Dear SIS Families,


The issuance of semestral reports and the parent-teacher-student conferences are just around the corner. As parents, your involvement and support are invaluable in helping your child achieve their full potential, and understanding the importance of these reports and conferences is a crucial part of that process.


Please make sure to meet with your teachers to get an overall assessment of your child's progress, highlighting areas where they excel and areas that may need additional attention. You might also discuss about your child's behavior, work habits, and social skills. This holistic assessment provides a well-rounded view of their overall development, allowing you to address any concerns and promote their personal growth.


Sending official reports followed up by conferences is an important communication tool between parents and teachers. Parent-teacher-student conferences enable you to actively engage in your child's educational journey by discussing their individual needs and setting personalized goals. 


We will be sending you sign-up forms soon through SchoolsBuddy. Meanwhile, do reach out to your children's teachers if you have further questions about their performance at school.

The Bay Library Author's Corner 

is now open!

太子湾校区图书馆作家角落现已开放!

SIS has a brand-new Library div, for our very own authors and illustrators.  Please stop by and browse the new additions, published by SIS students.  In class whether individually or with others, our students are writers, creators, and artists.  They have written, revised, edited, proofread and published original stories for our community to enjoy. In addition to the stories, the students have illustrated original artwork to go with their published works.


The Authors' Corner will be expanding as more and more students publish their stories, so stop by often to see what new titles have been added.  And stay tuned; we are opening an Authors' Corner at Mountainside Library soon for all those Early Years authors at Jingshan!

Exploring and Learning with Fruit Kebabs: Engaging All Five Senses!

探索和学习水果串: 让五种感官都参与进来!

To provide a sensory experience for our Nursery students, they went on an adventure of making fruit kebabs that involved all five senses. By introducing a variety of fruits with different colors and textures, students were able to see the colors of the fruits, which stimulated their visual perception and further developed their ability to identify and appreciate the colours founds in fruits and in nature.


As the children picked up and touched each fruit, they could feel the textures of the outside -smooth and bumpy. This developed their senses of touch and fine motor skills.


The most exciting part was tasting the fruits. They enjoyed the juicy textures of the fruits and  with encouragement some students were risk-takers as they tried new fruits which introduced them some new tastes, helping to develop their sense of taste and broaden their food experience.


Sensory Integration: Engaging all five senses through this fruit kebab activity had a deeper purpose than just a delicious treat. It provided a multisensory experience that stimulated their senses and enhanced their sensory integration skills. By integrating information received from their senses, children can better understand their environment and make meaningful connections.


Home connection: We encourage you to continue the exploration of different fruits and textures at home. It can be as simple as preparing a fruit salad or encouraging children to touch and describe the characteristics of various fruits during your next trip to the supermarket.

为了给幼儿园的孩子们提供一个感官体验,他们进行了一次让五种感官都能参与的水果串的冒险。通过介绍各种不同颜色和质地的水果,让学生看到水果的颜色,刺激了他们的视觉感知,进一步发展了他们识别和认识水果和自然界颜色的能力。


当孩子们拿起并触摸每一个水果时,他们可以感觉到外面的质地——光滑而凹凸不平。这发展了他们的触觉和精细运动技能。

G5 Transition Program to Middle School

在网谷校区的生活: G5中学过渡计划

Transitioning to a new campus can be a challenge.  Not knowing where you are going, what to expect and who you will be learning with can create mixed feelings and emotions.  Here at SIS, we make the transition from the elementary Bay campus to our middle school Net Valley campus smooth, seamless and most importantly, enjoyable.


On Wednesday afternoon, ninety-six grade five students arrived at the Net Valley campus full of excitement and expectation for what student life would be like for them as new middle schoolers.  They weren't disappointed!  


To begin their transition experiences, our grade 5 students met the Net Valley leadership team and other support staff. After introductions, middle school ambassadors took our eager grade 5 students on a scavenger hunt, to find out where learning happens.  Lunch was then served, which was followed by an interactive and exciting middle school assembly, organised by our Net Valley STUCO.


Congratulations to Jayden from 5CBP for winning a special 'Minute To Win-It' assembly act during the afternoon. It was an enlightening afternoon of building new knowledge and understandings of Net Valley student life.

过渡到一个新的校园可能是一个挑战。不知道你要去哪里,期待什么,和谁一起学习,会让你产生复杂的感觉和情绪。在SIS,我们的学生大都会从小学太子湾校区顺利地过渡到中学网谷校区,而且最重要的是这个过渡是愉快的。


周三下午,96名五年级的学生来到了网谷校区,他们充满了兴奋和对初中生生活的期待。他们没有失望!


活动的一开始,我们五年级的学生会见了网谷的领导团队和其他支持人员。在自我介绍之后,中学大使带着我们兴奋的五年级学生进行寻宝游戏,找出学习的地方。午餐后,我们的网谷校区学生会还组织了一个极具互动性和令人兴奋的中学集会。


祝贺来自5CBP的Jayden在下午赢得了特别的“Minute to Win-It”活动。这是一个有建设性的下午,太子湾校区的学生们对网络谷的学生生活有了新的认识和理解。


Using Technology in Reading and Writing

运用科技进行阅读和写作

In grade 3 literacy, students recently completed a unit that focused on non-fiction reading and writing, allowing them to explore various topics, particularly major weather events. Through the integration of technology, students utilized the Book Creator on the iPad to create and publish non-fiction informational books about natural disasters. They learned how to take notes and expand their academic and scientific vocabulary. Furthermore, they were introduced to the importance of academic honesty, understanding the significance of citing sources accurately.


Currently, in their ongoing unit of inquiry, grade 3 students are immersing themselves in the study of culture through legends, folk tales, and myths. By carefully examining characters' traits, motivations, and actions within these traditional stories, students gain valuable insights into the diverse cultures that exist globally. Students will be encouraged to express their opinions about the stories, they are guided to provide evidence to support their viewpoints and make meaningful comparisons between different tales. This unit not only promotes critical thinking skills, but also nurtures their ability to express their thoughts effectively, fostering international mindedness as they gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of cultures.

在三年级的文学课上,学生们最近完成了一个以非虚构阅读和写作为重点的单元,让他们深入探索各种主题,尤其是关于主要天气事件的内容。通过融入科技元素,学生们巧妙地运用iPad上的Book Creator工具,创作并发布了关于自然灾害的非虚构信息书籍。在这个过程中,他们学会了如何进行有效的记笔记,扩展了自己的学术和科学词汇。除此之外,他们还对学术诚信有了更深刻的认识,明白了准确引用来源的重要性。

Les Restos du Coeur is a famous French association that helps and supports the poor, particularly with food through access to free meals, and through participation in their social and economic integration, as well as in any action against poverty in all its forms.


At SIS, we believe in supporting each other and our action represents what the association is doing. Therefore, we created Les Restos de SIS. We would like to be able to donate money to the same association and we have invited special guests for our event.


The students in FIP and FAL, and SIS staff members will share songs in French to represent our action. You are welcome to watch the performances that will happen on Monday 11th December. However, there is a limited number of seats. Please scan the QR code to save you a seat.


The performances will be as follow:


-KG to G2 will be from 9:00-9:45am (100 seats available)
-G3 to G5 will be from 10:15-11:00am (80 seats available)


We look forward to welcoming you at our singing concert. The QR code for making donations will be available at the theater. There will also be a donation box if you prefer to give cash.
