Dear SIS Families,

As the school year comes to a close, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your partnership and support in helping our Geckos grow throughout the year.

It has been a privilege to work alongside such a dedicated and supportive community of parents and families. Your unwavering commitment to your children's education and well-being has been felt and made a long-lasting impact on your children and the school community as a whole.

Whether you volunteered your time, attended school events, assisted in the school inquiry, or provided a nurturing home environment - your contributions have made an immeasurable difference. A special congratulations to our Parent Support Association, who have gone above and beyond to enrich the lives of our students. Your tireless efforts are deeply appreciated.

We would also like to recognize our student leaders, whose positive influence has been inspiring to their peers and the adults around them. Our student leaders are in the STUCO, student ambassador program, and many others who lead ASAs, shared their Voices, and actively advocated for better choices in little and big ways.

We are thankful for all our teaching and non-teaching staff. Together, we were able to provide quality services that contributed greatly to the high growth and achievement of our students this school year. We will continue to do so every year. Well done, everyone!

We are proud of the SIS students who succeeded at the  International Youth Swimming Competition held at the Futian Swimming & Diving Hall last weekend. Summer's most notable result was 3rd place in the 50m Breaststroke in her U7 age category. Dora finished 9th in 50m Freestyle while her 4x50 medley relay team & 4x50 freestyle relay team were 1st overall. Congratulations to our Geckos!

Grade 2 students celebrated the conclusion of their How We Express Ourselves unit of inquiry with an immersive showcase for the community. Level 5 was transformed into imaginative fairy tale displays, featuring creative mediums such as readers theater, comic books, storyboards, and clay puppets. Students poured their hearts into retelling classic tales like Cinderella and The Three Little Pigs.  The enthusiasm and pride radiated through as Grade 2 capped off an enriching year of inquiry-based learning.

二年级学生们庆祝了他们“我们如何表达自己”探究单元的结束，为社区举办了一场沉浸式展示活动。5年级教室被打造成富有想象力的童话故事展示区，展示了诸如朗诵剧、漫画书、故事板和粘土木偶等创意媒介。学生们倾注心血地重新讲述了《灰姑娘》和《三只小猪》等经典故事。二年级在这个充实的探究学习之年中展现出了无限的热情和自豪感。

What a wonderful moving-up ceremony for our grade 5 students this week! This marks an important milestone in your educational journey, and we have no doubt you are ready to take on the exciting challenges that await you in middle school. Well done!

We are very excited to send off our Kg students from Jingshan as they Leap to Grade 1 in the coming school year. Whether you are returning to SIS or heading elsewhere, we are confident that you are more than ready to tackle the new challenges ahead of you!

We are excited to participate in a folk concert alongside seven other international schools in the Shenzhen area over the weekend. The collaborative effort involved many music teachers from different schools coming together to create a memorable event with over 150 students.  This group was joined by members from our Gecko Junior Strings A and B, the Gecko Orff Ensemble and Choir, and other students from Net Valley.

The concert featured performances from a Chinese ensemble, choir, orchestra and band. Surrounded with sounds of the choir and orchestra on “Kwela”, the audience enthusiastically joined in the singing.  It was truly a celebration of music from a global context, including music from Africa, Scotland, as well as highlighting the rich musical traditions of our host country.

This was organized by the International Music, Visual Arts, Dance, Drama Teachers of Shenzhen (iMADSZ) of which SIS is a part of.  Our students were able to connect and engage with students while making music together.  Two of the folk pieces performed were specifically arranged by a local international teacher. Our students also had the chance to create music with balloons, mallets, and xylophones in an Orff workshop, exploring new musical techniques and approaches.

We are proud to share that the proceeds from the concert, about ¥20,000, will be donated to Captivating’s ‘One More Year’ Program, to assist underprivileged young students from rural villages stay in school for one more year. Thank you to the families for all the support and thank you to SWIS for hosting this event.

我们很高兴能与深圳地区的其他七所国际学校一起参加周末的民谣音乐会。此次合作活动汇集了来自不同学校的许多音乐老师，为 150 多名学生创造了一场难忘的活动。我们的 壁虎少年弦乐团A 组和 B组、Gecko Orff 合唱团和合唱团的成员以及 网谷校区的其他学生也加入了这个团体。

音乐会上，中国合奏团、合唱团、管弦乐队和乐队轮番献艺。当合唱团和管弦乐队演奏《Kwela》时，观众们纷纷加入歌唱，现场气氛热烈。这真是一个全球音乐的盛会，包括来自非洲、苏格兰等地的音乐作品，并突出展示了我们主办国丰富的音乐传统。

这次活动是由深圳国际音乐、视觉艺术、舞蹈和戏剧教师协会（iMADSZ）组织的，而SIS是其中的一部分。我们的学生能够与其他学生建立联系并共同演奏音乐。其中两首民间乐曲是由本地国际老师专门改编的。此外，我们的学生还有机会参加了一个Orff工作坊，在那里他们用气球、槌子和木琴创作音乐，探索新的音乐技巧和方法。

我们很荣幸地告诉大家，音乐会的收入约为¥20,000，将捐赠给Captivating的“再多一年”项目，以帮助来自农村贫困家庭的年轻学生们能够多在学校待一年。感谢各位家庭的支持并感谢 SWIS 主办此次活动。

SIS-DJI ASA was successfully completed! Students develop an interest-oriented engineer's mindset, experience the product development and manufacturing process, stimulate the passion to explore the truth, and change the world through hands-on creation.
