On April 25, 2026, a thought-provoking dialogue about the future unfolded in the academic lecture hall of OCAHS Shenzhen. Under the theme Reimagine the Futurethe TEDx OCAHS Youth event brought together a number of young speakers from the OCAHS community and special guest speakers. Through heartfelt talks and profound insights, they extended an invitation to every listener in the audience: In an era of rapid technological change, how do we redefine ourselves, connect with one another, and reflect on our shared future.

Lu Sze Heng

When AI can write code, paint landscapes, compose music, and even mimic human conversation, what is the one thing it can never replicate? Lu Sze Heng, a young speaker of the OCAHS community, offered his answer: curiosity. In his talk titled What never changes in the AI Age? he reminded us that the most precious thing in this era is not to seek the limits of our abilities, but to discover the strengths that make us unique. Curiosity, empathy, passion, and the pursuit of meaning remain the ultimate frontiers that technology can never reach.

Yufan Xie

In the face of technology, we often fall into two extremes: the fear of being replaced, or blind worship. Yufan Xie, a young music enthusiast, offered a fresh perspective in her talk Why does AI make us more ARTISTIC? What if technology is not here to replace us, but to set us free? As AI takes over repetitive and labor-intensive tasks, human imagination will become the universal language of tomorrow. She encouraged young people not to be passive bystanders of the future, but active shapers—to think with a critical mind and write their own tomorrow with creativity.

Deming Chen

From the very first day we step into school, our lives are defined by scores, GPAs, and rankings. For a long time, we believed that these numbers were the true answer to the question, 'Am I good enough?' But an unexpected experience led Deming Chen to question: What exactly are these cold numbers measuring? In his talk, Measured & Missedhe tears down the familiar ‘digital filter’ and reveals the qualities that no grading system can ever capture. True wisdom is not about getting higher scores, but about learning to create your own yardstick.

Zijia Huang

Technology has made communication more convenient than ever before—one-tap replies, instant messages, AI chatbots. Yet, we find ourselves feeling lonelier than ever. In her talk, Always Answered, Never Understood, Zijia Huang led the audience to reexamine the boundary between technology and emotion. Gently yet sharply, she pointed out: When ‘be replied to’ becomes cheap, ‘be understood’ becomes truly precious. In the pursuit of efficiency, let us not forget to safeguard those deep connections that can only be built with patience, tenderness, and sincerity.

Peiheng Liu

'Ten years ago, could you have imagined the life we live today?' Peiheng Liu opened his talk with this very question. We have been taught from a young age to plan our future as early as possible—choose the right major, get into a good university, stay on the right life path. But he argues that it is precisely this mindset of ‘planning ahead’ that narrows the future before it has even arrived. His talk, What If We're Imagining the Future Too Narrowly, offers a thought-provoking insight: The shaping of the future depends not only on what we create, but also on what we learn to value. To reimagine the future, we must first redefine what it means to live a worthy life.

Celine Guo

We live in a world where war, conflict, disease, and peace coexist, and division and fragmentation seem to have become the new normal. Yet, in her talk Using Art To Reimagine Unity, In a Fragmented WorldCeline Guo brings a gentle yet steadfast source of hope. She believes that art can transcend language, culture, and prejudice, bringing people's hearts together. Just as after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, when Leonard Bernstein conducted Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 (Ode to Freedom) in Berlin in a historic concert, art became a language that heals division and builds bridges. In this age of estrangement, art allows us to see into one another's hearts and brings us back together.

  [ Prof. Sanford Dickert ]

As a special guest speaker, former Stanford professor Sanford Dickert delivered a forward-looking perspective in his talk titled The part that breaks, Reset. He pointed out that The real risk is preparing for the old system. Contemporary people, especially young people, should not be bystanders in the age of AI, but active participants who engage deeply.

Prof. Sanford specifically mentioned the humanoid robot 'Flash', which recently broke the human half-marathon record at the 2026 Beijing E-Town Humanoid Robot Half Marathon, as well as Shenzhen—the birthplace of 'Flash'. He remarked that Shenzhen, home to thousands of AI-related enterprises, has already become a 'epicenter of robotics'. The young people of Shenzhen, he noted, find themselves in the most fertile soil for AI development and the most vibrant atmosphere of innovation in the world. He encouraged everyone to make full use of their local advantages, broaden their horizons, and become the main force in 'reimagining the future'.

The nearly two-hour TEDx OCAHS Youth event came to a close amid waves of warm applause. There were no grand slogans, no distant lectures—only the sincere reflections, courageous questions, and the gentle yet steadfast visions of the future from the young members of the OCAHS community.

As the theme of this event puts it—Reimagine the FutureReimagining the future has never been an exclusive task for tech elites alone, but a mental action in which every ordinary person can take part. When young eyes bravely turn toward the unknown, and when critical thinking joins hands with creativity, that better future may already be on its way.
