the play, participating in the joys and sorrows on stage in another way. “

“Nurture relationships first, then teach.” When Jenny read this sentence in the educational drama course, it struck a chord with her. She felt that her experience of participating in the drama class with the students was the perfect illustration of this saying. 

In the drama class, there is no divide between the podium and the classroom, no boundary between teachers and students. Everyone experiments with roles together, discusses the plot together, experiences the tension of rehearsals together, and celebrates the joy of success together. 

Relationships are built naturally in this process. And this trust quietly extends to other classrooms. The children have become more relaxed and more willing to express themselves. 

“There’s a student who’s actually in my math class now,” Jenny said with a smile. “She used to resist and even fear math. But because we took the drama class together, acted in the play and talked about drama together, our relationship has changed, and she’s started to take an interest in math.”

04 .

A Cross-Disciplinary Class



演出那天,戏剧社作为暖场嘉宾登场,舞台上的木柜子道具则来自木艺课的作品,学生还邀请了Jordan院长客串角色……一场戏剧悄然把不同课堂串联在一起。

对视觉艺术生Victoria来说,这样的体验也带来了新的创作灵感:“我们每个人的角色性格都不一样,有人说话很慢,有人特别机灵。我发现这些不同的性格,会给我画画时带来一些情感上的表达。

如果从更大的角度来看,戏剧课所呈现的,或许是一种不同的学习方式。它更像是一座开放的舞台,让不同学科、不同个性、不同表达方式彼此相遇。

学生阅读剧本、理解角色、练习表达、与同伴协作,最终完成一次完整的舞台呈现。文学、语言、艺术与身体在同一个场域中被调动起来。在这样的课堂里,学习不再只是单一学科的积累,而更像一场真实的创作实践。

在梅沙,学习也可以拥有更加立体而丰盈的形态。

For Victoria, a visual arts student, this experience also brought new creative inspiration: “Each of our roles has a distinct personality—some speak slowly, some are quick-witted. I’ve found that these different personalities inspire my emotional expression when I paint.” 

From a broader perspective, the drama class presents a different way of learning. It is more like an open stage where different disciplines, personalities and modes of expression meet one another. 

Students read scripts, understand roles, practice expression, collaborate with peers, and ultimately complete a full stage performance. Literature, language, art and physical expression are all brought into play in one space. In such a classroom, learning is no longer just the accumulation of knowledge in a single subject, but more like a real creative practice. 

In VMA, learning can take on a more three-dimensional and rich form.
