Our students recently joined an ACAMIS tennis competition held at the International School of Beijing. Despite facing fierce competition from skilled players representing different schools, our students demonstrated strong determination and sportsmanship.

We want to acknowledge and applaud their commitment to their academic obligations. They managed to find time between matches to diligently work on their homework and prepare for upcoming exams, showcasing their commitment as student-athletes. 

Outside of the tennis matches, the event gave students the chance to renew old friendships and make new ones, making the experience very special for everyone involved. 

我们的队员最近参加了在北京国际学校举行的ACAMI网球赛。即使面对来自不同学校优秀专业运动员的激烈竞争，我们的选手们始终展现了坚定的决心和体育精神。 

我们表彰他们对学习的努力，他们在赛场间找时间勤奋做作业，为即将到来的考试做准备，展示了他们作为学生运动员的承诺。 

赛场之外的活动为同学们提供了叙旧和建立新友谊的机会，这次经历对参与其中的每个人都尤为珍贵特别。 

The MS Soccer season wrapped up last week. Our girls team took 2nd place in the SISAC Tournament. Special shout out to the SISAC All-Stars for their hard work and dedication all season: Malthe A, Lucas L, MeiMei S, Vaire K & Yuju J. 

初中足球赛季于上周结束。我们的女队在SISAC锦标赛中荣获第二。特别向SISAC全明星们致敬，感谢他们在整个赛季的辛勤努力和奉献精神：Malthe A, Lucas L, MeiMei S, Vaire K & Yuju J。 

SIS hosted the SISAC Badminton tournament this year. We entered two teams and our players had a full day of badminton – playing five matches each throughout the event. The team will play again this weekend in Guangzhou. Go Geckos! 

今年SIS主办了SISAC羽毛球锦标赛。我们送出两支球队参赛，球员们一整天在羽毛球场上奋战 —— 全场每人打了五场比赛。本周末球队将在广州再战一场。壁虎健儿加油！  

Our swim team attended their first event of the season this weekend. We received top 3 in the following events: 13U 50m Freestyle (3rd – Natalia D), 13U 50m Breaststroke (3rd – Agnes Z) 19U 50m Breaststroke (3rd – Sally K), 19U 100m Breaststroke (2nd – Sally K). Congrats to our Gecko Swim Team! 

我们的游泳队上周末参加了他们本赛季的首场比赛。我们在以下项目中获得前三名：13U 50米自由泳 (3rd – Natalia D)，13U 50米蛙泳 (3rd – Agnes Z)，19U 50米蛙泳 (3rd – Sally K)，19U 100米蛙泳 (2nd – Sally K)。祝贺我们的壁虎游泳队！ 

The cross country team attended their third race of the season. There were around 45 total runners and we once again saw Jill T. (G11) win gold and were excited that Jinyoung C (G10) finished 2nd only eight seconds behind the winner. They have one more local race before the team travels to Chengdu for ACAMIS in late November. 

田径越野队共有45名选手参加了他们本赛季第三场比赛。我们看到Jill T.(G11)再次夺冠，Jinyoung C (G10) 仅差8秒位居第二，这太棒了。赛队在11月下旬前往成都参加ACAMIS前还有一场本地比赛。 

Congratulations to our girls Varsity Volleyball team for winning SISAC for the 2nd year in a row. The team went undefeated in league play and did not lose a set in playoffs. The boys were unable to repeat as SISAC Champions for the 4th year in a row, but still had a great season. Both teams start their ACAMIS tournament today in Nanjing. Go Geckos! 

祝贺我们的女子排球队连续第二年获得SISAC冠军。这支球队在联赛中保持不败战绩，在季后赛中一盘不败。男队连续四年虽没能在SISAC夺冠，但仍度过了一个伟大的赛季。今天两支球队都将在南京开启他们的ACAMIS锦标赛。壁虎健儿加油！ 

The UN’s sustainable development goals are a throughline in SIS curriculum, helping students understand from Primary through to Secondary how they as individuals can make an impact on their world. In Grade 9 Individuals and Societies classes, students used knowledge they learned from their unit on early societies to design their own society – with the help of Minecraft! To build these, they needed to provide a rationale for the culture, technology, and climate’s impact on the design of their houses and communities. This helps them understand how their own societies are shaped by multiple factors. In the Grade 11 Diploma Programme Economics course, students connect their learning to their contexts at a more in-depth level, examining “the real cost” of everyday items in their lives to help build their understanding of the role of sustainability as one of their course key concepts. In this way, the students in Secondary are always being asked to make connections between their world around them, and their learning in the classroom.
