那个总决赛没敢上台的孩子，后来完成了自己的演讲

如果让你来定义一场成功的英文演讲比赛，你会想到什么？

是流利的英文？
是完美的表现？
还是最终的冠军奖杯？

When you think of a successful English speech competition, what comes to mind?

Fluent English? A perfect performance? Or perhaps a championship trophy?

在科发幼儿园刚刚结束的“小小英文演说家”活动中，我们看见了一个不一样的答案。

因为比起比赛结果，那些关于成长的瞬间，更让人难忘。

At Kofa Kindergarten’s recently concluded “Little English Speaker” event, we discovered a different answer. Because more memorable than the results were the moments of growth along the way.

总决赛当天，一个孩子站在舞台旁边。

初赛时，她表现得非常出色。她认真准备、自信表达，顺利进入总决赛。

可是当真正站到舞台前时，紧张突然袭来。她低着头，迟迟没有迈出那一步。最终，她没能完成当天的展示。

回家后，她难过地哭着告诉奶奶：

“我没有上台，我害羞，心里很难过。”

对于大人来说，这也许只是一场活动。

但对于孩子来说，那是她期待了很久的一次挑战。

On the day of the final competition, one child stood quietly beside the stage.

She had performed wonderfully in the preliminary round and successfully advanced to the finals. But when it was time to step onto the stage, nervousness took over. She lowered her head and, in the end, was unable to complete her presentation.

When she got home, she cried and told her grandmother: "I didn’t go on stage. I was shy, and my heart felt very sad." To adults, it may have seemed like just another school activity. But to a child, it was a challenge she had been looking forward to for a long time.

那份失落，我们都能感受得到。我们知道，她并不是不会。她只是暂时没有战胜心里的害怕。

于是，在家人，老师和小伙伴们的鼓励下，我们决定再给她一次机会。

没有比赛。没有评比。只有老师的陪伴和朋友们的支持。这一次，她鼓起勇气走上了舞台。

一句、两句、三句……当她完整地说完自己的演讲内容时，脸上露出了笑容。

那一刻，我们知道：

真正值得庆祝的，从来不是名次。而是孩子战胜了自己。

We could all feel her disappointment. We knew it wasn’t because she lacked the ability. She simply hadn’t overcome her fear yet. With encouragement from her family, teachers, and classmates, she was given another opportunity. This time, there was no competition or judging, only support and encouragement.

This time, she gathered her courage and walked onto the stage. One sentence, then another, and another… When she finished her entire speech, a smile spread across her face.

At that moment, we knew: The real achievement was never the ranking. It was the fact that she had overcome herself.

这次活动中，还有很多让人感动的故事。

有的孩子刚入园时十分害羞。遇到老师会躲在家长身后，说话轻轻的，不愿意在大家面前表达自己。

可是在这次活动中，我们看见他们独自站在舞台中央：

他们大方地向大家介绍自己。

他们勇敢地开口说英语。

他们开始享受被看见、被倾听的感觉。

还有一些孩子，最开始声音很小。练习时总是需要老师不断鼓励。但经过一次次尝试，他们开始抬起头，勇敢地看向观众，用更清晰、更坚定的声音表达自己的想法。

原来，自信并不是天生的。它是在一次次尝试中慢慢长出来的。

There were many touching stories throughout this event.

Some children were extremely shy when they first joined our school. They would hide behind their parents when meeting teachers, speak softly, and avoid expressing themselves in front of others. Yet during this event, we saw them stand alone in the center of the stage. They confidently introduced themselves. They bravely spoke English in front of an audience. They began to enjoy being seen and heard.

Other children started with very quiet voices. During practice, they constantly needed encouragement from their teachers. But after repeated attempts, they gradually learned to lift their heads, look at the audience, and express their ideas with greater clarity and confidence.

We were reminded that confidence is not something children are born with. It grows little by little through repeated opportunities to try.

颁奖仪式结束后，我们看到了另一幕成长。

有几个孩子因为没有拿到自己期待中的奖杯，忍不住流下了眼泪。对于成年人来说，也许只是一个奖项。但对于孩子来说，那是他们认真准备、努力练习后最期待的时刻。

After the award ceremony, we witnessed another important moment of growth.

Some children were disappointed because they didn’t receive the trophies they had hoped for. To adults, it may have seemed like just an award, but to children, it represented weeks of effort, practice, and anticipation.

