Dear SIS Community,

We are closing in on the end of the school year with exams, reports, student led conferences, and graduation ceremonies all recently completed. I trust that some of you were able to join the online audience for the graduation of our grade 12 class of 2026 last Friday. I was particularly impressed by the insights our speakers gave about the ways that SIS helps prepare for an uncertain future.

As we think about preparations for the future, you may have seen that Deloitte Access Economics recently released their quarterly Employment Forecasts report in Australia. It listed 80 occupations that will be most disrupted by Artificial Intelligence. Many occupations in the management sector, along with Multimedia and IT specialists, many Engineering professionals, and Accountants were listed as vulnerable to the effect of fast evolving AI. Other sectors were likely to see expansion due to the impact and opportunities from AI including Life Scientists, Researchers, Primary School Teachers, and General Managers. Our school has been an Apple Distinguished School for many years, and is a leader in the ethical and considered use of technology in the IB curriculum. We support our teachers to have high levels of expertise in general use of technology, and our campuses have been designed with preparation for the future in mind. AI will definitely change the way that we teach and prepare students, but it is important to be assured that we have always blended human skills and technology as part of a SIS education.

Next year will see an expansion of our support for families in preparing for life after SIS. We have always provided access to university counseling and planning, and from next year we will be adding new enhancements to help parents and students make decisions in this dynamic environment. Families across all our campuses can look forward to this new initiative.

Knowing what will help our families comes through advice we receive from many sources. One of the most important is our Parent Advisory Council. The PAC is a voluntary group who meet with the Head of School to offer insights and perspectives from across our community.

This year, I have been very appreciative of the assistance and perspectives from PAC members Ronel Hooten, Whashin Lee, Holly Li and Juan Du. Their contribution in helping me understand issues better has been really valued. I am thrilled to announce the members for next year in this vital Council.

Rui Guo, Syenny Lee, Honglin Fu, Karen Wan, Juan Du, Ying Qian, Ivy Hsieh, Minfeng Xiao, Holly Li, Amanda Deng, Poe-Jou Chen, Mette Vejling Andersen, and Kirsten McCarthy will be our next PAC.

We have already set some of the topics that we will be exploring

  • school and strategic direction;

  • community communication;

  • admissions, transition, and new family experience;

  • curriculum and teaching;

  • student well-being and support;

  • language learning and multilingual community needs;

  • co-curricular activities, athletics, arts, and service;

  • community events and school culture;

  • facilities, campus development, and learning environments;

  • technology, innovation, and future learning;

  • community and business trends affecting international education;

Thank you everyone who has been involved in providing feedback and information to the school as we work together to keep SIS as a regional leader in international education.

Rui Guo、 Syenny Lee、 Honglin Fu,、Karen Wan,、Juan Du,、Ying Qian、Ivy Hsieh、Minfeng Xiao、Holly Li、Amanda Deng、Poe-Jou Chen、Mette Vejling Andersen和 Kirsten McCarthy 将成为下一届 PAC 成员。

  • 学校发展与战略方向;

  • 社群沟通;

  • 招生、过渡安排和新家庭体验;

  • 课程与教学;

  • 学生身心健康与支持;

  • 语言学习与多语言社区需求;

  • 课外活动、体育、艺术与服务;

  • 社区活动与学校文化;

  • 设施、校区发展与学习环境;

  • 科技、创新与未来学习;