他们会失落，会难过，会觉得委屈。而这些情绪，都是真实的。老师没有急着告诉他们“不要哭”。而是陪伴他们一起面对自己的感受。我们和孩子聊一聊：

“你为什么难过呢？”

“因为我也想拿奖杯。” 

“那你觉得自己这次有没有进步呢？”

“有。”

“你有没有勇敢站上舞台呢？” 

“有。” 

“你有没有认真练习呢？” 

“有。”

Their sadness was real.Instead of telling them, “Don’t cry,” teachers stayed beside them and helped them process their emotions.

We talked with them:

 “Why are you feeling sad?” 

“Because I wanted a trophy too.” 

“Do you think you improved this time?” 

“Yes.” 

“Did you have the courage to stand on stage?”

 “Yes.”

 “Did you practice hard?”

 “Yes.”

慢慢地，孩子开始明白：

原来不管是奖杯或是奖状只是活动中的一个结果。而成长，早就在准备和参与的过程中发生了。过程中孩子们学会了面对遗憾，接受不同的结果。这或许才是这场活动最珍贵的收获。

我们希望孩子从中获得的是一种成长型思维：我愿意尝试。我愿意坚持。即使结果不如预期，我依然能够欣赏自己的努力，继续勇敢向前。这比任何奖杯都更加珍贵。

Gradually, they began to understand that trophies and certificates are only one outcome, while growth happens throughout the journey. Along the way, children learn how to face disappointment and accept different outcomes. Perhaps that is the most valuable lesson of all.

We hope our children develop a growth mindset: I am willing to try. I am willing to persevere. Even when things don’t go as planned, I can still appreciate my effort and keep moving forward. That is far more valuable than any trophy.

“小小英文演说家”活动从学期初启动，贯穿了整个学期。我们希望给孩子们创造更多表达和展示的机会。

因为我们相信：

语言不仅仅是知识。更是一种表达自己的能力。未来的孩子也许会站上更大的舞台。也许会面对更多陌生的人群。但比英语说得多么流利更重要的是—他们是否敢于表达自己的想法。是否拥有相信自己的勇气。是否愿意在机会来临时勇敢地迈出第一步。

The “Little English Speaker” event began at the start of the semester and continued throughout the term. Our goal was to create more opportunities for children to express themselves and share their voices.

Because we believe that language is more than knowledge. It is a tool for self-expression. One day, our children may stand on much bigger stages. They may speak to unfamiliar audiences. But more important than speaking perfect English is whether they dare to express their thoughts. Whether they believe in themselves. Whether they are willing to take that first brave step when opportunities appear.

每个孩子，都值得被听见

活动结束后，我们为每一位参与的孩子颁发了属于他们的荣誉。

有的孩子获得了“最佳演说家奖”，因为他自信的表达和展示；

有的孩子获得了“清晰表达奖”，因为他的声音清晰而坚定；

有的孩子获得了“最佳努力奖”，因为他为了这次展示付出了许多坚持与练习；

有的孩子获得了“快乐表达奖”，因为他把快乐和自信带给了身边每一个人。

Every child deserves to be heard. At the end of the event, every participant received recognition for their unique strengths. Some children received the Best Speaker Award for their confident presentation and stage presence. Some received the Clear Voice Award for speaking with clarity and confidence. Some received the Best Effort Award for the persistence and dedication they showed throughout their preparation. Others received the Happy Speaker Award for sharing their happiness and confidence with everyone around them.

我们希望孩子明白：

每个人的闪光点都不一样。

教育不是让所有孩子变成同一个样子，而是帮助每个孩子发现自己的光。

因为在我们眼中：

主动回答问题，是一种勇敢；

自信站上舞台，是一种勇敢；

紧张之后依然愿意再试一次，更是一种勇敢。

教育从来不是培养最会演讲的孩子。而是帮助每一个孩子找到属于自己的声音。

让他们相信：

“我的想法值得表达。”

“我的声音值得被听见。”

“我可以勇敢地站出来。”

这，就是“小小英文演说家”最珍贵的意义。

我们始终相信：

每个孩子，都值得被听见。

We want children to understand: Everyone shines in different ways.

Education is not about making every child the same. It is about helping each child discover their own light.

Because in our eyes:

Answering a question voluntarily is courage. Standing confidently on a stage is courage. Trying again after feeling nervous is even greater courage.

Education is not about raising the best public speakers. It is about helping every child find their own voice. Helping them believe: "My ideas are worth expressing." "My voice deserves to be heard." "I can be brave enough to step forward." And that is the most meaningful purpose of our “Little English Speaker” event.

We will always believe: Every child deserves to be heard.
